[H-RP] To Honor the Fallen: November 16th

The memorial for Mankrik’s Wife. :sob:

Wow, this conversation has really taken off, and I love it!

At this point, I’d like to offer that you all message me if you feel the need, but please dont assume I have any final say in this event. I brought this up because its an event I’d love to attend. Feels like others are inspired, and some are taking on a leadership roll. I say: go with it!

Let me know if I can help. And I can assure you the Sunreavers will be present.

Do you have this on the in-game calendar? If so, could I get an invite?

Really? I must be stupid. I’ve never seen this before. I’ll have to check it out after class tonight.

I’ll send ya the co-ords on Discord! It’s a pretty nice spot honestly.

Taz’jin and I spitballed a lot of ideas tonight. Fleshed out a good outline for the event itself. Joint effort between GorWatha and VKL. Opening speeches, followed by blessings/vigils, then allowing others with prepared speeches to talk. Brain is mush because of class, so I’ll hammer our more things with time.

Looked at all those locations you offered Valkosk. Good suggestions, however I know a lot of them wouldn’t be the best for large crowds. After looking around, I think the Razor Hill graveyard is a good spot with a lot of good potential.

Bad screenshot, sorry. Figure I should toss this in here to keep up the discussion and if anyone has any ideas to add.

As long as it’s pro-Horde and not a Sunshine and Roses How Great Is It That We’re Friends With The Alliance Now thing I’ll be more than happy to help out however I can and will drag my net to get as many Sundered Skull and friends there as I can. Drom’s as Old Horde as they come and would be honored to provide spiritual services as needed as well.

Has anyone placed an event on the calendar universally yet? Or should one be made? I’ve only made one on my guild calendar so far.

I’ve just put up an in-calendar event. I’Ve invited most of you (I think) and granted you all Moderator Status, so that you may extend invites to guild members and friends.

I’m definitely down for this. If you need any more help let me know, I love setting up community events.

Great! So far we have the following in mind (between Taz’jin and I):

  • Hosted in Razor Hill’s graveyard
  • Opening memorial speech
  • Blessing to the fallen, the lost, the captured, and forgotten of the Horde
  • Allowing others to speak if they wish (although we’re wondering if we should make a list or just open it to anyone who comes)
  • Closing remarks, moment of silence

Fairly basic, “no-flash-photography” set up. How does this sound so far?

Sounds great!

Having run that peace event recently I’d definitely suggest a list. Maybe you could even do it in a way where different representatives do speeches on behalf of different races, giving the whole Horde a voice and echoing the upcoming “Council of Leaders” government?

I like that. Although, I wonder if some folks will get the wrong idea and think of them as figureheads in some regard. Feathers are ruffled really easily when we go down that path. :stuck_out_tongue:

If we want to do that, we’ll need to make sure what they want to say is at least pre-written, so it doesn’t run too long. Since this is the first of its kind, we can do first-come-first-serve, and then if this is a hit and we want to do it annually, votes? (May become too bureaucratic?)

Since Taz’jin is already giving a blessing, we could make him the troll speaker / representative. We’d then need:

  • An Orc Speaker
  • Tauren Speaker (Highmountain can be combined in here, too.)
  • Undead Speaker
  • Blood Elf Speaker
  • Goblin Speaker (would they even want to ICly?)
  • Pandaren Speaker
  • Allied races optional? (Are they too young to the Horde? Would they relate/feel comfortable?)

Not all races are needed, but the slots are open. The “bigness” would not matter; it doesn’t need to be bombastic and grand.

Agreed - and maybe this would allow for time for more than one race to speak. Typing it as you go takes a tad too long. I’d even suggest we limit the time a speech can take, so we’re not sitting there for 20 minutes going through one speech. Maybe 5/10 minutes tops?

I’d be happy to put my hand up as an undead speaker! Especially given that my guild will be launched by then! (Watch this space :O)

If they’re interested I feel their perspectives would be valuable, even if they’re new. They were still involved in this recent war!

Again though, we don’t need to be rigid about it. But diversity in a faction as diverse AS the Horde is a good thing to have imo.

Good points. Should there be a topic the speech should follow? “To Honor the Fallen” has many themes so far, but I think there’s three main topics to keep in mind: Honor the fallen, remember the forgotten, and to help unite the Horde. What does this memorial stand for your race? Why is it so important we stand together?

Definitely - I think those three themes are excellent honestly. This isn’t the time to talk broader politics or peace with the Alliance. It’s a memorial and should be treated as such!

This is starting to shape up very nicely, then. So these spots are still vacant:

  • An Orc Speaker
  • Tauren Speaker (Highmountain can be combined in here, too.)
  • Blood Elf Speaker
  • Goblin Speaker
  • Pandaren Speaker
  • Nightborne Speaker
  • Zandalari Speaker

Would we want to update this thread post, or should we think about making another? @Axiann

I’m not part of a guild at the moment, but I’ll gladly volunteer as a speaker for the Tauren. Enyetof definitely has some thoughts.

That’s fine. Guild not required for attending OR assisting. Thanks, Enyetof. Still have these slots vacant:

  • Orc Speaker
  • Blood Elf Speaker
  • Goblin Speaker
  • Pandaren Speaker
  • Nightborne Speaker
  • Zandalari Speaker

Speech topic for the Speaker(s) to follow: Honor the fallen, remember the forgotten, and to help unite the Horde. What does this memorial stand for your race? Why is it so important we stand together?
