He was banned off Youtube. I’m not sure what kind of ban he got because he still makes Youtube videos. He might have just been suspended from streaming or something.
And therefore: aliens did it?
I get the crossover marketing but dont believe in the preference theory, where Blizzard is secretly allowing people to cheat. Accusing them if that is not smart. There are creative attorneys in SoCal.
Nothing prevents Blizzard from adopting a transparent reward for streaming their game, ie, “we hereby grant Esfand three legendaries for his efforts in promoting WoW”. How would you receive that? In what universe would Blizzard reward cheaters in secret, in lieu of transparent rewards, at their rightful discretion?
…and… dont forget…
Game companies can play the copyright ban card annnnnytime they want. The present case law is on the provider side, so, Blizzard already does streamers a favor by letting them stream their brand, because of the marketing boost.
One day soon, license contracts for streamers, and beteeen streamers, will be a much bigger thing. Bank on it.
Everything he did in this instance is caught completely on video. There is no ambiguity about his actions.
You say he broke the rules. Blizzard says he did not. I don’t watch streamers. I never played on a private server. I am neither a streamer fanboy nor a PS fanboy, and I agree with Blizzard.
I don’t understand what aliens have to do with the price of milk…but…ok?
Who?
I honestly haven’t seen anyone named. The only case I heard was Esfand, which wasn’t the layer bug. It was a different bug altogether, and the GMs gave him the go ahead to continue the raid even though it reset.
I never said that streamers get special treatment or any “preference theory.”
I mean look at Asmongold and launch day. Didn’t he DC and had to wait half a day to relog lol? So obviously they don’t get any preference, but Blizzard would be really stupid to ban streamers with the thousands (guessing here) of subs that streamers make for Blizz. That’s why they’re being lenient with the whole exploit thing
LOL there is zero evidence that streams have even resulted in a single sub. Blizzard doesnt need streamers. Streamers need Blizzard.
Sure there’s evidence. Watch Ninja’s stream on Mixer when he plays WoW. You will literally see chat and donos where people tell how they’ve started playing WoW.
I can only imagine that there are more. CDNthe3rd, Timthetatman, Shroud, DrLupo. Sure, many of those played WoW before now but they also took huge detours with the popular BR games last year, attracted followers, and brought some of them to WoW.
guys, here is the thing, I am all for seeing a streamer get a ban and punished, but I also would understand if it was for no more than 24 hours at most. The streamers do generate a lot of positive things for Acitivision/blizzard even if I don’t agree with them on it, it is their prerogative. I do feel for the community sake they should do something though, even if its a minor thing, just something to show the streamers a little humility towards the company who runs the game and allows them to stream it at all, it is a symbiotic relationship after all and both sides need to be in accord.
1 set of rules for everyone, NO EXCEPTIONS!
How did he exploit it?
Oh man, I so wish.
in a lot of ways I agree, but remember, this is real life, nothing is fair. no matter how much we wish it would be. so instead, we look at a compromise, because not doing so means we are no worse than those we wish to see punished.
He’s leeching Ron Jeremy’s looks and not leeching a bar of soap with a shower. Overrated grimy man he is.
Just dropping in here to say kudos on this word. I’m going to use this every day whenever I can.
Ron Jeremy may be ugly, but man is smart. I dont know this streamer but I doubt he is as smart as Ron Jeremy or as “talented” lol
The bug that happend to Esfand happend in original vanilla WoW. No one got banned for it back then so why should the now? The precedent has already been set for how Blizzard handles that bug waaaay back then. Which was let the group re-clear, no bans. People really over crying out some minor extra MC loot. Esfands experiencing that bug has literally ZERO effect on anyone here complaining or anyone in general. This is just clear and simple jealousy.
Don’t streamers pay the same subscription i do? Why should they have privileges? This is not the classic experience AT ALL. Blizzard already messed up this game and it’s not even phase 2 yet. Just trying to imagine what this game will be like 6 months from now makes me shiver.
By the way, even if not all streamers did the dungeon exploit, pretty much all of them were exploiting layering on a daily basis in the open world to their heart’s content. Guys like Jokerd and Method players made sure everyone knew about this and gave the Ok to abuse everything. Why is it wrong in dungeons but not everywhere else? These double standards are ridiculous.
Has anyone been banned?
That’s a bs cover story put forth by Lore. It also does effect others, now they feel its probably worth the risk to exploit if they just play dumb.
