Blizzard closed the “Why High Elves won’t work” thread. It could be reasonably inferred from that action that their intent is to - as much as possible - corral all of the comments, for and against, in one thread.
The High Elf innkeeper in the Alliance area is also unfriendly to Horde players, and she wasn’t made to kick them out of there.
The SC elves in the Argent Tournament are also unfriendly to Horde players. No kicking involved there afaik.
The SC flight paths outside Dalaran are hostile to Horde players. They kill you on sight.
Your theory is untenable from any perspective. As usual.
But you do you.
Ok, I know I know, this is probably bordering on sacrilege - but I would roll one of those on Day One.
I am still wondering about that as that was a thread more about if they should or should not be added. it was the more appropriate thread for discussions that get dragged in here. It’s weird it was closed.
The devs say that because they are ignorants regarding (Alliance) High Elf lore. And this is not meant to be a criticism - it’s completely normal and logical they don’t remember absolutely everything about WoW’s lore.
They had also said Kurdran Wildhammer was dead - it had to be Ian Bates, a player, who reminded them that they were wrong and that he was pretty much alive. Which is why we have the Wildhammer Fact Checker NPC in Ironforge.
Ok then; where are the Hub-sized High Elf conclaves they could come from other than emptying out Dalaran?
I brought this specific proposal up earlier.
This thematic is typically gathered under the proposed “Highvale Elves”, and it’s not very well-received by either side – for exactly the reason(s) you’re referring to. There are a plethora of alternatives which are much more visually divergent, with narrative hooks that further differentiate them from Blood Elves, but which are almost never spoken to at all.
- We have “Silver Elves”.
- We have “Storm Elves”.
- I’ve seen people propose something I’d probably call “pseudo-Void Elves”, whereby instead of giving HE-inspired customization options to Void Elves we see the existing HE’s begin to utilize the Void at an aesthetic level.
The term “lore”, in the context of this game, is used synonymous with “history” – which would suggest the expression “lore purism” is probably best understood as “historical truth”.
Why wouldn’t the people asking for High Elves (who are well-established in the narrative history of the game) be critical of the decision to implement Void Elves (who are not well-established in the narrative history of the game)?
The reason many fans of High Elves aren’t happy with Void Elves is the same reason why many fans of Taunka or Yaungol aren’t happy with Highmountain Tauren, or why fans of Broken aren’t happy with Lightforged Draenei – because Blizzard opted to ignore a long-standing request in favor of something new. The only reason we’re seeing more backlash from Void Elves is because there are more people interested in High Elves than there are in Yaungol or Broken.
Edit: To that last point, consider how much backlash their was initially to Kul Tirans when Vrykul were just updated visually in Legion. At their first inclusion into the game, people were wondering why Blizzard didn’t just implement Vrykul instead – though, admittedly, the Kul Tirans have succeeded in carving out their place in the setting, probably owing to how prolific their involvement in BfA has been. The same can’t be said for Void Elves (yet).
Just look at the comments on this fan-made, Vrykul-inspired re-imagining of Kul Tiran women:

Yeah im upset they closed it. It had like 12k post. It obviously had its support as a thread. Not happy the thread existed, but not enough to want it closed.
High vale is perfectly acceptable, given the size of telogrus rift it’s more of a capital or congregation area. if they leave dalaran and go there they could fortify it with towers and such.
Uh what? You must be confusing me with someone else as I’ve never suggested High elves don’t exist, or that some aren’t Alliance. Please don’t completely fabricate my words to suit your argument.
Only when they’re said to have changed, not because you said so.
did you know it was possible for horde to get into the alliance safe space in old dalaran? ofc the npcs are marked in here as hostile, because as a horde player you shouldnt be there. if they arent you wont get detected and teleported out. once flying came in this was even easier to do especially as a stealthy you could go in a little bit further
The SC elves in the Argent Tournament are also unfriendly to Horde players. No kicking involved there afaik.
this is for the same reason as above. they are protecting the alliance safe space at the tournament, in the same capacity as the sunreavers. if you look at the banners above the tent you will also see the alliance race banners represented. guess which one doesnt exist
They had also said Kurdran Wildhammer was dead - it had to be Ian Bates, a player, who reminded them that they were wrong and that he was pretty much alive. Which is why we have the Wildhammer Fact Checker NPC in Ironforge.
you are comparing their knowledge of a single NPC to their knowledge of a race. and when it was pointed out what did they do? they acknowledged it and fixed it
if they leave dalaran and go there they could fortify it with towers and such.
they have had every opportunity to leave the neutrality of dalaran/kirin tor. if they didnt leave with jaina, their only friend in the alliance, or because of the faction war playing out right now what other logical reason would there be
Changes to the Embassy from the Vulpra Thread.

Seems they are making room for new races.
Possibly making the recruitment scenarios more neutral to the story.
try going into any other AR thread and argue against their inclusion and look how fast you are silenced for disturbing the peace. hehe
Weird to change it now, but it was reflective of the leaders pre bfa.
Why would Vulpera be Neutral?
Highly doubt they go neutral. We torched them.
Allied Races being more neutral in to the story in their recruitment.
Because right now it’s specific to certain moments in lore. This lets it make a bit more sense to people coming to unlock them several Xpacs from now.
Why would Vulpera be Neutral?
He didn’t say vulpera will be neutral.
He said “Possibly making the recruitment scenarios more neutral to the story”, i.e.: the recruitment won’t be tied down exclusively to BfA’s time period. You’ll probably just have the story scenarios, without the talking with Sylvanas/Anduin that defines the period as one of war.
I didn’t know Allied races would continue beyond BFA
