Hero talents require spells i do not care to use

so far my warlock and priest have hero talents tied to other talented spells that i do not use nor care to. the other options are more attractive to me than the spells i am REQUIRED to take now for hero talents. example: soul rot and halo i am not a raider or mythic person. this feels like: play OUR WAY. extremely disappointing.

I feel much the same about Archoen Holy priest and being forced to choose Halo when i perfer divine star. They should have just made Halo baseline if it was going to be a hero talent.

It’s unfortunate to just have dead hero talents because they rely on regular talents you technically aren’t required to take but at the end of the day it is very unlikely to make much of an impact on your performance if you don’t care to engage in M+ or high end raiding.

If you don’t do raid or m+, then do hero talents affect you? Probably not.

I am very disappointed in what they did to priests and shammys since DF. Was hoping WWI would be better but thus far, no.

hero talents don’t require you to take any other talents.

incorrect, sir!

can you provide an example? i haven’t seen any yet that swap your other talents when you select them.

yeah, some specs are pigeonholed real bad.

i like RAVAGER for my fury warrior but now i got to use spin-2-win (which I hate. its bloody lazy and its always lazy)

bears get pigeonholed into lunar yawn unless you want to take the non-defensive talents

edit: yes, I can take the thunderclap stuff for Fury but guess what now I’m pigeonholed to thunderstomp and taking something that just seems very prot

Yeah this is the one thing I don’t like about it at all.

i mean the other options besides the ‘required’ spell for hero talents. i can spend those points elsewhere.

can’t you still do that? i mean, you’d be playing suboptimally, but aren’t you already doing that? i don’t understand how hero talents change that at all.

off the top of my head, you are required to spec force of nature to even add points to the balance hero talent tree.

Don’t use them.

my thinking is: why should hero talents require anything specific. like halo or soul rot or void torrent (which has a lot tied to it). it should just boost how ever we want to play…with out a required spell that uses a regular point so if you do not choose to spend that point for it…we are not penalized.

no, you’re required to take Force of Nature or Fury of Elune or Full Moon. if you don’t spec any of those three, you cannot choose a hero talent. you are not required to spec force of nature.

Most of them have a choice between using a weird ability and taking something more passive. Priest is in a weird spot because Oracle is such a huge stupid PITA to use and track.

yes I’m fully convinced bear hero talents were just a way to force us all into using lunar beam, and we’ll like it.

I guess you can use whatever spells you want. I’m sure they figured most people use efficient rotations so designing hero talents outside that would be mostly a waste

I might use storm bolt at some point, but one “wasted” spot isn’t a huge deal to me. I used to put points into 1% crit upgrades lmao, this is fine.
