I think itâs really best to not invoke the devs for either side. Opinions in corporations change all the time with leadership, new members and a matter of other things.

ion himself is the one who first teased they were working on a subrace system, and threw alliance high elves and browns orcs out there so at one point they were a possibility. obviously after an internal debate, they came to the conclusions that high elves are already playable(validating the anti position), only a few individuals are actually aligned with alliance and created a high elf variant for the alliance. the reasons they were denied also arent going away with a new game director 
Unless they have a press release actually stating this as fact, it is just speculation.

Giving that race directly to the Alliance would have blurred a lot of the lines between the two factions, but also there isnât a clear example of who or what High Elves are as a larger group which remains in Azeroth. Thereâs a coupleâŠwe just met Alleria againâŠbut theyâre not out there in the same way. When we add an Allied Race, thereâs a desire to have things be even more distinct especially between the two factions with the faction conflict being so prominent. And so, the Void Elf angle, as it tied into the story of Argus, the powers of Alleria awakened and was able to train others to harness, was able to give something that felt a bit like a Blood Elf but had a unique flavor of its own to the Alliance.
That said, obviously I understand you would love Alliance elvesâŠyouâre an Alliance player, and want to be a fair-skinned, light-haired, blue-eyed elf. Sorry? The Horde is there and waiting for you. Eye color is not quite the same but maybe contact lenses in the future, you never know? Anything is possible in the future, but no plans in the near-term to add High Elves as an Allied Race.

There is this common misconception that the High Elves are magical prudes. This description is only accurate for those High Elves domiciled in either QuelâLithien or QuelâDanil, and as of this moment the former have all been turned into Wretched and the latter remains unassuming and unaffiliated.
The overwhelming majority of all modern High Elves live in Dalaran, with a sizable number of those serving in the Silver Covenant and a less sizable number serving in the 7th Legion. These HEâs arenât averse to magic, in the slightest, and in fact are stated to be some of the more masterful practitioners.

shes playing a gnome atm. but sheâs skipping all content that contains alliance high elves so she can declare that they are not part of the alliance experience. for example, she skipped argent tournament quest hub and isle of thunder quest chain. the isle of thunder quest chain literally starts with veressa taking you on griffon to the isle of thunder, to a boat with sc and kirin tor on it, where you end up working with her, the kirin tor, jaina and the sc

Like the Blood Elves arenât doing Blood Magic right now or something.
Theyâre not responsible for Void Elves.
If there is some kind of inconsistency in the alliance itâs more to do with Lightforged Draenei and Void Elves than anything else Iâd think.

You have conveniently skipped the beginning of Ionâs speech:
Basically, Blood Elves kind of are High Elves, with a slight different eye color, different backstory in terms of, you know, their relationship with magic and the Sunwell
We got two arguments here that are not in line with antisâ stance:
- Ion recognizes the differences between High Elves and Blood Elves beyond their political affiliation.
- High Elves and Blood Elves have a different relationship with the Sunwell.

Right now High Elves are in the Alliance with Void Elves who are using Void magic on BABY Jurassic Park Raptors. This is heinousâŠ
Donât you think itâd make more sense if the rejoined the Blood Elves so they could do BLOOD magic rituals in Nazmir?
Theyâd also get to hang out with the Undead! Who burned down Teldrassil and use the plague on anything thatâs alive! Including living Horde combatants! The Grass is so much greener on the Horde side, and by greener, I mean that weird undead creep color from Warcraft 3!

Weak⊠we know they are not genetically different races⊠Blood elves are being made to fill the ârollâ of high elves and itâs a shame too because it waters them down.
They are politically different, and with the whole faux faction pride they tried to elicit⊠the barrier should be lowered enough that playable high elves on alliance isnât s huge deal? And if it is to some people? Idk what to say.

That statement can be interpreted a hundred ways because he says many things, including that they want feedback on what players want for allied races (always conveniently left out). Since the forum blues have let the discussion continue, theres no issue with discussing high elves as an allied race and the repetitive posting of said video and quotes is just trolling at this point.
