To be Honest the first one is better than the second one in my Opinion.
The no roles needed was kinda a turn down for me.
The best part in GW1 was u could really play the way u actually Wanted
I do love the Gold account tough. Wish blizz would do it. Kinda annoying mailing stuff.
The Transmog System was the first out in GW1 and they made it even better in GW2 not surprise on that. They do have one of them best.
I played GW2 when it launched and it was amazing but the end game was just bad. Nothing to do. Dungeons were boring and people used to grind it like they were playing ARPG (run, skip everything, kill last boss, zone out). The no holy trinity was supposed to be good but when it was bad for a dungeon. Unfortunately GW2 was great but they lost me and my friends in the end game, too quickly. I wonder if they fixed those stuff but itās not the same thing anymore. On top of that they had a pretty poor customer support because of NCSoft. I may try it again to give it another chance maybe.
Popularity literally equates to what people want more. I said it was a nice niche to have around, but the opinion that games should all be freeform isnāt shared by the majority of gamers, which is evident by popularity. If all games should be like GW2, it would be more popular. I also never said popularity equates to quality, but when you appeal to more people, quality gets watered down. Games like GW2 are great, but no, not all games should be player driven goals. There are plenty of those, and people donāt like them as much, so why ruin gaming for them?
Itās interesting that you donāt think WoW is the same way, because it really is lol, especially right now. Also, evidenced by overall game sales, those open world sandbox games you donāt like, are dominating the industry overall actually in terms of overall sales. But of course, thatās industry wide. MMOs, youād be surprised how many people actually want the freedom to do whatever they want in an MMO, itās been a demand for over a decade now. A lot of people are tired of the theme park experience and want to lose themselves in an MMO world again, which is exactly what sandbox games do.
I totally get and respect that you donāt like that type of game style and donāt think it should be a thing for MMOs to do, but again, looking across the industry and looking at the direction upcoming MMOs are going, yours really is a minority opinion.
Iām not sure on it being nerfed tbh, but I do the metas on rotation on weekends and make bank.
i meant the queensdale event chain that used to be going, the events all lined up that it was one event after another with nothing but champion lvl mobs. was great gold and great for lvling too.
That because there has been no update to WvW, they tried to do this in first Jungle expansion and it was immediately hated by the WvW population. The only recent addition was the Warclaw which was years ago. Any serious players has probably gotten everything years ago. Nowadays population has gone back to the pve side
Oh yeah I felt this as well, however I was determined to get the legendary rifle which got me through until fractals released .
With no Trinity that is how the game will be. Either mobs wonāt do much damage to matter or its a ādo or dieā mechanic. This why raids and dungeon are bad i nthat game but that makes instances in wow feel so much better
You keep twisting my words. I do like GW2, which is why I play it. I never said it shouldnāt be part of the genre, but you did say all MMOs should be that way. Iām all for keeping options, and have only disagreed with making all MMOs freeform, open content. Iām being open-minded. I would also point out those people that want an open format, have that. What you are suggesting caters to them, and screws everyone else.
Iām talking in generalities because you keep making claims like āplayers donāt want this or thatā, which doesnāt really reflect the industry at all. I also donāt think I said that every MMO should be that way. I specifically said:
Which is true for every MMO. Itās the one constant I have seen in every MMO I have played in the last 20 years, they want to chart their own path and do their own thing. This doesnāt necessarily mean sandbox games, which may be where the confusion is coming from. We have player driven goals in WoW and FFXIV right now, just like we do in GW2 and ESO. I never stated MMOs should be freeform, open content, only that MMOs should be built around player driven goals.
I never said all players, but speak of popularity, I have mentioned that the majority of players choose to play games with more structure, as opposed to an open format. Putting words in my mouth again. If both types exist, and one gets more players, itās quite obvious which games players want. Again, my only point was that no, all MMOs should not be open format. No matter what you have to say about it, it is inherently wrong to remove the option from gamers.
I NEVER said open format.
I said player driven goals, talk about putting words in peoples mouths lol.
All MMOs have player driven goals, GW2/ESO actively encourage more reasons to have them than WoW, but they are there in WoW.
