High Elf Allied Race Megathread (Continuation)

Personally I’d be okay with that, but then there’s just the contextual reason of why would High Elves look closer to Night Elves than Blood Elves? It creates a connection that doesn’t exist.

That’s why personally I like more the Human Stance idea as it creates the connection to the assimilation of the High Elves into human culture, because save for the Highvale, most other high elves are being hosted by a human society.

It gives you the notion by their design alone that they are close to humans even if they are elves, which sets them aside from any other elf.

as they live in dalaran, it logically follows that they must obey the kirin tor who form the government of dalaran which again i have to remind you is open about their neutrality

they are a militia based in dalaran, pledged to serve the kirin tor. in fact, when you see them out in the field in almost all instances they are working under kirin tor leadership. the isle of thunder, the purge of dalaran and the siege of suramar are the ones people cite, and in each instance they were with the kirin tor. anyone with 2 eyes and a breath can see this as its plainly visible in game

they even HELP the horde a couple times. face it you can count the actual number of alliance aligned ‘high’ elves on 2 hands minus 4 fingers

the SC, they are a tiny group, insignificant in number and crucially, weill never be playable. as an NPC group, they are simply story props for other, more important individuals and factions and who dont even live in alliance territory but go on tell me again how they are aligned with the alliance and fighting for them at this very moment

“But, there’s two NPCs in Stromgarde who don’t even fight in the battle, and there’s a portal mage! Oh, and one in a reference group!”

Are you sure they’re not a priest?

Well depending on what they add for the face/hair/ears/textures/animations it could end up being like that any way.

Just saying Night Elf would be a perfect base without any major edits needed.

Also technically they are closer to Night Elves then Blood Elves :stuck_out_tongue:

This is jut literally your headcanon about how the political relation between the SC and the Kirin Tor works, not the reality. The reality is that the Silver Covenant is an Alliance Faction, their NPC’s still tagged as such as late as of 8.1

Because they are the Alliance leaning populace of Dalaran, members of the alliance, even when the Kirin Tor itself changes their alignment.

Alright, so every organization that joined the Unseen Path is neutral too!

That you have to make the absurd claim that an alliance faction of High Elves “doesn’t count” to make that statement is just baffling.

And yet Void Elves! But sure, so insignificant they have appeared in four expansions making them the most recurring non-playable alliance faction.

Did I ever say that every alliance group MUST LIVE on alliance territory and BE CURRENTLY fighting on the war? No, because that’s ridiculous and groups like the Jinyu, Frostborn, Kurenai, Stillpine Fulborgs, etc would not be part of the alliance.

That’s what I’m saying, they are closer to humans, than to night elves, so from a design perspective I prefer the former in terms of visual narrative.

I think at this point what is most likely to happen is dropping the faction restrictions and giving Blood Elves a blue eye option.

blue eyed blood elves i see happening with the announcement of eye color customization. it is very promising for those of us hoping to see a blue eyed option for blood elf mages with a strong devotion to the arcane to reflect the cleansing effects of the sunwell. just like they did with priests and paladins with golden eyes. i dont see faction restrictions being removed to the point of orcs walking stormwind and vice versa though

I do tbh, they have been hinting at this for a bit longer then people think and with the WM phase would make this even easier. Keep the factions but drop the restrictions outside of WM. Its literally a win-win for everyone.

This comparison is so good that I’m going to bookmark it.

Well done Talendrion, as usual. :blue_heart:

I was also able to find something really interesting about Night Elves and Nightborne today:

Probably the first cross-faction guild of the entire game! :joy:

It is hard to imagine he doesn’t or is not even remotely aware of it, especially with his and the other devs assertion they are aware that High Elves are THE MOST highly sought after playable race.

Eureka! I have an idea. :bulb:

since high elves supposedly have assimilated into the various races of alliance, make the playable version have variants as well. one looks more like nelf. another, more like human, another, more like belf, another more like kul’tiran, another more like draenei, but all are considered high elves because their primary features are elven, and they retain the slender thalassian grace.

the one that looks more nelf, would be taller
the one that looks like human would be curvier or more muscular
the one that looks kul’tiran would have their best hair/facial hair option
the one that looks draenei would have a draenei tail.
the one that looks belf would have some feature of male/female belf beyond the ears/eyebrows

to say thats not possible, when thats exactly what is described by the lore - high elves assimilated into alliance races. well there ya go.

At least you’re admitting your faults.

Ion knows about this thread for sure, but I’m sure he has better things to do then read through thousands of comments about all of us bickering with one another

I’m sure most people don’t make it past the 100 post mark.
