Neither are Alliance-aligned High Elves?
Im against some of the requested ARs talked about on here. I dont go in there to try and put them down just because I dont want them. Everyone has the ability to discuss what they want as future content.
there are factions that work against their people for every race
they are not adding high elves to the game for a second time
Theres a lot of regulars for either, but I dont want to see a thread turned into a contest over âwe have more people than youâ. Its just picking a fight.
A. No one but blizz can truly determine how many people are on one side or the other, so players shouldnt even try to make stuff up
B. Its not a vote or petition so it doesnt even matter what side has how many.
Conclusion: numbers dont matter.
youâre the coolest helfer imo. <3
They already did add them for a second time, theyâre called Void Elves.
As they recently decided to add a fourth unique flavor of Human, Iâm cautiously optimistic about the odds of seeing playable High Elves someday.
In any case, thereâs absolutely no way you can know what Blizzard will, or wonât do, unless youâre sharing insider information blatantly here on the forums â in which case, I hope youâve got a good lawyer.
yes but void elves are a variant of high/blood elves
they arent going back to the drawing board because you didnt accept the first take. and if there is a requisite for an AR, not being identical to an already playable race is one of them
Aw well youre my favorite bloodthirsty orc!
I havent heard much about storm elves. Can someone fill me in on this idea?
velves are legit belves. helves are a completely different thing. youâre anti helf but apparently see nothing wrong with alliance belves? 0.o
those void elves share the exact same high elf model and lore you claim its all about. void elves literally answered this threads request with how to make a high/blood elf distinct enough to be an AR
If that was true, then we wouldnât have the Lightforged Draenei and the Highmountain Tauren.
i donât think helves should be an allied raceâŠ
⊠they should be a core race with their own starting zone, starting at level 1, the same as the ogres horde should get at the same time.
this was planned and implemented back in TBC. the only thing a few people refuse to accept is that they are aligned with monsters
Jaina and thrall would like to talk to you two about a double date.
I doubt blizzard will do any new core race unless its required for the expansion. ARs will be the future route. It also makes sense since most of these elves have been fighting wars and battles for many years already.
This is the truth.
This isâŠwellâŠ
As are High Elves. Theyâre all unique flavors of Thalassians.
The only legitimate critique is that theyâre too visually similar to Blood Elves. What youâll find, if you actually read any of the long-winded proposals for playable High Elves, is that many of the people herein are perfectly happy with HEâs becoming more divergent from BEâs â by basically any means imaginable.
Alamaraâs âStorm Elvesâ is a great example of one such proposal. In such a scenario, they share almost nothing with Blood Elve â they donât share skin tones, they donât share eye color, they donât share hair styles, they donât share hair colors, they donât share magical themes, they donât require use of the Sunwell, they donât have an interest in the Sunwell, and IIRC they donât even have access to Paladin.
They went back once already. Unless youâre Bobby Kotick slumming it here in General Discussion, youâve got no way of knowing what they will or wonât do â especially as it relates to the most highly requested race for the last ~15 years straight.
This was posted by Alamara shortly after Void Elves were released.
Proposition 1: The Storm Staff of Antonidas (âStorm Elvesâ): Back in MoP, blood elves got access to the powers of anima (blood), while the Silver Covenant helped Jaina create the Storm Staff of Antonidas, with the powers of vita (lightning). We didnât see the Storm Staff since then. What if⊠Jaina worked with the Silver Covenant to study the Storm Staff?
Now, away from Dalaran, the Silver Covenant use the Storm Staff as a new power source.
The high elves that pass a ritual involving the staff are cured of their magical addition. Now, they have lightning eyes and tatoo-like lightning marks over their skin. They also get new skin and hair colors (in addition to some of the normal ones), as well as access to the shaman class.
Their crest becomes a blue thunderbird rising from a lightning bolt.
In 2017, if someone asked me if Thalassian Elves are playable, i would respond: yes, through the Blood Elves. If they asked me if High Elves are playable, i would respond no, and they probably never going to be because they arenât exactly a different race from Blood Elves, they are a subrace and Blizzard donât do subraces. Maâghar Orcs are just Orcs, Lightforged Draenei are just Draenei, Dark Iron Dwarves are just Dwarves, none of them are a different race to justify being playable.
Latter on that year, Blizzard announced Allied Races. Basically Allied Races are just subraces, they are not their own thing, just a variation of existing Core Races created to increase character customization and options (so far). With that in mind, and considering the Alliance already have a Thalassian subrace derived from the Blood Elves themselves, saying that High Elves are playable through Blood Elves is one of the most stupid and delusional affirmations someone can ever come to bring. Itâs like saying that Void Elves were playable since 2007 as Blood Elves.
I would not support High Elves if the Allied Race system wasnât a thing. In fact the support for High Elves increased by a large margin since Blizzard introduced the system, people were asking for subraces for a long time and Blizzard gave us, now you have a group of High Elves in the Alliance that is open to became playable, if the issue is that they are visually similar to Blood Elves, then change them in a way they no longer are similar to Blood Elves, itâs just a character model, itâs not a book of established lore.
Thank you, I was searching for the storm elves post. <3
but they arent monsters in wow. in wow, they are honorable or tragic, etc. the devs turned everything upside down. night elves are dark elves and so are nightborne, highborne, blood elves, sc, and void elves. ainât an actual high elf in the traditional sense, in the game. youâre the closest thing to a traditional elf, and because of that, they started blood elves out as rather evil, who turn good because of their dealings with noble and honorable horde.
