A lot of other games do this type of thing, I’m playing a few right now and I’m left wondering why WoW doesn’t…
To everyone that say “The forums would just cry about everything” and/or “Ion would lawyer talk everything anyways”…
First off, it’d be/should be a new form of communication with Lore representing devs, not Ion. If Ion/devs starts doing this stuff like this, why does Lore have a job?
Second, I admit it’d be rough at first. There might be some friction on both sides.
But the only way to reduce that friction, is to practice communicating with each other.
I’d be willing to work towards building a respectable forum (heh pun) where we all can discuss what we’re thinking.
Players, however, would have to realize they have to patiently wait for their turn regarding specific concerns and not act like entitled children… And Blizz can’t only field softball questions while leaving out the true heart of the matter issues.
Not your friend…and yes…you were requesting an answer…more like demand. But hey…your 15 dollars a month is important…I get that. BUT. your 15 dollars does not allow you to rake someone, or anyone, over the coals. Lets be realistic here…your 15 dollars is what? A couple gallons of gas? A candy bar and a soft drink…
Cant sit here and claim catastrophic events when you just a little fish in a big pond. If the little 15 dollars is to much…you should not be playing the game.
Yes. As I have mentioned in a reply above in this thread, Runescape is one of those examples actively communicating to their playerbase on issues raised by players on a consistent basis.
WoW has always been my preferred go-to game and it just pains me to see so many other games practicing this sort of communication like you said.
And yes, it takes 2 hands to clap. players need to still be able to work hand in hand with the developers to the benefit of the game.
Understandable, as this conversation is leading to an unnecessary discussion I would stop replying you from henceforth. Thank you for your opinion irregardless!
The Q&A where they discussed WM was the most honest and straightforward Q&A I have seen because we got real answers about why and how they were doing things. I was hoping it would carry forward as a trend, but the most recent one was pretty much like all of the previous ones.
I’ve had the same frustration, but I try really hard to pretend like every post I make is read regardless of if it is or not.
It is to acknowledge that it is a known issue amongst the playerbase. Of which there may be 2 follow-ups to this acknowledgement:
If the team agrees with the playerbase that this is major problem in the game and it may serve the interests of the game to change the situation by working together with the player base to find possible improvements.
If the team DOES NOT agree with the playerbase that this is a major problem in the game and it DOES NOT serve the interests of the game to change the situation, take time to explain their perspectives and why to the playerbase that it is not to the interest of the game.
It is the notion of hand in hand communication with the playerbase that is the subject of matter, there may not necessarily be a need for “change”.
The problem here is that GD doesn’t represent the playerbase. There is no consensus on issues when it comes to GD. There is no unified voice and no one here is a representation of the player base.
I’m sure they would like to talk to us more, but GD has proven time and again that it can’t respond reasonably when told no or given an answer that they don’t like. That’s generally when people clammer for Blizzard to ‘listen’ to feedback.
Nah he reads the forums. If Former CM Ythienns is to be believed, he reads the forums more than any other developer on the WoW teams.
He reads the forums so much, he often approaches the forum CM team with threads they haven’t even read yet.
Almost sounds like hes has an obsessive compulsion to read what we’re saying. Obviously he can’t respond a lot, literally anything he says would be taken and splattered across the wall.
Sure would be nice if he would acknowledge all the highly upvoted threads about flying, including this most recent one with 260+ likes and 800+ replies:
Sure we want the response, but i’m sure you know well exactly what will happen once he does. Some will be happy, most will be out for blood, take him out of context, spread the false narrative, incite articles and yata yata forum drama.
Ion: I’m not saying no to the possibility of removing pathfinder, but at the moment we have no plans.
Forum Goers: Ion just murdered my cat and is shutting down the servers!
See the problem is if he actually read through that thread, that’s not what people are asking for. They’re asking for the time gating on Pathfinder to be removed so that you can complete it at the start of the expansion and have flight once you do. Instead of having to wait an entire arbitrary year for no reason.
Pathfinder was supposedly put in as a “middle ground” so that people have to see the content before they are able to fly over it. Instead, we get “see the content before we fly over it, also wait an entire year or more, too, for some reason”. That’s not a “middle ground”, that’s just grounded.
