High Elf Allied Race Megathread (Continuation)

You know what, let’s get back to the point.

Any of this nonsense that you have pulled out, any of it. How does that counter the fact that Theramore was being used as an active military base? Because that’s all I said that started this nonsense.

No problem. I also think that derailing this thread further is not good either.

I accept the cease-fire.

I’m glad to see that this thread is still going strong. I won’t stay long, because I don’t have the energy for the arguments, but just know that I continue to support playable Alliance high elves.

But we miss you.

Thanks, that’s sweet. I will continue to drop by occasionally to voice my support. I might not have the energy for fighting anymore, but my love of the high elves has not faded.

Not that it has relevance in this thread but to be historically accurate it was the Irish Catholics & Presbyterians that had an ongoing war in Ireland for years. I think this may be what you are referring to .

thats fine. i dont see it happening though because they are the one thing blizzard has come out and flatly said no. blood elves are high elves, the high elven story is the blood elf story. even the character creator racial info box in game starts off by describing them as THE high elves of quel’thalas

alliance high elves are also high elves, but they are not a distinct group. if they were they never would have given you void elves and told you the horde is there and waiting

thats disgusting. hawkens admits taurajo was a ‘soft target’ meaning he knew it had no military strategic value and went ahead with basically killing a civilian settlement :unamused:

Well, to be even more historically accurate it’s the Catholics and Protestants since they’re largely Anglican with a Presbyterian minority who have an ongoing war.

So Mana Addicts.

Such fart… Very triggered… Much salt… So awful… wow…

Sooo he acknowledged that a rare character existed after 6 years with no explanation or impact on the story, and said that he wanted to explore his background. Lanesh has been nothing but a bugged NPC model until then, just like the High Elves with a green glow to their eyes. Even if his model was intentional (doubt it) the tweet still proves that he’s a special case that needs a story explanation. If blue eyed Blood Elves are such a well established and common thing, then why would he need a story explanation? If anything he could just be a High Elf that decided to switch sides after the purge… Maybe in 6 more years we’ll find out.

T&E made an unbiased video about a year ago which gave good reasons as to why High Elves were a great fit for an allied race over Void Elves. You should watch it here.

I don’t need to repeat everything they stated, but bascially asking for High Elves is a more than reasonable request. You asking for blue eyes on a race that hasn’t been represented that way in forever isn’t reasonable, especially when it directly conflicts with the old style elves of that race that still exist.

Your handful of bugged NPC models (they all still have green glows to their eyes) aren’t comparable to Vereesa, Alleria, Auric, the lovely elves of Dalaran and Quel’danil lodge, the Silver Covenant mounts, tabards, and named NPCs etc.

Even if we never get playable High Elves it’s not fair to destroy the unfinished path that Blizzard has setup for them so far. We want to move forward with our High Elves and you want to move backwards with something that you already have. The Blood Elves have moved on, just let it go already.

Its irrelevant when it doesn’t suit your agenda isn’t it?, but having random NPCs as portal casters is important representation.
Why don’t you write something like this for the random Ballista in 8.2.5?
Its pure hypocrisy.

I don’t get why you guys always throw that video around and try to paint it as some kind of revelation, when its crearly biased towards their interest, specially Taliensin’s who has been pretty vocal about his interest to have High Elf elves as a playable race.

Also, Taliesin and Evitel are Wow youtubers, nothing more, they’re not authorities regarding the game. Ion is closer to that but you’re so quick to deny everything he said because… obviously it doesn’t suit your little silly request.

This whole paragraph is so funny because you’re the ones that actually want to take the story of the game backwards just because BC and Belves beign Horde is so hard to handle.
I seriously believe that the ones that NEED to get the idea that Blood Elves have moved on are you guys on the Helf camp, still clinging to Unnamed NPCS and Warcraft II memories.

Moral dillemas aren’t easy. I prefer fiction that draws closer to real life’s choices than one that’s about perfect heroes coming up with the best solution for everything.

Doesn’t mean it’s right, or that there wasn’t a better way of dealing with it, but fiction is way better when characters make hard decisions with moral implications than when they are just too perfect.

The Purge of Dalaran is one of my favorite events in the whole WoW history. You can understand Jaina’s or Vereesa’s motivations even if you don’t agree with their actions. It’s a moment of gray morality for the Alliance (who sorely needs more of it) without being plain villainy. It’s, for a change, an undeniable win for the Alliance (who really needs more wins). And it even led to much-needed intra-faction conflict between Jaina and Varian.

Plus it had high elves, you can’t get a better event than that (lol).

Yes, when you get down to it, it wasn’t morally right. It led to abuse of innocents. But that’s exactly why it’s so interesting. War is ugly, you can’t save everyone.
