yup. new zone music isn’t as good as the older stuff. it’s as if they worked harder to make sections of the songs fit-together to make the main-theme, than make them stand on their own. just… not something i’m gonna listen to years later, compared to say, WoD, or MoP music that i STILL listen to (or just… stop and chill in their zones).
In my opinion, I think the music has just gotten less consistently great. The music used to be really good most of the time, now it’s not so much
Idk if that’s because as a younger teenager I had bad taste and I’m just more picky with music as an adult, or if the music really has just gotten worse
Either way I find more music I dislike nowadays. Revendreth is amazing though. A nice violin melody with vampire themes is just
I think the big difference between the older and newer music is that the game’s soundtrack was originally atmospheric, but then changed to be cinematic sometime around Legion. So with newer stuff it’s kind of in your face since Blizzard doesn’t really have any tech to make the music match the action; it’s instead just location-based. The newer stuff is also just plain louder.
The music that impacted me the most, and still does, and “hit home” when I started late BC / WotLK are Eversong Woods and Howling Fjord / Utgarde Keep. I enjoy those so very much and listen to them quite often just to relax. I like them a lot. Top notch music IMO.
I have a long list of my favourite music in WoW from each expansion. One of my favourites is the soundtracks for Hall of the Guardian and New Dalaran as I loved afking there as a noob mage back in the day (yes I am relatively new)… WoD also has some sick ambient music like Frostfire Ridge and Talador.
WOW has music?
It’s lost
It’s lovin’ feeling
Wooah it’s lovin’ feeling
It’s lost it’s lovin feeling and I can’t go on
OOoooooh
I remember times that music would just start playing and I’d be like “uh . . . what’s up?” And wonder why I’m not in combat.
That’s because they got rid of the composer and there’s no more actual orchestra anymore. It’s all digital.
I’m not gonna lie, the last time a song from the WoW soundtrack stood out to me was that battle music from Halls of Stone. Or Bronjham’s music, but i feel like that’s cheating.
I wouldn’t know I am usually either watching netflix or listening to external music.
This was peak WoW music:
I would spend hours just flying around herbing and mining and listening to it.
Not a fan of Classic but might do Wrath when it comes out . . .
Elysian Hold has some of the most captivating music in the game.
Wow music never had magic to me. In fact I turn off music in game and listen to metal instead.
I never found WoW’s music remarkable really.
Well executed? Yes of course.
Special? Eh.
The only piece that I ever considered nice and pleasant as background music has been Eversong Woods music and more recently, some pieces in Revendreth but the rest it’s as generic as it can be to me.
When big budget cuts are made so CEOs can get 200 Million dollar bonuses? The music department is always one of the first to go. Activizzard just did what public schools have been doing for years.
Get a mod called Leatrix Plus.
It puts a button on your minimap that, among a bunch of other fun QOL things, lets you select which music you want the game to play. Was playing Storm Peaks (night) while in maldraxxus earlier. Made it far more epic.
Nope, because I seldom listen to it. I rather listen to other things personally.
