Now I want to know from other guys who play as female characters how often you've run into problems when people find out that you are a guy playing a female character. Same goes with people who play on Moonguard; Especially those in skimpy mogs?

Literally never.

All guys are "girls" and all girls are "girls."

GIRL = Guy In Real Life.

Until you have proof otherwise, this internet rule is paramount to surviving in an online world.

Basically, everyone is a girl.

Girl can also mean goblin or gnome in real life. They just aren't as good looking as goblins and gnomes in game :(
You seduce your enemies is your excuse? Dude you were RPing a flirty female until they heard your voice. Hey if you're into that kinda thing good on ya. Some might find it strange a man is flirting with them while pretending to be a female until they hear ya talk.
So you're a guy, in RL, and on this video game you play a female character, and this female character you choose to dress skimpy/slutty. Now people accuse you of doing ERP, on a realm known for this kinda RP (and I am a proud proud moonguard realmer, that does not erp), then think they are wrong for assuming this...and this is based entirely on that your characters backstory/ongoing personal story is that she seduces her enemies to distract them.

Now here are the problems leading to the outcome you don't like....
*Female character.
*Male Player.
*Skimpy Clothing.
*Realm renown for lewd behavior.
*Bad story for character which supposedly justifies your characters appearance.

Here are some solutions
*Rewrite you character to not use slutty clothing to aid her in battle.
*Make a male character, keep the story for him.
*Find guildmates/friends who do not care about these kind of things.

Those are solutions, notice not one of them is

*Go online and complain about this, but thinly veil it as being a constructive post about what is happening to others in similiar situations and how they think it will end.

I say it's thinly veiled because this post has no reason at all, other than to make your story known which is just complaining. There is no solution for your issue at all by posting here, except that maybe you got some suggestions from me.

All in all, please be quiet and use some common sense.

Thank you.
I keep hearing sad violin music while reading this. Why am I hearing sad violin music while reading this?
The majority of men played female toons upon release of the game. No one cares what you gender you play, probably unless your on an rp server and kinda lead people on.

This topic is 04 old, godamn

My main, this character is male. My previous main (classic/BC), an Undead Mage was male.

But about I think 10 of my 14 alts are female.

And I have literally never run into any issue or even anyone that's even given me mild grief about it in game. I've been playing since 11/23/04, day 1. And I've had majority female alts since classic (all classes at level 60).

The only thing I've ever seen is a few insecure males IRL on the forums that moan and cry about it every once in a while.

But in game no one has ever cared.

When I'm on them I don't pretend to *be* female IRL. I don't RP on them. And no one would ever mistake me for female, I'm pretty clearly a male driving a female toon.

But I've really never run into anyone that has ever cared.
When I was on Wyrmrest Accord I knew many of people who were both RPers and played toons opposite of their own sex. It was never an issue.

Honestly the main problem is probably that you were on Moonguard. If I saw you i'd assume you were a guy playing a girl (that what I assume for most female toons in skimpy mog), but I wouldn't assume ERPer other than the Moonguard part. Though I usually don't even look at what servers people are from cause I don't care.

I mean. If this character was on WRA or ED, how much of a difference do you think it would make?

Obviously I can't say for sure but Moonguard is the ERP realm so I'm sure it'd help. That being said there's always a chance people are going to be dumb you just got to find a group of friends that dont care
Ive had female toons since classic.
All my original toons were female (undead lock, NE druid, female pally etc)
Why? Male toons in games have been around since the beginning of mainstream games started (sans TR)
I never had a problem with anyone calling me out for being a male playing a female character even way back then.
I haven't ran into that problem since Vanilla. My mage at the time was a female undead because I love their casting animations and only one time in a pug Scholo did someone ask for my info.

It was along the lines of "Hey you're a pretty nice person, can I get your AIM? It's hard finding nice girls to talk to online".

"Bro I'm a guy".

".....I thought you were a girl since you're playing a female character".

"Nah bro I like how they cast Frostbolt better than the male ones".

"...................."

Sort of like a Siren in ways.

I already boosted this toon and strictly play female characters. Most races the males look bad. This mog I also like quite a bit. Maybe I need to work on making the story a bit more believable. Like for example. Maybe my rogue does most of her work in hot climates so as a result she typically prefers less clothing to cope with the heat more or maybe I am sort of shapeshifter and I need to wear this clothing in order to keep my body from being harmed during transformations.
I've always thought it to be a little on the weird side unless you're playing a game like Tomb Raider.

What happened
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Recently I decided to boost this character so I could join my friends in MG for a bit of RP. There is a lot of stigma surrounding guys who play as female characters and I just so happen to be a guy irl who playing a female character alliance side on moon guard for RP purposes. I ran into a problem recently with my horde side raiding guild. When they found out about this character they accused me of being an ERPer. I was shamed in the discord and then booted from the guild. Now this character wasn't created for ERP purposes. The clothing style just fits in with the RP backstory of the character. She uses her seductive looks to distract potential enemies.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
My question
Now I want to know from other guys who play as female characters how often you've run into problems when people find out that you are a guy playing a female character. Same goes with people who play on Moonguard; Especially those in skimpy mogs? How likely is this to be a problem for me in the future?

I never run into problems.

I'm a guy in real life, I play female toons. I also play male toons. My current main is a female.

I have at least one female toon who plays skimp mogs. It's never been a thing anyone has ever called me on.
Never, but I don't RP.

1. I don't take free crud if I know it's because my character is attractive.

(I have no idea what these weirdos think anyway - that it's a 10 behind the screen? I got news for you, even if it's a chick... it's not. And you KNOW you would only be acting that way toward a 10.)

2. I don't volunteer my gender.

3. If they're offended, because they asked and I told them, then that's on them.
Used to work with a guy on the late shift, on call, who spent his time trolling forums as a 15 YO girl named Candy. Was hilarious. Sort of shocking too.
I assume every female char is a dude even if her name is Emily
