Ive always been an on and off player, recently I just started playing more regularly, I even purchased a new keyboard and 12 button mouse. I also had purchased 4 WoW tokens to max level my heirlooms and purchased the epic upgrade for myself and my partner who I roped into playing with me. All in all its been wonderful playing WoW with them. It feels different.
Unfortunately, yesterday I woke up to an email saying I have been banned for hacking/cheating which is not possible since Ive never downloaded anything new other than WoW on my Laptop. no programs to hack or anything as some mentioned on reddit. I play WoW hoping I’m just plying it correctly, I only just started learning about macros and addons after 10yrs.
I did however get a new 12button mouse that I believe may have been the issue and made a false flag. talking with some redditors we came to the conclusion it might be due to the fact that I binded my mouse keys with ctrl+1, ctrl+2, ctrl+3 etc. etc. unfortunately customer support wont let me reach out about the situation since it has started getting ignored. I dont know what to do, and its terrible since it’s a situation that I cant be believed since I got banned. I just never thought these situations could happen and it’s happening to me where I just dont even have the thought to hack or cheat.
Unfortunately, Amunn, we can only go off of what we can verify. Looking at the secondary investigation they did before they reduced the penalty, they verified their original findings.
The reason these things are normally reduced is primarily when we’re able to verify that the account wasn’t purely exploitative. We also take the history of the account into consideration.
I don’t think there is anything more that can be done here as it has been fully reviewed.

There are no GM’s on the forums. You would have to put in a ticket to appeal the ban.
Keep in mind that it’s not to plead your case just to request a review to see if an error was made.

But so then do I lose everything? I cant stress enough how much I would not have purchased what I did and jeopardize my account by cheating. I don’t understand this. I had just gotten epic upgrade, do I just lose that money? This seems so wrong.
If it is a 6 month suspension, then you’d be able to access the account in 6 months when that expires. The content of that account should remain the same.
I can only recommend that you check your system for other programs that might be running. If someone else uses your system, talk to them.
Our Hacks team, which runs these investigations, do keep track of the accounts that are penalized and which ones appeal. They take additional looks at the data they have and if a false positive is found to have happened would overturn any account impacted. If that happens in your case, you should receive an email letting you know.

If you open a new lisense on the same Bnet account you will be able to use the mounts, pets and transmog from your account that is suspended.
Now if you got something via illicit means that could be removed but you will not find out until you can log in again at the end of your suspension.

I’m being forced to buy another whole game is the situation, when I had just purchased the epic upgrade and several WoW tokens. How do I get reimbursed, how do I know what program might be running when I have played with this laptop with no issues and never added anything new other than a mouse program to bind buttons. I have no trust in knowing I wont get banned again. Im obviously going to have to purchase another game since I like WoW and i feel like a target so I spend that money. It just feels wrong.
You do not get reimbursed! Any subscriptions you had would have been canceled when you got suspended. If you got gold from the wow tokens that gold should still be on your account.

It honestly seems like sometimes the players know more or are more willing to provide answers that answer future questions.
I did not know I keep my mounts by just opening a new game license on same account, but that’s also bad practice having to pay all over again, it seems scammy being that I never thought Id be in a situation where I was falsely banned. Im very upset just for the reason that I have my truth of knowing I didnt do anything wrong or malicious.
No one is forcing you to buy a new account whatsoever - Vrak said to clean your PC and try to find anything that may had caused it. Or talk to whoever use your PC. There are countless people who have the same setup as you and relationship playing. This isn’t a targeted thing, nor it’s making folks pay for the same thing again.

Considering you appealed and your perm ban got turned into a 6 month suspension I am guessing they have a good reason. Even if you do not know exactly what. Does anyone else use your computer and or pay wow where you live?

We’re all humans, of course I’m gonna buy again the game I like if the company I bought it from locked me out. You’d buy it too. we like what we like and we do what we like. I didnt cheat or hack, but that’s not gonna be believed and I get that.
Just to reiterate, make sure your computer is clean of any potentially concerning programs. Warden will just find it again.
Just having bound something as simple as “Ctrl+1” shouldn’t do anything – I have loads of similar binds on my equipment. However if the binds run in sequences (e.g. “ctr+1 then ctrl+2”) that would be problematic.

Yes, my partner does. I actually got them set up with GeForceNow so they could play. We did test it on my laptop first before we got them set up playing from their xbox with geforcenow through web browser. They are the same tho also a returning player.
They play wow from their Xbox? Though a web browser? That could be the issue right there. I do not think you can play remotely that way but I could be wrong.
Just looked pretty sure Cloud gaming is not allowed with World of warcraft. That could very well be the problem.

How would I be able to go about this since I have never downloaded anything for my laptop not even netflix or apps to use, It’s just for WoW. I got curseforge. I wouldn’t know where to start. Would a reset of my computer be the best solution in this situation?
I’m not aware of the specifics as I don’t use the service, but WoW through GeForceNow seems to be a partnership.

thanks for the info. Just googled quick and it said cloud gaming was not allowed. So seems if you are using geforcenow it should be ok

Keeping in mind I’m just some random internet person –
It wouldn’t hurt. At least when you’re drawing from a blank slate, you know what’s on there.
Vendors are known to slip in “value-added” junk from time to time. Like the time Lenovo inserted a backdoor letting them overwrite and transmit ads directly to customers’ laptops.

They’ve been loving it, and definitely not the issue why cause I’m guessing they would have received the ban and not me. It’s really convenient and plays better than my old pc haha
