Oh so you’re on board with thinking the cast time to switch between flying mode is ridiculous and not needed. Good.
Im not the one arguing bro. Im using past Blizz design choices to infer the reason behind the cast time. You just don’t like that answer.
You’re so angry at Blizz you’re lashing out. I have zero skin in this game. I’ll never swap from dragon riding so the cast has zero impact on me.
You’ve never actually given a reason.
Yet here you are making multiple responses to two of us.
Dude I made one small comment that it feels like the cast time means Blizz doesn’t want us swapping all the time and you both took it personally.
The outrage is funny.
How many times do I have to say it feels like Blizz doesn’t want us swapping all the time.
They seem to want some friction between the two modes going forward. If Blizz wanted us to have the speed and true flight feel we f dragonriding at the same time as the inertia less feel of tbc flyers nf they would have.
Except you aren’t. You made an assumption, ignored logic, ignored everything else I said just to further a bad narrative.
No one is angry. This is called projecting. You’re the only one here throwing insults at people.
Glass houses, sir and/or madam.
Yet you’re in here arguing with us…
Thank you for finally owning up to the fact that you gave your own assumption and not Blizzard’s reasoning. About time.
From you? Yes, it is.
Have a good day, I’m done with this conversation.
There are numerous examples of Blizz making things painful and tedious because they like us to have to make choices.
Having to use a tome to respec.
A cast time to swap talents.
Warmode can only be turned on in a city
Swapping Covenents triggered a cooldown.
Etc, etc, etc.
This is more of the same but you don’t like that anawer.
You mean how I worded my very first post?
I guess Blizz doesn’t want us to have access to both styles with zero friction
That. Is. Not. A. Reason.
That’s the entire point of this topic. It’s needless, useless, and tedious for absolutely, wait for it, NO REAL REASON. You apparently can’t comprehend that for some unknown reason.
Perhaps it makes the game look lame on streaming, which they believe is important to bringing in new players.
New players think WoW is lame for gating basic mode transportation like TBC normal flying.
I mean every single MMORPG and MMO that came around the time of WoW or soon after loosened restrictions. WoW went backwards in that regard and it hurt the game for a long time because new players couldn’t understand how other MMOs and MMORPGs have mount travel ground and air an lots of teleports while WoW is in the stone ages and gates its own crown jewel aka TBC normal flying behind massive walls.
I like how fast dragonriding is, but if I am being completely honest, I prefer traditional flying.
I wonder what the anti-flying crowd thought of dragonriding. One of their arguments is that we were missing out on the majesty of Azeroth by flying over it. Now in a blink of an eye I can cross an entire zone.
After all these years I finally, finally got Loremaster.
Being able to switch between Dragonriding and Traditional Flying on the fly (based on what mount I was picking) was something that made it very relaxing (and I find Dragonriding a lot more fun in every continent other than the Dragon Isles, weirdly enough).
I would use Dragonriding to travel to a new location and Traditional Flying for precision once I got there.
I absolutely love that Dragonriding is being opened up to more than just the dragon mounts, but I don’t want to ever be in one “mode” or another.
I want something like a slot on the UI for both a Skyriding mount and a Steady Flight mount and allow me to pick whatever I want for each slot.
I will answer the question.
The 5 second cast is to discourage people that like to use both TBC normal flying and Dr.
Punishing players that like to use is bad enough, but TBC normal flying is also gated behind another patchfinder.
So BlizZard is out to really annoy a large chunk of the player base.
This is me exactly.
Actually, there’s a third group. This group has been silent because there was no issue to speak about. We love both flying modes and see awesome uses for each. I switch constantly. I keep one of each type of mount on my bar and click the appropriate one to match what I’m planning to do.
The two groups that mostly always fly in a single preferred style are not affected by this at all. They have the mounting cast time and they’re on their way. Those of us who want to use both styles will have the additional five second delay each time we switch.
But there’s an additional problem. I don’t know about you but mounting is a pretty automatic thing for most of us – just click and go. Those of us who use both styles of flight are likely to mount up not realizing we’re not in our preferred flight mode. We then must choose whether to stay with what we ended up with even though it wasn’t what we wanted or go through the delay of dismounting, switching, and remounting.
The five second cast is a concern, just not the only one. Those of us who want to fly using both flight styles want just as fluid a game play style as everyone else. The new system does not give us this. A simple and effective replacement would be to allow players to classify each mount to function in the flight style they wish for that mount. A toggle in each mount’s collection screen would accomplish this. The “Switch Flight Style” spell could also be used as a toggle but in order to be used for a specific mount, it would need to be cast-able while mounted (and standing still, of course).
I’m sorry but this just sounds like pure laziness, not an actual issue.
I would be fine with this, but it does sound like a technical nightmare… So, very unlikely.
Sorry you’re having an issue, but since dragonriding came out, I’ve never used static flying since.
I covered this. To quote myself…
Those of us who want to fly using both flight styles want just as fluid a game play style as everyone else.
I want the game to play the same for the both of us. In fact, you’ve given me an excellent idea. Let’s just make it so everyone has to cast twice in order to mount up. That way it’s completely equal for all. According to you, anyone who objected to this idea would obviously be lazy.
