Guys who play as female characters? Got a question

What happened
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Recently I decided to boost this character so I could join my friends in MG for a bit of RP. There is a lot of stigma surrounding guys who play as female characters and I just so happen to be a guy irl who playing a female character alliance side on moon guard for RP purposes. I ran into a problem recently with my horde side raiding guild. When they found out about this character they accused me of being an ERPer. I was shamed in the discord and then booted from the guild. Now this character wasn't created for ERP purposes. The clothing style just fits in with the RP backstory of the character. She uses her seductive looks to distract potential enemies.

My question
Now I want to know from other guys who play as female characters how often you've run into problems when people find out that you are a guy playing a female character. Same goes with people who play on Moonguard; Especially those in skimpy mogs? How likely is this to be a problem for me in the future?

Only problem I've ever had playing a female was with my ex. Every other interaction with normal, sane people (by comparison) has been fine and met with indifference.

I'm not sure I believe that you aren't an ERPer

ive ever only played female characters and i cant imagine running into any problems because from vanilla to now ive never had any issues getting into high end raid guilds, and i sure as hell never gotten kicked out of anything for it.
I just assume everyone in this game is a Wookie on the other side of the screen.

I dunno. I just let people think what they wanna think, no reason to disclose my gender really. I talk ambiguously most of the time, too. I'm pretty sure one of my bnet friends thinks I'm a girl, it's weird but like, I can't be bothered enough to do anything about it.

Also I don't entirely understand RP realms and their weird social rules, but even IF you wanted to erp on a female character who cares? I really don't understand why kicking you from the guild was what they considered the appropriate reaction.

The only people that are going to run into a problem for it are people that are trying to catfish. Don't do that, no problems.
None of the people I play with give two hoots about the biological gender of my video game avatar because none of the people I play with are idiots.

Okay, well, maybe a couple of them are idiots, but they still don't care about the fact that I have female characters.

No there's not. Just a few randos who get bent about silly stuff. Guess what, I'm not really undead, either. Shocker, huh?

I think most people get it that there's a disconnect between the player and their character(s) in terms of identity. I actually find it funny when I find some people have a problem with it.

I mean, I have a black human alt, and I'm white. No one screams racial misappropriation for that. Why is the gender such an issue then?

uh really?

is this actually a thing?

why would there be any stigma?

I’m having a hard time believing any of this.

Girls often project themselves into their characters or create a fantasy character. I doubt they want their character to flirt with a female character who is supposed to be their lover.

Yeah, I have a hard time believing that he was kicked from his guild JUST because they assumed he was an ERPer. Like, isn't that common on rp realms?

Seems fishy. Catfishy even. I don't buy it.
Doesn't matter if you are a guy rping as a girl, or vice versa, or vice vice or versa versa. Shouldn't matter if you do ERP or plain ol' Rp. I don't understand why the old guild kicked you for just ERP though.

As it is, I'm a gay guy who mostly played female chars like trolls, orcs, goblins and Tauren, no issues with that ever in WoW. Did have an interesting time in RuneScape on a girl char though. Got free jewelry, runes, and gp from randos who would give them to me after talking about two sentence. Good times...
That mog is something.

I hope you didn't boost that toon just so you could make this thread.

Enjoy your time in Moon Guard!!!!1111!
As someone who has female toons and toons in RP realms I feel I can say that it’s the combination of the skimpy mog & moonguard that is causing you trouble here. One or the other you might be ok. But both... no judgement, just I think that’s where your going to run into this problem.
There is zero chance that any part of this story happened. Zero.
