Yes, I agree. However as the mindless bickering in this thread has proven, gamers aren’t always the sharpest tools in the shed sir.

I don’t want it to be mandatory to do certain things in game efficiently or in enjoying the game, which it could lead to being. I realize some add-ons border on that already; just don’t wish for another one and it could really hurt other players looking for groups as well.

Which also is why this whole thread is just a catch 22 topic.

Not really. I just spammed until I had enough warm bodies unless I needed something in which I’d just ignore classes that could compete for that item. Being a Tank in Vanilla meant largely doing the dungeon on your own with a semi-awake healer.

If you wanted to much around with an ideal setup or just couldn’t bear to finish SM without a 5th, by all means hearth back, but it wasn’t some grand adventure to go to IF, spam, invite, wait 15min for people to fiy back, reclear trash, and finish.

Sitting half-afk with the addon running while you’re alt tabbed in the middle of plaguelands so you can click a single button to accept/deny a player without a word is a far cry from hitting an lfg macro every 30-60 seconds in town and actually conversing with those who whisper you to form your group.

So how is it different for me to mentally exclude Rogues and ignore any whispers from yellow names than it is to click off a toggle for Rogues when I start looking for recruits in the UI? You’re REALLY splitting hairs here if you think me seeing a Rogue available and ignoring them is different than consciously excluding any Rogues at all, available or otherwise.

Personally i think your dense and trying to split those hairs for something that is clearly quicker on a programming level. The clear example you SHOULD be using in this case is that your first advertisement would say no rogues and thus none would message you ever at that point. That is far more akin to what the addon would do for you.

What it does negate is the ability for people to get on a class you want and swap over to run an instance. If you say no rogues in chat that would mean you could have space for every other class other than rogues and whatever other class you are trying to block for your item. If an addon rejects people there would be no further communication so rogues who have alts or mains are going to join but i guess that wouldnt be a problem.

There is no slippery slope. Unless the Devs start saying “hey, everyone keeps asking for transmog and ya know what that sounds great so in Phase 4 you’ll get transmog!” we know exactly where this slope leads, it leads to TBC. If it goes further it leads to Wrath, where we got dungeon finder. If it still keeps going and we get Cata servers then look out world, we’re getting cross-realm shenanigans and transmog!

Do you think we’re going to get to do-over all of WoW’s development and not end up exactly where we did with TBC, Wrath, onward?

Okay? So I say no Rogues. You’re not helping your case by granting an absurdly easy I can do either in advertisement or mod.

Eh I don’t really care if they have an alt, I already found my 5th who is a Mage ready to go. If someone sees me advertise DM North and wants that on their Hunter, then they can message me. It isn’t like the add-on is going to block whispers LOL

Oh, there very much is the possibility that that could happen. It happened in Vanilla occasionally. But people are more likely to respond if you initiate conversation about whether they’ll invite you or not, the stipulations of bringing you, etc. Once you initiate conversation you put a social responsibility on who you’re talking to to respond. That’s not saying some players will still resist this responsibility, but some won’t. Some WILL engage with you, especially if in your initial whisper you come across in a favorable manor. Your addon just adds the convenience that someone could outright decline you similar to how people get declined in retail through the dungeon finder or custom group finder without a single word being said. Again, not saying there won’t be people who will just ignore you after shift clicking your name, but your addon makes it convenient in the same way that retail handles those situations.

Like I said, you need to provide a message before you apply to a group, that message will just be displayed in the addon instead of in the chat (if both are users of the addon). Its the exact same situation, with or without the addon.

We literally can. Unless the Devs start avoiding the NoChange mantra, we know we’ll get easier reputation grinds in TBC and absurd attunements, stupidly easier 5mans and Heroics in Wrath and 10man raid tiers, the entire ridiculousness that was Cata, and so on.
