I think Blizzard did a good job with the Zandalari and gave them optional racials through the different loas they follow. Perhaps they could do the same thing with High Elves, since there are so many different groups of them that live relatively different from their Horde-aligned kin. If not, then I’d say making it ranger themed. Make their ranged attacks a little further than the other races, and give them Eagle Eye as a racial ability. Random ideas, but nothing too major that will throw off the balance.
Once WoW has lost almost its entire player base then and only then will Blizzard release High Elves.
It’s the Xel’Naga artifact of the dev team. They’ll only unleash its full power when the zerg have completley overrun the base
bump for interest. OP put a lot of work into this!
High Elves as Alliance allied race is the most popular topic out of all the allied races out there. Every poll I have visited on the topic always shows High Elves on top. I doubt Blizzard will wait till the end of WoW for them to release them.
Pretty sure people said the same thing about Classic as well. Not just sure, but confident that they did.
It’s the best Allied Race Thread in all of Blizzard’s WoW Forums. That’s what putting a lot of work into something can do.
Ooooo High Elves! No.
I can’t wait to see what’s in store for High Elves now that we have seen them at Orgrimmar! They must even have a siegeworks, which probably means a settlement too. Highvale maybe?
Highvales are my favorite concept of High Elves. I imagine their main settlement in the Hinterlands being expanded or filled in more.
That would be really cool!
I like the idea of the Silver Covenant being an elite task force carrying out specialised Alliance missions. They’ve been more of a “crack squad” than the Void Elves, and since they’re already a playable race…
I hate to say it but the ballistas at org were probably either a trolling effort, or just a 3d asset that Blizz was too lazy to change colors on. We unfortunately only got to see a cameo appearance by Vereesa, and No other high elves.
Honestly I would love high elves but I just don’t see it as a realistic prospect given how we’ve now got the void variety.
The only thing I do think is realistic is for Alleria to bring in the remaining high elves wholesale into the void elf fold. That would mean we could legitimately roleplay a high elf - because they are directly from Alliance not Horde, and they could get ‘normal’ skin tones (albeit different shades to blood elves).
To me being ‘void’ is probably similar to being ‘fel’ like a demon hunter, and demon hunters do in fact have the option to look pretty much identical to a normal night elf or blood elf (except the eyes of course).
It really seems utterly debunked this argument about identifying faction on the battlefield, given how void elves do in fact look identical in full armour. Nightborne also could easily be confused for night elves. Also pandaren of course.
I mean brown orcs are effectively the equivalent to high elves on the greatly requested ‘sub-race’ list. Not only was this request granted in full, but it was given extra bonuses in that one can pick which clan. It’s fantastic to have the choice between a blackrock or frostwolf orc, for example.
Surely it’s not so much to ask for a high elf version of a recently converted to void?
Again, I would prefer just high elves as an Allied Race, but it does seem hard to imagine them putting in another reskin of the same model-- and I do think it should use the same base model as the blood elf. I mean perhaps they could make them a little more bulky, but is there any precedent for that?
I still support High Elves for the Alliance if the Horde gets Ogres.
You’ve got yourself a deal. I 100% support playable ogres. Both one and two head variants.
That’s exactly how Blizz handled adding Zandalari trolls and differentiating them from Darkspears. Made them bulkier, ‘prettier’ and more upright.
I wouldn’t say they were bulkier at all.
That would be Amani.
Also it’s already quite established that blood elves physically are identical to high elves (as in their build). That doesn’t at all exclude them from being an Allied Race of course, given how most of the others so far have been just repaints.
They could look as distinct as void elves do, which really is the point I think.
High Elves for the Alliance please!!!
Jesus, I highly dislike the thought of adding high elves to the Alliance and even I think the ammount of times this thread gets locked is ridiculous.
Good luck to you guys
Just like the Lich King, there must always be a High Elf thread.
It’s one of the immutable laws of the forum.
cosmetic changes such as giving a blood elf different hairstyles and smearing on make up are not enough. this has literally become the ‘if we bump this topic long enough and hard enough theyll break’ approach
high elves are blood elves, a statement backed by lore and development. they arent an alliance AR. they arent an alliance core race because they are already a core horde race. they arent an alliance race in any standing beyond a couple decorative NPCs in stormwind and literally again a couple in the most recent content(BFA). its all about being a light skinned and majestic elf for you preferred faction in a fantasy mmo and everybody knows it
if they are such a visible and ‘iconic’ alliance race in modern times then where are they? we just played through the entire fourth war in BFA. not a single high elf appeared in the quest experience or the war campaign. are they invisible? you have alleria and the void elves. thats it. the SC are not an AR they are a splinter faction of the blood elves in dalaran which they put first. every time they appear to help the alliance it is in the context of the kirin tor as evidenced by the kirin tor NPCs they always appear with. they even help the horde a couple times. specifically the blood elves. we have even already seen their leader become doubtful of her alliance sympathies
if you are going to claim the high elf race should be made neutral and you should get access to a horde race without playing the horde, at least have evidence to back it up. because that is what this request means. that a couple decorative portal keepers have enough relevancy to the story as the blood elves is fanfiction, that they are proof that alliance high elves have been an alliance race all this time is comical. they are there to reflect the lore that a few individuals remained not an alliance high elf army, and thats it. high elves left the alliance, the story moved on, if you want to play one then you have to play the faction they belong to
