I think many of us are trying to NOT have the 40% or so decline WoD had. lol.
At some point a thing, whatever it is, is no longer viable.
I dont trade much in gold because I cant make money with it.
Silver and Rhodium, however, have earned me enough to buy new cars with when I sell.
This game has had horrible nose dives with subs before. It can happen again…and who knows what the breaking point for the company is. Not like they dont have other games.
some of the seem to do that and only that. Like theyre Ions alts or something, lol.
They aint the ones who make the game better, though. If all we had was that sort the game could continue to decline, theyd keep right on knighting and there’d be no reason to bother fixing it or making it better.
COMPLAINTS get crap fixed, not knighting.
its almost like they forget that casual players of whatever level and grade most likely comprise a vast majority of the player base
I definitely see the same people in many different topics chanting the same mantra that the game is fine and better than ever. I wonder if they honestly believe that or are they truly trolling…
If they call THIS ‘better’ than Mists, classic, etc, then they seriously have no clue what good gaming actually looks like.
Ive been playing computer games since Pongs release for God sake.
And Id rather go run the Barrens for the 137th time than play in SLs currently after the campaign content went dry.
They need to explain why Id rather go level another character thru old content again instead of playing CURRENT content.
Its not me. If it were Id stop playing the game entirely.
Its the game. Right now on this date, its lackluster and nothing more than a mindless grindfest with very little reward, and thus reason for playing
It’s a legit psychological condition.
People normalize behavior and patterns to allow their brains to adjust to what would otherwise be perceived as deteriorating norms. It’s an archaic survival construct in our psyche that is meant to help in the keeping of self preservation.
That’s why the world could be crumbling and falling apart and you’d still hear some people say “this is fine, things will be okay” when an objective mind looking in from the outside can clearly see the calamity taking place.
It’s sad tbh.
BC like classic will be a great success.
That will breathe life into the entire WoW franchise. But that is a golden opportunity for BlizZard to improve the current retail product of systemlands.
Demanding more from BlizZard is fine with me. WE ARE THE CUSTOMERS.
Stockholme syndrome.
" Stockholm syndrome is a psychological response. It occurs when hostages or abuse victims bond with their captors or abusers. This psychological connection develops over the course of the days, weeks, months, or even years of captivity or abuse."
I fully agree. That’s why I’m out. Sub runs out in a couple of days and not sure when/if I’ll be back. I swear I don’t want to come back until the current dev team is replaced with a competent team that understands what made wow great in the first place.
It’s not tho, same sub
You’re delusional if you think Blizzard “forgets” that.
Reality is casual base will quit no matter what, literally in that very comment I point out that every expansion has this drop.
We’re in the 13th week of the tier/season, and if lining up with uldir that would place us at Dec 4 in 8.0 (the next week 8.1 came out and we all know how much content was in those 6 weeks before BoD). Also back then BFA felt like it died around late Oct/early Nov.
As for me back then, I had already quit in early October. And ironically I have done the same thing this expansion. However in BFA I ended my sabbatical once 8.2 dropped. The essence system felt like it rewarded effort and scratched that itch for me, which personally I haven’t seen so far in SL. Or it could be that I am a mid-to end expansion type player. Not a fan of the purposely withheld QoL changes people have asked throughout beta and crop up once player engagement metrics have dropped. Would prefer for those to be in at an earlier point. I am not aversive to grinding (gave CLF r4 to someone to get them their azeroth’s champion title):
I just do not like having my time wasted for nothing. The rank 4 essence grind felt great much like the artifact appearance panel we had in the order hall. Those visual forms of progression get me going to play the game. And for the last expansion even though I failed getting azeroth’s champion title, trying to play multiple forms of content as an alliance heroic raider felt great.
This past week the guild managed to drag me into heroic, and it was fun. And I want to play the game again however the 200-220ish process does not look appealing, and part of it is sending me back to the thought process I had in summer 2020 concerning wanting to get a boost to 2400 for that last rank 4 essence. Like right now, why struggle through the gearing process when I could buy ksm for around 4 mil and w/e amount of gold for a boost to 1800/2100? Just seems more efficient, cause the gear is transient and the rewards are permanent. Just feels like this expansion has made me (and others) more easily feel like they have to resort to boosting since effort for even lower tier activities just isn’t worth the time invested. There are many reasons why I feel like the change has occurred (blizz wants token sales, them designing gameplay loops to more aggressively constrain people who play 12+ hours/day, etc). I just don’t know.
The whole “same sub” argument does not invalidate the obvious fact that two iterations of the SAME GAME are sharing in a sub.
Nowhere in history has this been deemed a GOOD thing. Eventually, one will have to make way to the other as resources/budgets are constrained over time when the game eventually reaches its end of life. Nothing is forever.
The question then will be, which iteration of WoW will remain with X budget allocated to it to keep Y amount of servers open.
Does anybody else get triggered by this guy always using the same emoji on every single post? xD
Maybe I need my coffee.
What?
No, see EverQuest as an example
That’s true with anything
Meh, that’s years down the road 5 to 10
I am still riding the wave of barbershop hype from prepatch. I mean there is not much else to be excited about with systemlands!
+1
Funniest part is, I’ll go spend HOURS …did it all day yesterday…running around Pandaria, Kalimdor, EK and even broken isles just killing and looting.
Reason being I know that there is a VERY high chance of BoEs dropping in a lot of the old content…and so a chance for new mogs that I’ll never use.
Theres the ‘reward’.
I get more reward running old content than new for my time investment.
And THAT is how our brains are typically wired when we game. The leveling placebo only takes us so far. Even if its just subconscious, no one here can tell me that they dont enjoy the idea of having a loot drop off some world trash that might be a new transmog or pet or whatever else they dont have.
This game seemed like the devs USED to understand how to keep it appealing. And now they lost that somehow.
Id spend all day in SLs farming world trash IF it was worth my time investment, since that seems to be all there is to do after a couple WQs for whatever todays thing is.
Personally Id prefer smaller patches with new content every couple weeks than bigger patches every couple months.
its brutal but yea… expected from what we got.
this is sadly pathetic expansion… deserved much more then what we got.
i mean… if they dont pump money into this game… lifesupport isnt going to save it.
9.1 needs to bring so much more than what we see.
It doesn’t matter if its 20 years down the road. The point is this is why your argument of “it’s the same sub” is misleading.
The same sub covers TWO versions of the SAME game. Eventually, the time will come when ONE will have to be chosen to remain online. I highly doubt a corporation as bureaucratic as Acti-Blizz will continue to maintain an operating expense on the books for both iterations unless BOTH are generating comparable revenue.
At the end of the day it will be a survival of the fittest with which version remains and IMO it will be the one that generates the most revenue and has the less overhead.
Recently I went around and just pick pocketing junk boxes from mobs in MoP and Cata even though it is not good gold/hr anymore.
Legit I had some fun doing this.
I still craft hexweave bags because it is more fun to assemble the mats and still make gold.
