lmao…I can only go by their ACTIONS, guy.
Their ACTIONS tell me they dont think it can ever happen again.
and AGAIN…sub drops arent the problem…CATASTROPHIC sub nose dives are what we need to worry about.
If you…or blizzard…think it cant happen again, its YOU…and they…who are delusional.
Speaking of…the other major and I mean MAJOR issue I have is scaling. Not just the garbage they pulled with Legion raids, I mean scaling in general. It has completely RUINED the feeling of power progression we used to have. I went back to BFA to get the bee mount before I quit and the mobs in BFA were just like fighting a mob in SL. No difference. I didn’t kill things fast in BFA at all. It OLD CONTENT why in the hell is it taking the same amount of time to kill something when I’m 10 levels stronger? Oh that’s right…the anti-RPG, anti-MMO mechanic of scaling.
If I could remove one thing in wow it’d be scaling.
So WoW is dying and Death is winning over WoW with half it’s player base gone? That Jailer guy is a real stinker for pushing for a Death victory isn’t he? He killed loot for blue kool-aid, gave us temporary items in dungeons where you leave with a little more kool-aid if you are lucky, and unending grinds of no fun where even ground mounts got the heave ho like flying mounts in a new zone for tiny amounts of new kool-aid if you soldier it out. (Don’t care that will change in a future patch, it’s happening right now and that is the problem.)
Unfriendly to alts and old content not scaling proper for people to solo grind? Yeah that could cause problems. Lack of any sense of character progression cause as you level the world levels around you? Yeah that would upset a few folks. It’s like the guy who wanted to leave WoW for something else brought the something else back and made it WoW when usually they’d just get heckled for it in the forums.
Yeah I can see half of the player base heading out the door when there isn’t much new to announce/change in the very near term…hic!
But that consumer behavior is normal for every MMO.
If you think the % drop is potentially massive then what do you do to fix it?
Is it caused by game balance
Top end progression not rewarding
Low end casual play not engaging enough
Loss of Community due to LFG, LFR, cross server battlegrounds & shared auction houses.
Story/Lore no longer interesting and making players feel emotionally invested
People whose real life priorities change and no longer spend the time playing a MMO?
I mean I don’t think you can only do any meaningful analysis based off the forums, or a youtuber.
And honestly none of us work for Blizzard, and Blizzard does not use these forums for feedback or as a means of communicating with the player base.
the second half of this video is very interesting. bell and his bud talk about how they might be planning a " characters leave but they come back so lets plan some spikes "
his retort that each time he left it felt bad was very important.
if they continue down that path… majority will leave and not come back
This was always going to be a thing, as with there being definitive ilvls for things and no more random god-procs you were always going to be sitting there staring the reality that if you weren’t pushing the high-end content you were going to hit a wall eventually.
Blizzard just really screwed the lower-end of that progression by making Covenant gear scale to 197 as early as it did. As that makes anything under even mid-range keys pointless, makes LFR pointless, makes honor gear pointless (outside of needing the verse). Which is pretty much the entirety of the progression they had created for casual players.
The PvP gearing would be fantastic, if the PvP gear wasn’t good for everyone. With PvP gear being good, if not BiS, for everyone the ability to target which piece you want and control being able to upgrade it … I mean anyone should have known it’d have been the go-to gearing method. Just leaves me questioning Ion and how blind he is to the overall health of the game when making choices.
I’m seriously hoping 9.1 comes with a badge vendor that follows how Wrath did it. Raiders were quickly able to get the gear within a week or two, and were able to fill out slots even if they didn’t get loot from raid. And casual players were able to eventually get gear from doing their daily dungeon queue. But I’m expecting some raid-only currency with upgrades being available based on achievements
I joined the WoW community late so I missed Legion but watching those two videos was pretty sad. Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying most of shadowlands though I hate the time gating/forced covenant artificial choice/lack of armor variety/not enough casual content.
the only reason I stay subbed is all that old content I still havent done given I only started playing in 2017. TONS of mogs to collect still.
If I didnt have that, the current game couldnt keep me interested right now. maybe the patch will add more questlines to run.
Players ruined group content since BFA so thats not anything Im doing a ton of. I love healing, but with player behavior, they can rot in queue all day long for all I care.
Well you do have a point but i would rather have them making the first patch really good BUT they should have a good dialog with their customers why they do it and also listen to valid concerns from players who are taking part in Alpha, Betas…
