So many people in this thread going on about community and friend lists…ffs join a chatroom. Spamming chat channels endlessly for groups with randoms was the worst part of playing Vanilla (for me personally). Nothing stops you from using friend lists or chatting in-party…but what you’re going to find is grown, old adults have less time to be nerd pals or game-chat.

Why do you want to make the game more like Retail?

You as a player still have to do the work on it is the point im making it isnt the addon that making the deterministic assumption. You still have to see the color if you use a chat addon or search for that person if you dont. YOu can argue that you are just as efficient about it but, in reality you arent your slower than a program so its still more efficient for the addon to do that automatically.

So how is it different for me to mentally exclude Rogues and ignore any whispers from yellow names than it is to click off a toggle for Rogues when I start looking for recruits in the UI? You’re REALLY splitting hairs here if you think me seeing a Rogue available and ignoring them is different than consciously excluding any Rogues at all, available or otherwise.

I think it should be able to do that, just not have an option to exclude doing it. That way you could ignore a good portion (I’m just making that up, I really don’t know) of players from your group finding.

You can just shift click and see the class even without the addon. It is the exact same information. What is the difference you see here?

Oh, there very much is the possibility that that could happen. It happened in Vanilla occasionally. But people are more likely to respond if you initiate conversation about whether they’ll invite you or not, the stipulations of bringing you, etc. Once you initiate conversation you put a social responsibility on who you’re talking to to respond. That’s not saying some players will still resist this responsibility, but some won’t. Some WILL engage with you, especially if in your initial whisper you come across in a favorable manor. Your addon just adds the convenience that someone could outright decline you similar to how people get declined in retail through the dungeon finder or custom group finder without a single word being said. Again, not saying there won’t be people who will just ignore you after shift clicking your name, but your addon makes it convenient in the same way that retail handles those situations.

Pretty sure they are remotely similar since the only difference is 1x button push every 60s.

I’m looking for Classic for what it was… filled with all sorts of janky UI things I fixed with add-ons. I get a lot of folks played without add-ons or macros in Vanilla, that’s fine, but raiders generally didn’t and there was enough downtime in Vanilla to motivate me to make my UI much prettier than the default.

Plus I’ve never not had gear swap/set saving add-ons, bag cleanup add-ons, chat improvements, or mail improvements at a MINIMUM.

You understand that you’re still doing the dungeon with them, right? Dude, seriously, the only thing this is changing from classic is that when you’re making a group, you’re not leashed to ironforge, and can instead go out and farm ore if you want to.

And that right there is the problem.

In Vanilla it took a coordinated effort, to find a group. You had to advertise to people in chat.

You might even send someone to a major city, so that they could also hit the trade or city chat, to broaden the area for searching.

Today people don’t want to talk to anyone. They want to remain anonymous. Maybe they don’t want people to see who or how they really are. Maybe they are afraid of what people will think of who they really are.

It’s a SOCIAL game. People are suppose to talk to others. That is how society works.

This addon has the ability to make the game just like retail, where no one is talking to anyone anymore.

The automatic features of this game need to go.

Every 5 minutes. The addon doesnt delist you unless you go afk. You only need to hit spacebar every 5 minutes.

You can put timers in macros. This is how people without DBM or BigWigs could still do countdowns for pulls.

The content and the way the game works with… lets call it the ruleset for a lack of a better term. I am not migrating to classic because I unquestioningly love every aspect of it.

But to reduce group forming to just those functions diminishes a major aspect of what the game was, and the role it played in the community.

But you have the option to still do it manually. All the addon does is parse the channel for you. Nothing is preventing you from doing the work you want to do.
