High Elf Allied Race Megathread (Continuation)

I dont see how its simply “coding” though. The image which is absolute default settings further cement other things showcased in the game:

Vereesa Windrunner the leader of the SC is present in the Alliance pvp artifact celebration event.

Vereesa expicitly tells you in Suramar if youre Horde she doesnt trust you because of your faction.

Kirin Tor Peacekeepers have a text saying Vereesa tried to shoot Rommath.

Neutral Parties shouldnt act that way. Nor be flagged as such. Its not inconsistant after considering other events presented.

I feel like we’re lead to believe that High Elves tend to not “use” or even “get” whatever magic from the Sunwell they’re apparently supposed to, otherwise they would also have yellow eyes right?

But from what the developers said, only the “Light sensitive” Elfs get yellow eyes, so we’re lead to believe that some Elfs simple don’t get the “Light influence” and retained, Green blood elf eyes or Blue High Elf eyes.

I have a headache. Blizzard has committed a crime in not really flushing this out.

Whew… that was a lot of scrolling. Good to see the conversation is still going, and at what appears to be a pretty steady pace too!

Honestly I would drop this SC neutrality thing. It’s like talking to a wall. They don’t even admit Silver Covenant NPCs attack on sight Horde players in their Northrend flight paths.

Oh, well, in this case I would just add that even with the Sunwell, the temptation of magic can still break the Thalassian’s minds, one of the most recent examples is in Talador (I think) with two blood elves, a Blood elf Magister and his apprentice, a female Blood elf. This female was loosing control when facing a big source of magic.

Other example is a bit older but the blood elf magistrix we did quests for in Thousand needles before Cataclysm ended up as a Wretched, and the Sunwell was certainly there.

Seems like she drained too much magic from a single sample of a moonwell.

So first of all you avoided answering my initial question, where does it say that an elf needs to be harmonized with the essence of M’uru to use the light of the Sunwell, and where you came up with that theory.

Second of all

Being “classical” users of the light does not suggest that they do not draw upon the Sunwell’s light in a similar fashion that the Blood Elves do. This is where you’re fabricating a cultural ideal that is not hinted or implied anywhere in the game or lore. When Lor’themar mentions that some will need to adjust to the Light of the Sunwell Aurora clearly states that she does not as she already knows this light and wields it around her fingers in front of him. That entire entry is essentally summarizing that High Elves are just as connected to the Sunwell as the Blood elves, suggesting otherwise with literally zero evidence is merely headcanon.

Is it a possibility? Yes. But a possibility that has not been implied or inferred in any way in-game or lore. The whole instance with Aurora stating that she is already familiar with the light and clarifying that those who wield the light will have no problem adjusting to it is pretty compelling evidence of this.

Anything and everything is a possibility when stretched far enough, but whether or not it’s probable is another story. There are many theories that could be made with zero evidence to support them that cannot be disproven because it was never something that was in question in the first place. With High elves residing at the well, and Aurora herself rationalizing no longer needing to cope with the restoration of the Well is evidence of this.

In the end any of us can put forth countless theories of what could, and can happen, but don’t try to use the fact that nothing “disproves” it as evidence that it’s probable or possible.

Sure, that might be the case for certain individuals, but for almost an entire lodge?

That plus the fact that High Elves still retain their normal eyes are indicative they’re not actively using the Sunwell.

Official confirmation is needed, of course. Although we did have Ion explicitly say their relationship with the Sunwell was different from that of Blood Elves.

irrelevant as the nature of the relic they were dealing with is unknown. It says they were seduced by it’s power, it says nothing about needing to sate their addictions. Umbric and the current void elves sought the same thing, and were “Seduced” by the potential power of the void, and look what happened to them. They did not seek out the powers of the void to sate their magical addiction, they did it seeking greater power.

SC npcs attack horde that get too close to the alliance safe spaces in northrend an expansion almost a decade old so what? did they withdraw from the kirin tor and move from dalaran to stormwind? did they join the alliance in storming the beaches of zuldazar? they have a closer relationship with jaina then anyone in the alliance yet they no longer are her entourage since she left the kirin tor

and in the next expansion after that they come to the aid of the horde independent of dalaran and the kirin tor. if they werent neutral this would never have happened

eye color matters as much as hair color :joy:

Does this mean that Lor’themar and a majority of the Blood elves also aren’t drawing from the Sunwell because they too don’t have gold eyes? Didn’t Oreahna just post a tweet saying that gold eyes has more to do with an elf’s devotion to the light than simply being connected to the Sunwell… He then even goes on to further an argument I’ve been making since the beginning that NPC will only EVER have gold eyes when they’re a light-wielding class or some other story element supports it.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought of Dragon Elves when I saw Wrathion. I actually want to play this more than Silver Covenant High Elves now.

That’s a cool concept. Final fantasy has something like that but they just look like people with real bad Psoriasis.

I think before we just keep adding another flavor of “human” we should think about adding just straight up dragon-kin. Something more monstrous which the Alliance desperately need, right after High Elves.

Well to be fair, this is the form dragons usually take when interacting with mortals. So it is quite appropriate.

Maybe their active racial will be one that turns them more draconic for a big dps increase or something.

I would enjoy a dragonkin race I think, but separate from our high elves.

No, during the starter questlines in Silvermoon it literally says they are recent outcasts of Quel’thalas who’s numbers grow every day. Some you even see change right before your eyes. You must be really desperate to be completely fabricating excuses with absolutely zero evidence. It’s one thing to simply not want blue eyes for blood elves, but it’s another to try twist every bit of lore to suit your agenda.

And the Wretched around the Sunwell are legion-aligned wretched, not simply exiled wretched Blood Elves you find around the starter zones. That’s why their eyes are glowing green, as their diet is now supplied entirely of Fel.

Actually, in the RTS games, and even in WoW, Garona Halforcen, is half-Draenei and half-Orc. But…BUT! In the movie, they made her half-Human and half-Orc!

I really want to start on some concept sketches for a storm elf shaman, but I have to work on a self portrait for class.

I will start on one after though! More and more I love the idea.

What would a storm elf shaman look like? o.O

I’ve always thought a high elf priest turned fire mage would be a pretty cool idea. Where instead of just standard fire they’d use a variety of holy fire, and burning light spells.

So…by your logic…when you use gas to light a fire, the gas is there eternally. Who knew we had infinite energy!
