Why weren’t you taking soul rot? it is afflcition locks most powerful spell.
ITT: People who don’t even play challenging content complaining about things that don’t affect them.
If you’re not raiding or doing M+, you literally have the freedom to play however you want and take whatever talents you want.
As for the argument of Hero talents being a paid feature of the xpac…again, you literally don’t play content that requires the extra power afforded to you by them anyway. Even if they were designed around spells you “like”…you literally, mathematically would never use the power.
It’s no one else’s fault that you only play trivial content, and more complex gameplay design shouldn’t be centered around…what, world questing?
This is my ONLY complaint about the expansion. I HATE that they are forcing us to play a specific way… Oh more talents for customization??? Nahhh. You have to play cookie cutter specs still. I absolutely hate void torrent… The hero talent effect starts when its casted so there goes several seconds of its duration… am I just suppose to press void torrent and then cancel it so I can start spamming mind blasts??
It’s so stupid… Void torrent is just a stupid version of mind flay… More button BLOAT FOR EVERYONE!
There are other relevant parts of the game like PvP, and also just the general feel of our builds which is pretty critical for enjoyment even for casuals.
I get your take on it as well, but the point many are expressing here is it definitely pigeonholes a lot more than expected as far as level-up gains are concerned. If you ding from 73 to 74 and get excited about a talent only to have it be two options that have no bearing on your average one-on-one in the world then what’s to be excited about with leveling?
That puts us back to “why bother with having levels” since there’s no obvious power gain, particularly in an ever-scaling environ. Personally I wouldn’t mind if we halted on levels & went with horizontal progression & unlocks, but I know I’m in the minority there. As long as levels still matter in some context of ability/power gains then it’s sensible to make sure any of those new talents be planned out with minimal waste and ideally a consistently improved combat kit regardless of our personal tastes.
Not saying the concept is a failure by any means, but I think many here agree that we hope they reconsider how strict the synergies are as they iterate further & possibly loosen things a bit. Just more attention on making sure these traits are built with flexibility in mind. As several have suggested, simply having them effect either options on a related node versus a singular specific one would be a great improvement.
You are not required to play the game. Find something else that suits you better.
totems are fine, if you’re out here wanting classic sentry totem or whatever I dont know what to tell you
Try to spec in the Slayer tree as a Warrior without taking Bladestorm.
Whoever designed this wasn’t a gamer and didn’t really care for us having any real choice in our talents.
It’s feels like someone at the very end of development said hey let’s add some hero talents because there really isn’t anything new or exciting about this expansion except delves(ZZZzZz). Then they focused one 4-5 specs and made them fun and realized they didn’t have time to do every spec so just let some interns wing it.
Well I don’t think totems are fine…
They are in fact what make a shaman a shaman, but it is what it is.
This probably the most fair critique of the system, some lock you into a playstyle.
NBD if that’s the playstyle you like, very big deal if neither playstyle allowed by the hero talents is how you like to play your spec.
but they have totems, and they do a lot of different things, healing stream, healing tide, poison cleansing, windrush, tremor, stone bulwark, mana tide, you have a ton of talents to buff and move them
Maybe its a not resto thing?
sure, but no more so than the normal talent trees
Maybe it just a me thing then… but I do not like the way SP and Shammy’s play…they seem awkward.
Not true at all, there is a lot of choice and variation available in the main talent trees. the hero talents are essentially a binary choice.
If you don’t care about performance anyways then just don’t take the talents getting buffed by the hero talents?
That spell is awesome. And has a fantastic name. Much cooler than vile taint!
More than the “top 1%” raid and do M0/M+ and actual PVP
And here I am, loving Spin2wiN. Extra damage PLUS I break free of movement impairments? Yes please.
I get what you’re trying to do, but the capstone talent for Riders of the Apocalypse summons all four horsemen when you use Army of the Dead (I think? I don’t play Unholy) or Frostwyrm’s Fury. As Frost, I don’t really take that talent in raid scenarios, but in order to trigger the capstone ability for the hero tree and increase my DPS, I am required to take and use it.
That is the one I was thinking of, the capstone triggers off of Army of the dead or sinbreath, neither of which I like to play, My capstone would never trigger because I never use those spells.
