Equal under the law is a loaded term. There are no laws when it comes to how Blizzard handles their own game, they can do as they see fit. We can’t do much about it.

Personally I’d love to see everyone that actively and repeated abused these exploits be banned, without distinction. But I had the feeling this would go the same way the Necro Exploits did in D3.

For those that don’t know what happened during the Necro exploit, Blizzard banned a few random players, but every streamer that did it got away without punishment.

Guess I’ll just go about my business, case is probably closed and locked at this point.

Unfortunately Blizz feel like they get something out of streamers in the way of free advertising, so quite often they get a free pass.

It would probably take something pretty heinous for them to bring the ban hammer upon them unfortunately. The rest of us not so much.

Some poster also said that a streamer was teaching his audience how to exploit this glitch via his twitch stream. And so far all streamers are unaffected. You must know these streamers provide free publicity to Activision Blizzard. They won’t hurt them one bit.

Esfand did not - they went into the raid and found that it reset. They spoke with a GM before they did anything and asked them what they should do. It seems that everyone here is just on a witch hunt for streamers.

If a streamer was deliberately exploiting the layering issue multiple times, by all means, lets see it.

Someone mentioned Esfand’s random MC reset in this thread, which is a pretty clean example of the other end of the spectrum. In that case, they just turned up to raid and the instance had been reset. They didn’t do anything intentional to cause it or go looking for reproduction steps so they could abuse it - in fact, they reported it to us and didn’t continue until they got confirmation that it was out of their control (and that we wouldn’t consider it an exploit if they cleared).

Soooooo since I’m seeing a lot of confusion (here and elsewhere), here’s some insight into how we draw the line between what makes something a punishable exploit versus a “happy little accident.” The key factor here is intent. Did the player do something with the specific intention of causing a glitch to occur, and did they do it order to exploit said glitch for their own benefit?
