Would love for just ONE realm to be pvp, but sadly I think it will be like just 100 of us. People do not seem to care for PVP like they used to.

I suspect that the HC community itself is primarily PvE players currently. If an actual poll was taken of all players who might sub to try a HC PvP server I’d guess at about a quarter or more of the player base on pvp servers would think it sounds cool. There are always going to be people that don’t like HC or PvP HC, but this is why an announcement would bring in a huge player base that the current HC challenge is overlooking completely. PvP players are much more aggressive souls by nature and giving them a challenge with perma death gives huge clout potential that would scream to a lot of their inner fire.
100 of us ? You’d be surprised how many people would be interested in a PVP HC server. Everyone around me would like to have this type of server.

RP is much more than a label that you slap on the server. It’s almost just as drastic as a PvP server if done right. Such as RP rules being enforced by GMs. Anyway this is off topic for this thread.
We need a HC PvP Realm. There’s clearly a player base to support atleast 1 Realm. I’m sure there are enough to fill up several Normal HC Realms. A HC Ruleset PvP Realm could alleviate some pressure on the main Normal Realms.
I never liked PvP I played max 15 levels on a PvP server. I’ll never play on a HC PvP server.
But I think that it should be possible to do so for those liking this “niche” way of playing.

I want an HC PvP realm even though I lean strongly toward the PvE content. I was looking forward to the realm community figuring out that they could basically create a guild on each faction to serve as law enforcement, communicate with a joint Discord, and unleash the Light’s white hot justice on bots.

The SSF is likely to come in the form of an opt-in buff modified from the Season of Mastery “Soul of Iron” modified to track if the player traded.
How are your hopes regarding the possibility of Blizzard giving us a PvP server? I think it would be very disappointing if they don’t release one.
I have some hope because in the PTR the server type is called “Hardcore Normal”, so there is a possibility of a “Hardcore PvP”.
In case we don’t have a PvP server on August 24, would you be interested in creating a community of Hardcore PvP players and play on the same server? I read this idea from one of you and it seems to me the best consolation.

I disagree with you, I think a HC PvP server will be much more long-lived than any HC PvE server
I’m a long time player but the idea of having to level a character over and over because I got ganked might become irksome.
If there is a HC PvP server the penalties of getting killed by player should be lighter than instant deletion. Maybe roguelite, losing all your items might be the way to go.

Then play HC Classic and don’t play HC Classic PvP. I think this is the entire point of the server.
Conversely, the game could maybe be viewed as much more casual because you know this character wont be here very long.

I think most people aren’t that great at surviving without the PvP element. Once you add it in, I would have to assume most PvP would take place between levels 15-20

It doesn’t sound like this game mode is for you. I wouldn’t recommend HC mode to anyone who expects their character to last forever.
If it does, that would be an extremely hard feat. That’s the entire point of the game.
If you are going to rage every time you die, you might have fun playing other game modes.
But leveling a character over and over because you accepted a HC challenge is okay? Maybe you just don’t like PvP enough and should find your way to another conversation that you care about. Just a thought…

You literally kept this thread alive while I took a break by posting the same argument that has already been superseded by open minds way in the start of this thread you never care to acknowledge. The SAME addiction people have to reroll or “Go Agane” for regular PvE HC would be just as present in a PvP HC Server or more, because rivalry is healthy for fun competition.
A HCPvP Server is literally the same type of thing you need to accept when playing regular HC (PvE), except with added danger. This might not be for you and that’s okay. But you’re quite obviously outnumbered in this topic and many more people obviously favor this idea. Sorry… but someone getting ganked by a high level is easily taken care of by the proposition I made in the OP of this thread. Stating that People will only be able to engage with in in PvP if they would count as an honorable kill. Meaning they are within you’re ability to win if you use skill. Problem has been solved, you’re just here to troll… but again thank you for keeping this thread alive, even if hardly anyone agrees with you.
The thing is that MANY more people by the last time I checked play PvP servers than strictly PvE ones, now RP servers are the one exception to this rule. Most people enjoy some level of PvP.
I think also another idea that was brought to my attention would be that instead of only the Inns being able to grant rest that the whole towns do as well, and that Rest XP rises much faster while online and offline where people have reason to get into groups together to leave from the town for quests as they’d be more encouraged to group and be in towns crafting and sharpening their weapons etc., so there will instead be raiding parties leaving from places like Grom’Gol and Booty Bay working as squads etc. People will be much more methodical in how they approach the world as a whole. This will make arriving to these new places that are very hard to get to without going through dangerous territory just to get a flight path so huge (an achievement in itself) just to arrive. Places like Stonard would be such an achievement and those that are there are fighting their own front relative to those in Menethil Harbor, and not all towns/camps are created equal. Some have forges, and trainers, while others may not. This whole game was created with PvP in mind, even down to the forethought of the original devs as to where they thought the Factions would be fighting in each zone, and who had better footholds and forts to fight from in those zones.
The entire WoW Era game has everything people need to work together to fight the opposite faction, and Local Defense channel would be full of Alerts, and Comms would be pretty serious and constant. I’d be willing to bet people will still die a lot from PvE alone too, but PvP servers like this will have natural ebb and flow of what faction is winning and in what zones, meaning some people might be able to avoid most combat if they choose to and attempt to bring stealth potions, consumes (speed pot, FAP, bombs etc.) in order to make sure they have the ability to escape. Maybe you choose to farm in a more inconspicuous and less traveled (a place within zones with few or no quests but with mobs to grind) to attempt to avoid having to fight.
The fact is that this idea is actually SO good, this PvP server might actually outlive the PvE HC server instead of the other way around as the dynamics will change much more often and the AH/Trade prices will be less inflationary due to lack of bots being able to farm efficiently without being attacked, making Gold and Items extremely hard to come by, and simple things like contesting zones for mid tier gathering for even the simple things becomes a part of the fight ongoing between the factions. IE where one faction has more general influence across the world will dynamically change as the War rages on. Imagine someone getting their hands on a BOE Legendary Item, think how hard of a decision it would be to either equip it or sell it because you know this may very well be what keeps you alive in your next fight.
Also the server should bring back choosing ONE faction per account on the HC PvP Server, so it’s not as easy for spies to choose both sides. Bring back World of WARcraft devs, you know this idea is awesome insane and rad af.
