[Help] Account Suspension

{Removing crosslinks}

Can this be verified? There is a lot of finger pointing and accusations whether this type of behavior in game is true. Does this poster have validity in their claims or another attempt of falsehood.

I have directed OP to these forums because they won’t post here. Any help would be great. If OP was indeed typing back toxic responses or a victim.

Just reading the summary in your link, it sounds like maybe things got heated and toxic, and OP probably had a history of this behavior before. Hence instead of a 1 week silence, or just 1 week suspension, they are at 2 weeks.

Mass reports are rare, usually done by the followers of streamers, but do not necessarily lead to penalties.

Blues will provide additional info, if the person involved asks here and claims that they did nothing wrong. They try to dispel the common claims that everyone gets banned for mass reports or the like. But they aren’t going to do that about someone else’s account because you posted here. Perhaps if their thread gets moved here they would.

As Kozzae mentioned - they got a two week ban. Most likely, this is their third infraction. So that pretty immediately casts doubt on their story.

I can promise that person said a lot more than what was in that self-posted snippet. If they got a 2 week suspension they are on their 3rd account action for chat/social infractions.

Blizzard can’t discuss other accounts with us though. The most they can do is assure you that while “mass reporting” may get something temp Squelched, and even push it up the priority chain for review - it won’t get them penalized if they did nothing wrong.

Very rarely we see folks hit for spam which is kind of a judgement call and some get that reduced, but it is rare to see “I only said “blah”” turn out to be true. It is not mass reports. It is the content of their own chat logs that sinks them.

Edit to add a great example thread. “I only did X and got mass reported and auto banned” - so they claim.

Then a Blue checks it out

Thank you for all the responses. I am just tired of accusations like this one being thrown around being unverified. It sets a form of anxiety from queueing content in fears of having access to your account being revoked from illicit actions from the community.

Entirely understandable. It is the misinformation that folks spread that has always been one of our biggest challenges. Sometimes it might be just from a misunderstanding of what their chat was… it is amazing how often people forget that they may have been dropping F-bombs all over the place, or calling others disparaging names. A lot of the time it seems people are being intentionally misleading.

The dreaded “mass reports” is what is going around most often now. The reporting alone isn’t generally what causes any action, the chat that is reported is verified for inappropriate and toxic chat before that happens. Yes, mistakes can be made. We try to avoid it as best as we can, but that is why we have an appeals process. To get another set of eyes on something to help make sure.

I’m going to lock this one up. Thanks, all.
