Correction, it was be imprisoned or die. I remember seeing a blood elf desperately trying to collect his live savings in the bank, only for a Silver Covenant elf to stab him in the back.
I believe they won’t give it much lipservice despite the high demand because to do so would be to admit they made a mistake. They will either not address the corrupting effects of the void and develop void elves as surrogates for high elves or they can actually add high elves and develop both races separately.
Sweet, so by this logic.
I would like Worgen, humans, Dranei, not gnomes you can keep them, on the Horde faction because it would bring variety for the Horde.
Which is why you pick a faction accordingly because of what each one offers. your suggestion is basically “Factions no longer matter in regards to what options are there.”.
Faction identity is important, so no, variety has to be looked upon holistically and not within the scope of a singular faction.
Play a blood elf. Alliance does not need everything that the Horde has, variety can be gained by playing the other faction.
I forgot to correct it earlier and lazily pulled it from a list. I mentioned how Jaina and Vereesa went about slaughtering blood elves.
But I know you are asking only out of spite, not because they have a history in the Horde, or even that you have any real interest in them. Your only interest is to deny us.
No, my point is that your point on variety was totally baseless.
Sure. And high elves are already Alliance. Since 1995.
And yet the horde can have purple/blue elves and flesh toned. The horde gets day themed and night themed. The alliance gets only blue/purple themed and night themed plus shadow/darkness. Such variety!
like it or not, a sense of justified ownership over the high elf theme, lore and aesthetic has now developed within the horde. because they are themes, lore and aesthetic of a core horde race. because blood elves ARE high elves
it is the same sense of ownership we feel over undead or goblin or tauren or orc or any other aspect of a horde race, something that now comprises a unique part of horde identity which would be diminished by being compelled to share it and that sense of identity is now nearly thirteen years old. no other faction specific race in the game faces this demand and it is fundamentally unfair to expect horde players in general and blood elf players specifically to compromise their fantasy in this game to suit a VERY small number of alliance players who have not reconciled themselves to the reality of how the factions turned out in this game
no. as the vast majority of the living high elf population is horde, horde has claim
it is also worth remembering the impact playable alliance high elves would now have on void elves. remember, void elves were created to give the alliance a distinct thalassian elf variant in lieu of actual high elves
playable alliance high elves would damage void elves by undermining their role as the thalassian elves of the alliance, and they would be marginalised by players who would prefer high elf aesthetics over void elf looks
it would also land us in the weird situation where the alliance has access to two kind of thalassians, one of which is identical to a core horde race, while the Horde only has one despite having the majority of the population by far. would the horde need yet another thalassian model to balance those scales? four elf races is already too much, six would be ridiculous
the desire for high elves is the desire to have access to the most popular race in the game, a fair skinned majestic elf, a core horde race without being horde. anyone with 2 eyes and a breath can see this
this is unfair to the horde and unfair to the blood elves because, and there is no way around it, blood elves ARE high elves and the alliance high elves you want are basically blood elves with a different political opinion
Your constant self-victimization leads you to misinterpret my ironic response to you.
If variety is an argument then it can be applied everywhere despite that variety being available on the other faction. I should have a human race for the horde because it gives the horde variety, and the horde has worked with humans in the past. That does not necessarily mean it is a proper argument if those humans I wish to play already exist on a different faction.
This is the same with blood elves. Just as ION said, if you want a pale elf, that is the horde. It would be ethically wrong to wish to maintain faction diversity, then give the exact same race to the opposing faction. Void elves at least are very different lore and appearance wise.
No, your point was “I want what the horde have because it brings variety to a different faction.” Which makes little sense because it actually removes diversity by ensuring both sides have the exact same thing available.
Warcraft 3 happened. Come back to the present.
Well…yeah.
See, if I want to play a giant angry wolf, I play my alliance character. I don’t demand worgens be on the horde side because they fit the brutish personality.
I play my alliance toon, because these differences between the factions and what are available help to make your choice matter. It gives them greater meaning and creates a more diverse environment.
If everything is shared, it stops being unique and diverse.
Considering the large majority of 32% likes blood elves, I think the minority who doesn’t like them doesn’t really matter after 12+ years of blood elves.
So, what did the high elf mages feed on if they needed to feed on something? Considering it was established that the only class of thalassian elves that were the least affected were rangers. last I recalled, Dalaran elves were mostly high elves prior to the sun reaver’s arrival.
Soooo, how are they doing any magic without magic? Seems like an inconsistency because the thing high elves objected to wasn’t feeding their addiction but HOW they fed it. They didn’t like feeding on other creatures, but magical objects were fine. That was the cause of the schism, not mana tapping as a whole.
Even though they look the same, have the same history, have the same lore.
Alliance have rights to them because they were allied with them first.
That runs along the lines of “you can’t be his friend you were my friend first! Even though you left me!”.
Also, Lanesh Steelweaver. Blood elf.
Pale. Blue eyed.
Mmkay.
That’s a blood elf btw
You just said high elves are an alliance theme, but the mass majority of high elves are now blood elves, who are horde based.
So pray tell what should the Horde receive in exchange for Alliance receiving a core horde race?
Can we get Worgens?
you can’t say there is an imaginary balancing act because hey, void elves and nightborne.
