That’s one of the reasons I think the rivalry between blood elves and high elves is a split that doesn’t villainize either faction: because this is a completely reasonable view to have of the high elves.
The high elves view themselves as people who stuck with the homes they’d moved to, and helped their adopted culture deal with current dangers rather than rush back to rebuild their ancestral home.
The blood elves view them as cowards and traitors, who chose to hide in safer places rather than returning to help their kin and country.
And, if you include the objection to mana tapping, then they can also view the high elves as the people who risked the deaths of themselves and others because of their personal preferences.
The high elves, meanwhile, can object that the blood elves had sacrificed their morals for their own comfort, if they think meditation was a workable alternative to mana tapping.
Both views are true, and the different views feed the schism between them.
Yeah…cause its not like there was stormwind or ironforge.

I mean…let’s not go to defend the magical artifact upon which an entire race survives on and is capable of bringing back a lich to death.
it’s not like that’s important or anything.
Not like if it gets corrupted it will kill you and therefore,m leave the friends you care about defenseless.
Totally won’t happen…
totally…
For what reason?
If the two races are exactly the same, why would they not simply be blood elves with blue eyes?
How would they have a different racial?
Or classes?
For all the work to make them suddenly different, which would give them lore worse than void elves IMO, that could be put towards an actual new allied race.
Oh so bathing your city in fel radiation is somehow better? Give me a break. Proximity to fel causes the same effects.
This is even discussed directly in the movie when the orcs comment that their new war camp in Azeroth has completely destroyed all life in and around the camp.
No Warlocks, no Hero Classes, possibly no Paladins
Quel’Danil could’ve started experimenting with Druidism between Cata and BfA. They live right next door to Seradane
Racials themed around High Elves’ more outdoorsy and cosmopolitan nature over Blood Elves “Arcane Arcane Arcane Arcane” racials.
Actually, a rebuilt Seradane could make for a nice little hub…
This is patently false. The only effects from the fel radiation was the eyes turning green. The color of their hair and skin is purely a design decision by the devs and not a lore for. P
Red is the result of extreme fel ingestion such as felblood orcs.
Or fel elves.
Why wouldn’t there be death knights for high elves when they were present for wotlk?
Why would they not have paladins when they are connected to the sunwell?
Why would they not have demon hunters despite their “I’ll go it alone” attitude as we have seen when they went into exile for their beliefs? Okay actually hold up, they wouldn’t mess with fel.
Racial wise. Again. They are the SAME race as blood elves and they are from the SAME generation.
Outdoorsy?
So Farstrider blood elves don’t exist?
High elves don’t have mages suddenly?
You keep making suggestions that just have way too many holes in them. I iamgine that is why Blizzard chose void elves. You can BS different racials with them, not so with high elves.
I’ll give you the druid thing, though again, they are from the same generation as the current blood elves. So…it wouldn’t make sense unless the timeline lapsed for a bit.
Some Orcs didn’t drink demon blood and yet became green, pretty much like what happened with Blood Elves. It’s easy to explain, there are three stages:
High Elf Paladins aren’t Blood Knights, they’re good old-fashioned Church paladins like humans and dwarves. We’ve seen few of them though.
They are much less of arcane junkies than Blood Elves.
Nice hyperbole there. But Farstriders aren’t the face of Blood Elves. As put by one of their own, most are content living their entire lives within Silvermoon.
Fair point, I forgot Thrall himself had never ingested demon blood.
On the other hand, the red skin only occurs with full corruption.
Lorthemar is a blood elf and he is the same generation of elf as Alleria and Vareesa.
All it means is there is different skin tones seen within the thalassian race.
I honestly cannot believe that we are now trying to argue different skin tones as justification for a different race.
