High Elf Allied Race Megathread (Continuation)

Haha fair enough!

Worry not, that is something that is a fault of the person responding in which case, note it, and I will review and address it accordingly.

Edit: Mowachassa where is my quote?

I was thinking to myself that Blizzard might rework the Blood Elf and Draenei starting areas to accommodate flying, giving them new looks, and most importantly, updating them to their current state in lore, and that will include making both Races Neutral as a way to progress them in the story. The only problem Draenei have with the Horde are the Orcs, but the old Horde is long gone and most of them are from a total new generation, and Draenei are known for being open hearted enough to forgive them. Who cares about the Geyah and the Ma’ghar, there’s like a squad of them and it’s not like those Draenei aren’t the same than Yrel’s lightbound. After thousands of years fighting and fleeing from the Legion, Velen and his people want nothing but some time to rest and have peace. Draenei may choose which faction they want to adventure in after questing in a revamped Azuremyst.

Blood Elves and Quel’thalas were once part of the Alliance, and even in MoP Lor’themar had talks with Varian to join the Alliance. In this case it will not be about outright joining the Alliance but just making a peace treat and reuniting the Thalassians again. In a council which the Blood Elf and High Elf leadership attend, it’s decided the kingdom will not meddle in the affairs of the Horde and the Alliance anymore, both High and Blood rejoin (that doesn’t mean they are all bestfriends forever, but they just aren’t at each other’s throats anymore) and the adventurer is free to chose if he will assist the Alliance or the Horde after doing quests in a revamped Eversong. And it would enable the option for Blue eyes for those who want to be High Elves. Both sides of the discussion wouldn’t get everything they want, but some parts, which is, well, a middle ground.

This is not what i want, i just want a High Elf Allied Race in the Alliance, just that, way more simple than all those shenanigans, with tattos, runic and arcane markings, braids, etc. though that outcome is not something i detest, it depends if it is done right, and it’s totally a possibility to be expected from Blizzard.

I’m good - thanks for asking.

What seems to be the hangup on your drawing this evening?

That’s true! I’m really glad for what he did for this community.

I think High Elves should have a Warrior archetype for their bodies since Blood Elves make use of the Mage archetype for their “thin” bodies.

Think about something between a Human and a Blood Elf for their bodies. Faces are a little bit more problematic because this mix would be ended up as a Half-elf, so that’s why I think they should use a Thalassian face, but with some savage/wild key features like Night Elves/Wood Elves.

Talendrions concepts are really close to something like that.

I’m glad you’re good!

Mostly it’s just crippling self doubt/self loathing. I hate everything I do lately.

People seem to be rather friendly tonight. Warms my heart

frankly, this response shows why i think it probably wont happen. they will come across the same design issues that led them to create void elves in the first place, too close to the blood/high elf look and you undermine the distinctiveness of blood elves and too different and you fail to satisfy the pro high elfers(kul tiran type elves). and if they reject it, whats the point? and since you cant give them what they really want, an exact replication of blood elves, they likely will continue to do nothing

The lore is already giving hints that those High Elves that we see in the Alliance are not in the same state as High Elves prior to Sunwell’s destruction.

Based on the fact that High Elves have been fighting against their magic addiction and at the same time incorporating other races culture like Elisande points out in her cutscene.

Also, keep in mind that High Elves while somewhat active their lore is a little bit stagnant so a new model alongside new lore would be more like an update for them.

With that in mind, I think that if High Elves should not be allowed to receive a new model, then Blood Elves should not be allowed to have blue eyes, because…

…and like I said before, regardless if High Elves will become playable or not.

Otherwise, those essays are pointless, because you know, they can be easily summarized as Blood Elves = High Elves. Something that I widely disagree with.

i got no dog in this fight but doing hollows end on my alt and there are high elf sorceress’s walking around with riftblade acolytes …

the difference is a political adjective

look, if pleasing the ‘high’ elf crowd was something blizzard really cared about as a top priority, ‘high’ elves would have been announced and not void elves

the rationale behind why void elves were created, not to thematically or visually intrude on a horde race, still holds and are NEVER going away :relaxed:

also dont forget ARs are pretty much done after BFA. ARs were a theme of this expansion where both factions were reaching out for new allies in an escalating war

I have the opinion (personal) that High Elves as a carbon copy will never happen. So I think it’s better to have them in another shape than nothing.

I really disgust Void Elves, I think I would be more happy with Half-Elves than those. I only leveled one because of the heritage achievement that I’ll do for all races (including Mechagnomes and Kul’tiran) then I’ll try to forget that I’ve made these characters.

Ouch! I’m sorry to hear that - and I know that saying “Hey, it’s all good!” doesn’t help at all, so I won’t. Maybe just play with it without any expectations at all and see where it leads, but again; sorry you’re feeling that way.

It happens. I decided to just do gesture drawings for a while and relax. No point in beating my head against a wall.

Warcraft 3 had many different appearances that were changed during the transition over to World of warcraft, it really isn’t a reliable source for small details, especially ones that were subject to design changes. There was no fel in Quel’thalas when it was founded, or demons to enslave and yet we can see behind Dath’remar the same crystal with the burning “evil” eyes contained within it.

It’s clear these crystals and multiple purposes, and not all of them were to process fel magic.

That’s why I keep saying that some of you guys are selfish. This kind of statement clearly shows that you guys are not here to discuss anything, your only objective is to say “No High Elves” in the maximum number of ways possible.

Meanwhile, I see the High Elf fans doing their best to give Blizzard the maximum amount of ideas to how they can add High Elves properly, and at the same time, they also keep thinking about what can be made to not touch Blood Elves lore and themes.

Your attitude has nothing to do with High Elves, Blood Elves or any other race. It’s just another part of the Horde agenda to not allow Alliance to get anything they want, or anything cool, so Horde can keep dominating the game in every way possible.

any alterations require a lore reason. otherwise it is something new. it is something that is no longer a blood/high elf. tals art is just fanfiction, it has no bearing on the game in any capacity. so far everything put forth has been something that a blood elf can pull off. its mostly blood elves with a different hairstyle. a hairstyle is not an AR

blizzard already made the effort to differentiate a group of thalassian elves in a meaningful way from the majority of their race, different enough that they would qualify as an AR. this was the void elves, a group nobody is ever going to mistake as being a blood/high elf. the problem becomes once you move closer than what a void elf is, you begin infringing on the thematic and aesthetic integrity of the horde and the blood elves
