Sounds like he’s anti-automation. If an addon falls into that category he probably is against it. But I don’t want to put words in his mouth in case I’m wrong. That’s just my read on it.

as i said, the addon as a chat parser isnt the problem… its the possibility of what it can do that needs to be borken…

Anti-automation. When you don’t have to do anything to get a response that normally requires manually input.
My opinion is not going to suddenly change about the subject. If you think automation if fine, that is perfect. Be in the minority, go play OSRS, I’m not gonna judge.
In classic WOW it dosen’t really belong. Type or use a macro. Auto joining a group, any type of group, is not in the spirit of classic.
Lets do this without the addon: I write: “LFM DM North, 2dps 1 healer” . You text me with “here, hunter” (doesn’t need to be this exact message). I right click your name and invite. I never talked to you and you are in the group (if you accept the invite of course).

Yes there are scripts that will fill out your talents , pretty sure they existed in Vanilla, though I could be wrong.
That is what guild, trade, and group finder chat is for, this addon promotes solo play in a game that the WHOLE reason why everyone is excited for is the actual MMO side of the rpg. Every aspect of this addon should be broken. It kills the spirit of classic.
except raids where autoinvites were widely used of course.

I’m not asking about without the addon. I’m trying to get specifics of what your addon can do. And as it stands as I understand it, it can auto invite in custom groups, potentially display people’s builds, and have an invite feature that requires no talking. That is about as anti classic as you get if that is all true.
I never raided. Was young and not good enough. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.
I still do not like the idea of auto joining custom groups though.

What he failed to say is auto invite guild members, not randoms. There is a massive difference.

Not even close. LFD is a match making, teleportation, tool.
If you choose to do that yes, but people can still invite people manually without ever talking to them or just use a different addon (like raid assist addons) to achieve exactly the same.
No, it won’t in the next update.

We had tons of automation add-ons in Vanilla, even after they broke Decursive and Fury and a few others. Add-ons that auto-sorted your mail, cleaned up your bags, swapped gear on the fly, etc were all and still are automated add-ons that got their start in Vanilla.
