This is why the OP did this… to keep up a Retail video to scare the crap out of other people… just stop. Streamers doing streamer things to get “muh engagement” is nothing new, move along.
Blue post isn’t needed. Blizzard is on record with their position already.
They will MONITOR addons that introduce social media functionality and RESTRICT them if they feel they are not within the spirit of vanilla.
Notice I did not say break.
Ahh, I literally just realized what you meant mid-way through typing another response (which is erased now.) Blizzard breaks addons by rewriting the API, so it’d break both addons regardless…is what I’m getting.
So if your addon does invite for custom groups (which I think is fine,) would Blizzard need to break it to stop another LFG addon? I feel like you addressed it, but cannot find where.
My current purpose here is just the general discussion on addons in general; I’ve already read as much.
So I don’t use the add-on. And suddenly I’m getting less groups, no ones responding to groups or listing their’s cause everyone is using this add-on. It’s so continent, it’s so, exactly, like LFD.
yeah, i dont respond any more to people who are defending this addon, they’re BFA crybabies trolling.
how do you think the addon populates its list?
Yes it would have to as well as the guild invite addons.
There are not less groups tho, groups are advertised in chat so people without the addon can see it.
Key bad issue with LFGaddon for PuG Dungeons is it replaces social interaction with cheap automation.
This is lazy! And lazy/free rewards kills peoples respect for the game and makes it too easy to get away with super bad manners in-game.
Auto filled groups strip away from the social aspect of an MMO. It really is counter-productive to the entire point of having a community. That right there effects everyone, even those with out the addon.
But also if it results in a lazy/free/easy way of farming dungeons to gear up, then hate it or not, you’ll have to get it to stay up to speed with the curve in the game and so again, this addon effects everyone, not just “those who want to use it”.
Why care about manners, a players ingame name, their experience as a player etc etc when you can just tune out, surfing reddit while you wait for group to auto fill, kicking anyone with sub-par Ilvl.
The addon does not auto fill your group for a dungeon tho.
Only being around for custom groups means people can use it to form groups for dungeons using the custom window correct? In a sense they could ignore the dungeon portion of your addon and only use the custom portion for forming dungeon groups to do exactly what many players in this thread have said could be done: auto invites for dungeons.
I tend to think any automation, even spamming chat without your own fingers/macro or auto joining any type of ‘custom group’, is a bit much and tends to be too much like the modern LFG.
Auto joining a custom group, getting a dungeon group from that would be very simple. It’s only skipping the process of defining roles really.
Automation for anything is a very odd for any add-ons in my opinion.
Its not going to be a viable dungeon group tho. Do you want to go to the dungeon with 5 healers or 5 dps ? You will still need a tank and a healer for the dungeon. If people want to have an auto invite to their groups they can use normal raid assist addons that already do that in the normal chat: “LFM DM whisper me with invite”.
The addon in the linked vid does. We talking about same addon?
See my earlier post:
It can still auto invite which is an issue. But lets bypass that for the moment. Using custom, could you not list a group “LFM DM North, 2dps 1 healer” and anyone with this addon could see that in custom (similar to how the blizzard UI works with custom groups) and could manually invite players to the group without ever have talked with them? I would need to see the custom functionality in action but if this is the case it is anathema to the Classic/Vanilla experience.
I got this
“Oh good, now we have someone who doesn’t hide behind a lvl 116 character’s point of view with 1584 forum posts, also known as a forum hero/vocal minority”
What is stopping players from auto joining a “custom group” and then picking people, based on roles, from that list for a dungeon run?
Edit: Sunlight is asking the same thing. Just noticed. Sorry for thread flooding.
And at that point we’re knocking on the door with things like gearscore, raiderIO, etc. Not exactly I know but this would be a precursor to those things.
and the addon can, has the possiblity, as far as i know, check peoples talents builds, once a tank build been selected, it will no longer add said choise, and goes to check for a healer build and or dps build…
