Half the Playerbase is gone?

Hazel is definitely the top now.

They’re transitioning the game into a new phase. I think they expect people who prefer the legacy game to gradually peel off and play the legacy modules they’re releasing like Classic and TBC.

if i was a Blizzard™ employee, i am sure i’d be required to put a trademark on my replies, else daddy™ Kotick would have my head.™

The fact that there are no trademarks on my replies prove that I am not a Blizzard™ employee.™

I returned to WoW Xmas/19 and experiencing scaling for the first time in open world questing was what brought me here as I thought there was something wrong with my game.

Finding out it is intentional has not changed my mind.

There should be two difficulty modes:

  1. Easy/Scaled (present scaled system)
  2. Challenging/Progression (Cata non-scaled system and level difficulty

So folks can choose how they want to play.

Conspiracy Opinion Piece ahead

What if…and bear with me here…what if…

Classic was launched not to capture that private server revenue…but because they realized they royally f’d up retail. So they said hey, let’s relaunch the whole game again but this time better and only include the features that were positively interacted with in retail.

So then retail until its end of life just becomes a testing ground for new mechanics/features to load only the successful ones into classic. Then retail is given its end date, and classic becomes the only and final iteration of WoW.

LOL. I just thought about that as I was trying to figure out why the heck they would shoot themselves in the foot by launching a competing product to retail under their own umbrella.

I don’t think that’s the case. Classic and TBC classic fill niche areas that older and more nostalgic players crave. There’s no way that a huge majority will move to these venues, based on what they’ve collected in the 13+ years they’ve played retail. Especially, when there’s no backward compatibility to those items collected. The team in place knows how important it is to many for transmog gear.
What I don’t understand is why they aren’t allowing legion and BFA to have the “legacy” tag so we can solo the stuff.

Personal Experience, I’ve seen guildies slowly quit and people on friends list not log on to play wow anymore. Struggling to find people who want to raid on alliance side now too and pugging seems to be a hit or miss for the remaining slots.
I personally stop doing daily quest, the game just isn’t fun. The only reason I log on is to actually raid 2 nights a week, and honestly if it wasn’t for the guildies I dont think I would get on either.

Crap, imagine fixing Cataclysm LMFAO

Exactly. I guess his sort doesn’t pay attention to the fact that one of the reason things get done in the game and get reverted or changed or made better is because we’re in here complaining and when stuff doesn’t get fixed people start unsubscribing. The game gets better because of people like us not people like that guy

He must take anything and everything from all aspects of life and accept them without question.

That leads to control and no change.

This might be the most fantastic analogy of what is happening with WoW that I have ever read. This is amazing +1 A+ 100%.

You know I’ve wondered about that lol. I wondered if they realize that retail is basically not going to be fixable so what they do is they issue a last expansion. They keep the servers up because people like me will continue playing it but then they go back and work with classic and try to make it the game that maybe it can be that current retail probably will never be again

TBC will shatter the retail fan boi’s expectations.

LOL, my server is constantly running MC to this day. The server nearly lags out, every day, when the Ony buff goes out and we are a “medium server”. You truly have no idea how popular classic still is.

I’ve read them all and not one single person has said that. However there has been some white knight shills such as yourself that want to bury their head in the sand and blindly repeat the same mantra “the game is fine. the game is fine. the game is fine.”

Every Xpac gets a boost and then a decline

Are you replying to the wrong poster?

I’m calling out GD for its nonsense. This isn’t a zero-sum game where condemnation for GD is praise for Blizzard. Only a stooge believes that garbage logic.

The hope is that Bliz can see the numbers and trace what went wrong…

hint… m+ gearing broke, a LOT of people liked that system and don’t want to PvP or raid instead… and the great vault is a great disaster - it does absolutely nothing to make the RNG system better.

I did 10 to 20 m+ a week in BfA. I do one, just one, now. And that means I login now just once a week for a half hour. So keep that in mind too - I have not QUIT but yeah, I barely play now. I’m not going to do 10 dungeons just for 1 rng piece a week and zero in-dungeon drops that mean anything.

I mean this happens really every expansion, and with Blizzard seemingly going all-in trying to appease a more dedicated base … this being a larger drop of expansions of the past isn’t surprising either.

In contrast;

That’s not nearly as impressive as it used to be. Classic is still running ontop of Modern WoW’s architecture, which is all the same stuff that you can cause to die while having 30 people in the same zone in retail.

Classic is by no means a failure or dead, but it’s also not some giant thing that has millions of people playing it.

You are the definition of condescending. Would it kill you to actually be nice in your posts instead of throwing childish insults all the time?

Anyway yes, I’ve seen you in numerous topics defending wow like it’s your job.
