Valeera has always been an enigma when it comes to her loyalties. She proudly states that she’s a Blood Elf, and justifies the Blood elves allegiances, and choices and still considers herself a fierce defender of her people. But she also seems very honor bound to her duty to keep the throne of the alliance safe, and it will be interesting to see her interact with the Alliance-aligned high elves like Alleria and Vareesa.
Yeah, it will be interesting… the webs that Blizzard has tangled themselves in with this story is crazy.
I just think they have a hard time with commiting a full out nasty feud between the Blood elves and Alliance… we always fight the rest of the horde with out question… but when it comes to Blood elves it’s the most gray area.
Yeah you know, I’ve noticed this myself too. That whenever it comes to showing the warring races battling in cut scenes, or taking part in important battles Blood elves are either largely absent, or playing very minor roles in the actual battles. They even went as far as to tease the idea of Blood elves rejoining the Alliance in MoP.
Perhaps its because they don’t want to throw it in the Alliance’s face, or aren’t comfortable with such a huge shift in their narrative from being once allies, to now enemies of my friends.
It the group on the opposite side that the alliance has the most common ground with, next to now the nightborne.
Blizz is constantly teasing the “redemption” of the Blood elves in comics and books and such… which makes for a good written story but when it comes to this game… it’s too late, it wouldn’t work. I hope they don’t try to split the current blood elves up… but who knows, a lot of rumors swirling about the faction system biting the dust…
I don’t like the idea, but it would allow for a greater story of high elves and blood elves reuniting (I don’t want this with the current faction system, would kind of work without factions.) and would open up the customization with out one side having ownership of one or the other? Idk
Yeah, it’s looking even more likely with the direction the story is going and especially now that they’re making Valeera a prominent character with a new updated character model (suggesting that she’s playing a major role soon.) and it just so happens that Valeera is the only blood Elf loyal to both the Sin’dorei and the throne to the Alliance.
Relinquishing the faction restrictions can be a really good thing if done correctly, like simply giving players the choice to whether or not they want want to be involved in a faction war, or cooperate with either side. This duality is being reflected a lot in the current story with some members of the factions striving for peace while others burn for vengeance and war.
Got no dog in this fight and just finished reading a fair amount of posts(not all, I have a life)
Here it is: you’re all nuts.
Quit drinking coffee, get some breakfast and leave it for a day or two.
Step back and look, in the grand perspective of this game over all.
Blizzard is still bleeding subs and canning nearly a thousand employees was a warning shot that we should all notice.
Any gaming company that can’t keep subs is going to become more and more desperate; this never bodes well for gameplay.
So quit picking nits, band together and go after the REAL problems in this game, one of which is NOT who plays what elf and where.
Otherwise our future is going to be mobile, micro transactions, and fading memories.
Goodbye.
She does appear as a messenger and agent for Baine in the war campaign.
Hence why her loyalties are so mixed, she is loyal to house Wrynn because of her close friendship with Varian, and now Baine and Anduin are best buds… so she’s a good go between with those two.
Tbh I’d love for more support from the community (not high elves, positive things for wow in general) but any time the high road is taken and people agree on something… Blizzard literally chucks a u turn away from those ideas…
There also seems to be an assumption on the forums that when one group is getting something the other group loses out on what they wanted for themselves.
Edit: Just because a company removes much of its staff doesn’t always mean it is doing poorly. My company “restructures” all the time and becomes more profitable sometimes. Just depends on how innovative Blizzard wants to get with player features to stay ahead of the curve and interest new and old players both.
Hypothetically, if the factions disappeared, it would be amazing to see how various interrelated groups function going forward.
It would be interesting to see the narrative move away from Alliance versus Horde, instead revolving around the various loosely related ethnogroups.
- Humans (Stormwind, Gilneas, Kul Tiras, Dalaran)
- Thalassians (Quel’thalas, Dalaran, VE’s Space Academy)
- Night Elves (Eldre’thalas, Darnassus/Stormwind Homeless Shelter, Suramar)
So on and so forth.
Like oh, I don’t know, me? These eyes aren’t shining with Light magic. It’s nature - life - magic, pouring out of these golden orbs.
First of all, I’m mad that you can post pictures. Second of all i find it highly amusing that for a guy so against blue eyes for blood elves, that he can’t tell the difference between green and gold eyes. Oh the irony if he turns out to be color blind and can’t tell the difference anyway lol
Btw, why do belves have green eyes?
Depends. Some blood elves are walocks, and fed off demons and fel crystals to satiate their magical addictions, while the rest were merely exposed to radiation emanating from the Fel crystals keeping their fair city afloat and operational.
I get why for locks but it never really dawned on me that a race addicted to the Arcane had green eyes. I forgot about the crystals.
Carry on.
I am wondering what they are keeping hidden from us from 8.2.5, and hoping it pertains to our high elves. Would be amazing if they play a role in the upcoming story.
Iam sure we will find out as more dataming is done, but iam not holding my breath, the story doesn’t really seem to flow well. For right now we are still on Scene break from Darkshore and the events going on there.
I am not holding my breath either, but I can dream.
