You know what, I take it back. Another flavor of elf would be worth it just to make Belf players seethe.
Come on, join our side! You know you want to!
It didnât have to be an exact cut and paste. Void elves are a cut and paste with a blue filter.
Unfortunately many of the pro High elf demands include claiming ownership over themes that are intrinsically tied to Blood elves, as Alliance High elf themes. If you visit any thread asking for themes that hearken to Blood/High elf history like tattoos, blue eyes, etc you will bet bombarded with High elf hopefuls who feel that these themes belong to them. It becomes a form of bargaining when it starts to feel like themes are being torn away from Blood elf players for the simple means of justifying a copy of our race. And thatâs never felt fair.
But thatâs not the âHigh elfâ fantasy, thatâs using High elves as a prop to fulfill a trope for the Alliance races. High elves are only interesting to you when theyâre allied with the right races, and bear the right colors, itâs not really the High elves youâre interested in at that point, but what they can offer to the Allianceâs theme. Itâs unfortunate for those who wanted High elves on the Alliance that they were given to the Horde, but thereâs no putting that genie back in the bottle now.
Void elves are visually distinct enough and their culture has evolved with their current state of existence.
Meanwhile, everything that high elves are, the blood elves are too. There is nothing unique about the high elves, and all they can do now is just assimilate with either the void elves, or human culture.
I think thatâs been the plan since Mists. They committed warcrimes they havenât been held accountable for. I would have figured Bliz just forgot about it like tehy do so many other things, but it was brought up again in BFA. The Leader of the Sun Reavers aided Sylvanus because he thought that was the only way to get justice for him and his people. I think theyâre going to be trash in a dungeon or raid.
i dont want people to mad each other over this stuff. this is all the devs fault. they did this to us. the meanies.
Iâll join you for spider elves.
Posting in another
high
i think very few if any survived legion
if they did and that we havent seem them may imply joining the unseepath wasnt temporary. it would be a much higher calling then walking laps around dalaran. a fitting end
I see them mostly just fading slowly into obscurity, theyâre pretty insignificant as it is. The only elf that gets any kind of screentime is Vereesa and thatâs only cause sheâs the third wheel Windrunner
No.
âŚand 10 characters
Lyin? Elf blood thread? Lol I love it
Void elves are visually distinct enough
Not really. With armor on you canât tell the difference between a Blood and Void elf at a glance.
and their culture has evolved with their current state of existence.
What culture? Void elves donât have a culture other than âmuh voidâ and âmuh allianceâ.
Meanwhile, everything that high elves are, the blood elves are too.
High elves refused to resort to demonic magic. Thus they lack the capability for fel green eyes and the ability to be warlocks. They also didnât get in contact with Illidan, so theyâd lack the ability to be demon hunters. They are also not as in tune with the Sunwell, so theyâd lack gold eyes as well.
You could even make the case that High elves could be thinner, lankier, more wiry than Blood elves because they are less healthy without the Sunwell in order to give them a different model.
and all they can do now is just assimilate with either the void elves, or human culture.
Blizzard has shown us that they can and will be NPCs that donât assimilate at all.
Would the HE Alliance supporters and detractors be ok with simply giving VE the options to have non-purple skin and hair? They could look like a HE but would still be VE. Seems like a win win to me.
As long as the issue is that they donât want to have too much of a crossover between alliance and horde -I mean besideees pandaren- Itâs not likely to happen. It doesnât make sense, but itâs that way because of the design choice.
But as long as people are so vocal about giving VEâs more HE looking options because itâs âstealingâ from BEâs, I donât see why Blizzard would have an incentive to do that.
I think a lot, but not all, Pro-HE people would be okay with it to a degree; itâs what Wildhammer Dwarves and Sand Trolls are getting; to look the part is better than nothing. But there would be a lot of people that still wanted a âtrue HE raceâ with more specific personalization and of course those that just wanna be elven paladins.
That would be a fair compromise.
The High Elf compromise is to just play a High Elf in the Horde.
A true High Elf would never associate, let alone ally with the savages known as Orcs and Trolls. Thatâs my biggest issue with the âjust play Hordeâ bit.
Not really. With armor on you canât tell the difference between a High and Void elf at a glance.
Then why are we asking for high elves?
What culture? Void elves donât have a culture other than âmuh voidâ and âmuh allianceâ.
Thatâs plenty distinct enough from anything else we have.
High elves refused to resort to demonic magic.
So did blood elves. They just used the fel crystals that Rommath brought back to power the city. That energy radiated out towards the people and gave them green eyes.
the ability to be warlocks
There is literally a high elf warlock trainer in wotlk dalaran

They also didnât get in contact with Illidan, so theyâd lack the ability to be demon hunters.
kay
They are also not as in tune with the Sunwell, so theyâd lack gold eyes as well.
Thatâs not even a little bit true.
Blizzard has shown us that they can and will be NPCs that donât assimilate at all.
But thatâs not whatâs happening to the high elves.
I have been and and greatly apart of the High Elves request. I know what has been asked for and what is being asked for. Unfortunately for you, hair, tattooed, skin colors are not exclusive to just Blood Elves and their fantasies. Many of these things we put out their to help make them look different before âNew customizationsâ options became available. Now that they are for all races, it just makes it even easier to differentiate what we desire and is now about stance, model, and movements. It becomes an issue, because you have ranters raving about how they canât be different because âsame people!â Instead of seeing it for what is being asked for, an allied race. You also have those whom feel that if a model was altered it would be subjectively better then Blood Elves, which isnât the fault of the players and shouldnât be brought to their doorstep.
That is your opinion of what you feel has become of the High Elves of the Alliance, that doesnât make it true. They are interesting because of their lore and where they stand in the world. You donât get to personally project your ideas on what others feel is their fantasy. Whatâs unfortunate about it, is that you feel the need to tell other players that their fantasies for their characters will never come to fruition and should settle with the options you find good enough. This is why I said that it is not up to us to convince you why or what we want, just the Devs.
A true High Elf would never associate, let alone ally with the savages known as Orcs and Trolls. Thatâs my biggest issue with the âjust play Hordeâ bit.
this is honestly why youre never getting a carbon copy of a horde race. blood elves are the high elves of quelâthalas proper, not a mage trainer in SW or a couple elves lurking around dalaran with absolutely nothing behind them. no kingdom, no civilian population or army, thats what blood elves(high elves) represent
