That’s exactly what the mod “Void Elves to High Elves” did. A huge number of players were banned for using that mod, though. Let me try to find the images, they looked great.
This would be ideal, imo. Let us share a few hair options and beards. It looks like Blizzard actually showcased a Void Elf beard on a Blood Elf in that new announcement, so it could be happening? Let’s hope.

Took me a while, but found one:
Essentially, replace the tentacle with braids. Keep the same hairstyles, allow us to toggle between one or the other.
And those tattoos!

Yesssssss to all of that. Amazing. Braids like that would be perfect.
I’ve been playing since beta. That’s more than 15 YEARS.
And in all that time, I HAVE NEVER ONCE noticed another character’s eye color. NOT ONCE!
In all that time, I don’t think I’ve noticed anyone’s skin color, but I might have … because we’re almost always wearing armor that completely covers our skin. Even the tattoos some chrs have access to, I pain over the choices in the chr selection screen and have to remind myself: I’ll never see this crap anyway.
And for all the ENDLESS whining and gnashing of teeth over this issue, does a High Elf have a different version of Mortal Strike than my Orc Warrior? It doesn’t PLAY any different. For the life of me, I will never NEVER understand how anyone is this bent out of shape over this issue.
I’m also not the kind of opinionated person to say that because I don’t understand it, it must be wrong. For those of you that are happy with this compromise, congrats. For those of you that still are upset and won’t be happy until a FULL HIGH ELF model/etc is released, I think now you can be 100% certain that will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER happen. Sorry.

My eyes glow green and I have Fel colored effects on my Weapons so they match.
Now ask me what color anyone else has and I won’t have an answer.
Which should answer something, in that most of us are really just into our own toons and what they look like.
Players have gone from wanting to swing the biggest and baddest weapons, to wanting the biggest weapons and to look pretty at the same time.
It doesn’t make you more powerful, but there is something about looking good while you pummel someones face in that feels oddly satisfying!
I like this, great attitude and I agree, I don’t always understand why some players can be so passionate about particular details, but I do not simply dismiss what I don’t understand either.

Yes this, because the helfers wanted the Horde Blood Elf look all along, why not have Void Elves look EXACTLY like them.
Let NO one say anymore that it was all about the lore and not the model.

I mean that is false. Void Elves were always said by the HE community to be seen as a compromise had they come from High Elf population in the Alliance and been able to customize the HE look. We do have the lore, if we get an explicit statement on it and HE wafers being some of the new recruits.
Not everyone is happy with how to proceed, and some still want its own AR, many do see this as a compromise to play the HE’s we’ve been asking for in a poetic parallel to the way Blood Elves are also High Elves with a new name.
The point is why is the anti stance being echoed now “let no one say it was about the lore it was always the model!” Yet I have an overwhelming feeling if you want the unanimous voice of the HE community to be unhappy about this the tune would change to “See their never happy look at what’s been done to appease them why aren’t they happy” and the truth is some people just don’t like the HE community. You won’t like it if we’re happy, you won’t like it if we’re unhappy.

Blizzard can paint a blood elf any color you like.
They will not continue to be High Elves.
A placebo to patch up another placebo.

He said that was the plan on the time apparently the forums being on fire for a solid week made them just want this done with.
