I don’t consider them outcasts. And the NPCs you mention probably have firsthand knowledge and are still bitter.
I say, give them a chance and let them return. I’m sure others will agree: others of the Alliance, as the word of a Belf TRAITOR hardly carries weight with us.

The only bad blood the Night Elves have with Thalassians is between them and the Blood Elves.
It’s just obvious that the Night Elves have no quarrels with the Alliance High Elves, otherwise they would not be fighting under the same banners.

True, it has been many years since the Highborne exile, but it seems that many Night elves still hold the Highborne responsible for their actions of the past. Tyrande has always been an exception to this though, as she has always shown mercy toward them for their transgressions. After all it was the Highborne that helped her escape the legion, and she has no problem working with Kael’thas and the Blood Elves in WC3, even going as far as sacrificing herself to save him and his people, something that baffled Maev and other Night elves.

And yet in recent events when the Night Elf priest associated herself with the Highborne, she was literally outcast from her own people. And Shandris herself literally stated that if it weren’t for Tyrande she would have killed them all.
Some Night Elves being okay with working with high elves does not eliminate the animosity and bitterness many feel for them. When they were stationed in front of Suramar, many of the pranks Night elves pulled on the Blood Elves were insulting to Thalassian elves in general; insulting their sunwell, and their addictions to mana.

You don’t threaten to kill highborne on sight if you’re friendly with them. You don’t outcast your own kind for merely associating with Highborne if you’re friendly with them. You don’t openly insult their culture, their struggles and most precious and sacred site if you’re friendly with them.
No ones saying that there aren’t some Night Elves who are open being friendly to high elves, but Night elf society at large do not trust them. And many still hold them responsible for their actions in the past.
While the Blood Elves literally welcome High elves back to Quel’danis, and on multiple occasions show a desire for reunification among their people. I can’t understand why anyone would think it would be more natural to return to a society that distrusts them over a place they called home for hundreds of years, where many of their family and friends still reside.

Okay, but no one should sit here and say its “easier” to accept that the Night elves might make a complete change and suddenly accept them fully as a society over the Blood Elves that would already welcome them home with open arms if they so chose.
