I don’t hate vulpera or anything fyi. I agree they are objectively a great race. I am just bias when it comes to gilgoblins. Everyone has something they are bias about.
hey
Hey
HEY
real monster checking in
those folks you just mentioned are all the cute ones!
human paladins,
trolls are always awesome tho
(Statement): Unit Exacitor feels no such way. The player > the race.
(Observation): Perhaps this is more of a you problem?
(Statement): Looking through almost any of the serious threads regarding High Elves as an Allied Race, the most common requests to set them apart from Blood Elves included:
- Dark Skin Tones
- An array of non-glowing eye colors
- Different silhouettes
(Commentary): Seems to me that its you who has fixated on, “blond hair and blue eyes,” as some kind of requirement. Even now the requests for Void Elves is more about, ‘natural hair colors,’ not just blond. People want black, white, brown, etc… not just blond. I’ve seen people ask for more shades of purple for eyes as well, a color we’re seeing High Elves with more come Shadowlands.
(Conciliation): I can understand where your first impression comes from thanks to a certain infamous quote by a certain developer, but personally, I would suggest actually looking into what a community wants before casting judgment. That said you’re of course welcome to your opinion either way, just keep in mind that being uninformed can make one look ignorant, which has never been a good look.
(Commentary): I’ll never hold it against other communities that we got Mechagnome over another race. As much as I enjoy Exacitor here, and all the wonderful opportunities Mechagnomes bring to the table, like many Allied Races, we could’ve just as easily been additional customization for regular gnomes. After Kul Tirans, I think a lot of Alliance players were really hoping for something amazing and unique, and Mechagnomes just weren’t it for most. I will say, from personal experience, the High Elf community has been pretty accepting of us, which is nice. Just goes to show most of them care more about that old nostalgic Alliance feeling; we might be amputee gnomes, but we’re still gnomes!
Exacitor! Been a while since I’ve seen one of your posts. Though the number of mechagnomes players using the mechanical breakdown has gone up.
Any way. To your points:
It’s been a while since I last dared to look at any of the void elf/high elf threads but I have seen with my own eyes people asking for those hair and eye colour options. Not that I am opposed to any such options I just found the reasoning… well ridiculous.
Though to be clear I have seen posts and threads with folks asking for more tentacle hair options as well as other non-blonde options too. The blood elves and void elves both have been fighting over who should get blue. I say why not both. Then again I argue against faction being mandatory so I’m already pretty flexible.
I actually don’t have a problem with other races. I believe that players should play what resonates with them. Their connection with them. I like all the races, tbh.
But, when it comes to Forsaken, which are not a race, I do have some issues with, when it comes to the flat out abominable practices they do. Most Forsaken are basically the Frankenstein doctors that have lost their morals.
Not all Forsaken are like that that though.
I will not bash any of you for your choices. I just wish people wouldn’t bash others’ for their choices in what they play.
(Commentary): I took a break. Was waiting for Shadowlands to come around before coming back. It seems to be about two weeks before pre-patch, so this seemed a good time to come back and take care of a few things before the game gets crazy.
(Observation): That’s fair. I’ve been reading the forums out of boredom for a while to be honest. High Elf players have always treated me nicely so I look into their threads out of courtesy, which is why I felt the urge to post to clarify their points both from a historical and current point of view.
(Commentary): Personally, I agree. The faction restriction is dumb. I can’t say I’d send Exacitor here over to the Horde but knowing how Goblins were instrumental in helping the Rustbolt Resistance, it just feels weird that I’m supposed to kill them on sight now.
All good. I’m mostly done my pre-patch prep. All I have to get now is my void wing and I’m done. Though I probably won’t be back. The devs nerfed the pre-patch pretty hard. That was about the only thing to keep me subbed during my off-season.
That’s fair. Some folks are nice others not so much. Some times a person who is nice in one conversation is a jerk in another. Ah the joys of fleshlings no?
Pets moritz, give him some weeb treats
UwU!
(Consolation): It’s a pity. I remember the old Wrath pre-patch event. It was crazy. I was hoping they’d maybe push it to Warmode, not just kill it off entirely. What a shame, but at least there are some transmog sets to collect and alts to gear up! Alts to level to… four Covenants. Four armor classes. I need about 16 characters!
(Statement): Indeed. Unit Exacitor is grateful for mechanization. I have in-built monitoring systems to inform me when my biological readings are registering stress and it’s time to step away. Part of my lengthy time away from the forums was inspired by such. BFA has not been a fund expansion and just complaining about it endlessly was really wearing thin.
(Solicitation): Salutations my fine undead friend! I see you are enjoying the companionship of your comrade in the Horde, a Blood Elf! Such fine hair they have. Perhaps I might interest you in mechanization? We could replace that rotting arm with a Titan-steel variant with built-in grooming devices in the fingers, including a cleaning agent and treat dispenser!
As kiro would say “my kind kills for less you know”
If memory serves pre-patch is WM only and with a little less chaos. Something like the NPC’s are immune to infection? That might just be an error from something I read on the forums though. But yeah. 16 is about right.
Yeah. But BFA is almost done. Then we can see what the new experience is. Maybe things won’t be as bad as the Beta T’s have been saying.
Eh… not really. It’s more like Ultimate Gohan hair. I believe they did actually make one based on Cloud, but it’s buried in the game files and even the Legion Dalaran NPC based on Cloud uses the Gohan hair (and he actually had the Seph hair for most of Legion Beta).
Undead and blood elves . . . No joke.
For undead it’s some folks blind loyalty to Sylvanas or wanting to be the monsters everyone sees them as (basically wanting to be as evil as possible)
For blood elves it’s a tad more . . . Complicated. Part of it is the anti high elf folks that tend to cling to blood elves as if they created them, own them, and trademarked them and become offended at the very idea of someone “stealing their toy”. This bleeds over into another reason . . . RP reasons. How it bleeds over is through folks like to pretend the blood elves have done nothing wrong and that the alliance not only failed them, but sought to destroy them, pinning the actions of one human on an entire faction. There’s also some who like to pretend the blood elves have always been horde or have always supported them, intentionally or unknowingly ignoring every piece of lore. Then there’s the haughty elf RPers, the ones who embody every fantasy elven stereotype and trope with their holier then thou art mentality which has led to some even embracing the mindset that the blood elves are the holiest race on all of Azeroth. Lastly comes from the early days back in BC, where blood elf players exploded onto the scene and became vicious gankers, becoming tied with undead players as “players most likely to kill you on sight.”
There’s my reasonings, sorry for the wall of text.
They got hair that on the front looks a lot like this really obscure character called Genya from Giant Robo which really impressed me. My DH had “Genya hair”. It’s the10th option. Whoever designed that hairstyle has amazing taste.
Before? Nah.
But recently?
Worgen.
I like variety so I have alts of all the races except the alliance side allied races from BFA which I haven’t unlocked yet and I still need to make a goblin horde character. Just can’t decide what class to make for it. Maybe I’ll make a goblin bank alt! But what to name him or her? Hmmm.
All the hearts for this.
Same reason for me with Vulpera. Incidentally I’ve experienced a disproportionate number of…interactions with Worgen which often ended with me shouting at them to continue their…unsanitary behavior at a certain fiery location in the universe. And that is why I deleted the two characters that were of those races. Collecting heritage armors just isn’t worth it.
