Healers strike

It would look like a lot of DPS rerolling a healer to get a group. It would also never happen because things aren’t nearly as toxic for heals (or tanks) as people dramatize them to be.

Regarding healing in M+…It wouldn’t happen because there are plenty of healers that generally have a positive experience, but if it did happen then you would see dps and tanks try out healing. Healers like to say healing is so much harder than dps but it’s really not, it’s just different, and to fully utilize the defensive toolkit as a dps it requires the same knowledge of damage patterns that is required of a healer.

The general complaint of dps toxicity and healers always being blamed is something I hear people say a lot, but it doesn’t at all align with my experience. I pug all my keys and I rarely see this healer directed toxicity I keep hearing about whether I’m the healer or the dps. Yes, m+ is a hostile environment and people are often toxic toward each other, but I see it directed all around. If anything I see the tank being blamed most often, but it’s usually directed at low dps or someone making a specific mistake.

I’m not denying people’s experience, but I’m inclined to think if you’re seeing an extraordinary amount of toxicity toward the healer that a weak performance is a contributing factor, and this can be from a dps player as well. If you’re a dps that has mediocre dps, doesn’t interrupt well, doesn’t use defensives well, then every key you enter you are putting extra burden on the healer and that will increase the likelihood they get blamed. People should be civil regardless, but you can’t control other people, and improving your own performance as a healer or dps I believe will reduce the amount of toxicity.

You mean current content?

Sometimes dps gets blamed for standing in stuff when it just forms under us while we’re trying to do something like our rotation or even a mechanic. It’s not like we are just standing in bad because we enjoy it. We have to react and sometimes that’s not going to be fast enough. Now I understand not being healed when I keep burning rush on, but when it’s due to game mechanics that’s another issue. We expect to be healed because it’s the one job the healer has. Yes we should absolutely help and try to mitigate the need for healing, but we have a dedicated healer roll in content for a reason.

I see more toxicity from the DPS to the tank than to the healer.

There isn’t really any toxicity towards a healer unless they are underperforming so much that it’s glaringly noticeable

I played DAoC from launch through Atlantis and have no memory of that.

What happened? It must have been specific to a single server? Or I was drunk because it was the college days. Either is likely.

Probably the same people that tried doing it in FF14 and it went over about as well as a wet fart lol. Vast majority of people just play a game to play a game, they don’t care about any of this weird nonsense.

It’s not about not wanting to heal you, a lot of the mechanics in the game (at higher key and raid levels, granted) are realistically unhealable. Like, ya, if you just have a dot on you and die over the course of 10 seconds, that’s a healer issue, but if you’re just dead in 1-2 gcd’s, that’s now a you problem

I feel the same as above, but there must be some pretty bad healers out there; I still occasionally get whispers like “great healing” and such. I never really feel like I’ve done anything to stand out, just keeping people alive. I guess it’s pretty hard for some people.

I’m doing other things while waiting for season 2.

Has nothing to do with the dps I group with.

As a healer, it’s only been a few times that I’ve gotten toxic whispers. And that’s great that it’s so rare.

But oh my god, the content of those whispers is enough to make me want to never play again. When they flame you, they are so cruel.

I agree with that. That’s plenty of time to move or pop a defensive.

the people trying to do these “strikes” are always bad so it’s inconsequential.

There was a fight vs. Mythic about the Lurikeen race. A lot of players wanted to be like smurfs and have like Brainykeen, Sneezykeen, pretty much anything with -keen at the end of it.
At first Mythic was temp banning and requiring name changes of people left and right, but someone organized a sit-in protest and the Lurikeens got their way; I think there was a few hundred logged in for it
I don’t remember what server, it might of been one of the rp ones.

Damn I miss that game sometimes

A healer strike is utterly ridiculous.

Tanks and healers simply need to play better. You people cause 90% of key failures due to your inane incompetence.

This topic is insulting.

I’ll get rage whispers in PvP I will admit that. But I find those more amusing and consider them my fans

That would explain it. I didn’t try Hib until much, much later in the game. My friends and I were Mid, for at least the first few years, before trying Alb. I didn’t get to dabble in Hib until they eased the restrictions on realm hopping.

And yes. I miss it as well. Some of the Freeshards have been excellent over the past few years, although I’m not sure what the current state of them are.

Telling someone they need to practice their rotation and learn mechanics is helpful and constructive. Calling them “terrible” or that they should “unalive themselves” is most definitely toxic and needlessly hostile.
