Here is the LFG Addon in action! Much worse than you thought

Wow…ok. So you have no idea what I’m talking about. Moving on…

Let me try and simplify this for you. I’m an addon maker and I want to assign values to every item in the game to calculate a gearscore addon…I create a table with all the items that are available in game, then I assign a value to each item. Then, when you inspect a character, the addon kicks in and adds up those values…you have…wait for it…a gearscore. Now if everyone used this addon, you would have a universal gearscore. And the only way this could ever be broken is if blizz disabled the inspection window.

Wasn’t the gearscore addon from wrath made up with values assigned by the makers of the addon? I see no reason it can’t be recreated with made up values for classic.

Yep

There will be many invasive addons in Classic whether people like them or not. But the LFG one is not one I’d be worried about. It’s a chat parser…that’s about it.

Only people didn’t make up numbers. The values were in game when gear score came out.

You still want to argue semantics or do you not realize how easy this addon is to make?

Now back to the original conversation…if a gearscore type addon does come into being…ClassicLFG won’t support it. Id say that’s pretty respectable.

My fellow WoW player, you do not further your ‘argument’ by putting words in my mouth. I’ve never said I was looking for an ‘Authentic Experience’ and I’ve never said I wanted ‘no changes’.

I don’t want this addon in Classic. Period. Full stop.

Your smartas responses are more representative of how retail WoW players act in the game. Try to be more polite, please. I’d certainly prefer a respectful and measured conversation, but it takes two.

You want this addon. Okay. I don’t. Blizzard will decide, and we each (among many others) have weighed in. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Either way, let’s have fun playing and enjoy the new opportunity to relive some great WoW experiences.

Without auto invite or any type of ilvl modifiers, it breaks no rules. I’m afraid people will be very disappointed come Monday.

Explain how this add-on would remove social interactions.

What’s the difference between someone whispering to respond to a LF etc notice in Trade and someone responding to a post in the add-on? If I see a request for a Healer in Trade in Classic I whisper back “invite”. I then get invited or not. If not I usually get a response “sorry, full”. It’s not like we have some kind of engaging discourse.

Social connections happen once you’re grouped. If a new person is good at their Class, knows their role and seems cool you add them to your Friends list. The add-on doesn’t prevent that kind of social interplay at all.

This is crushing… :pensive:

If two people have this add-on they don’t need to use chat to find each other.

Uhmmm that’s exactly how they’d find each other lol. This addon IS a chat parser.

If two people have these add-on they don’t need to use chat at all to find each other.

If two people have this add-on they can find each others group without using chat, it’s listed in the add-on, this is literally group finder without the teleporting to instance.

It still uses chat…

It has 2 functions, one is chat parsing ( primarly to form with people without the addon ), second function is no chat parsing ( addon users only ), on this no words are needed to be exchanged really, you see people apply and can accept them.

Second function requires both parties to have the addon.

You’re an exclusively LFR raider so of course you are defending this add-on.

Exclusively huh? Not sure what that even has to do with anything other than trying to create separation in the game. But kudos to you on that one.
