i miss playing GW2!
I heard they have dinosaurs as mounts there too…
Why do people hate on GW and that wizard 101 game so much? they look so cute
I enjoy GW2 ever now and then. Just never got into as much as wow but it’s enjoyable.
Isn’t that game is struggling right now? I remember quitting GW2 because there’s no gear progression after you finish the patch-gear.
Dude I love Guild Wars 2
That is my other game of choice when I get bored with WOW.
Everything you said I 100% agree with and wish WOW would copy some of their ideas
And still can’t beat out WoW and FF? smh
GW2 was middle of the road at best when it was released 8 years ago. The heart system was innovative tho’. I’ll give them that.
GW2 is
meh
i love its OST
but idk, i think its legit tho
I do enjoyed GW2, puzzles mostly. I had so much fun doing them.
Ah, maybe I’ll go back someday…
Its a good game. I disagree that the combat is amazing. It felt rather unintuitive and floaty 2when I actively played it.
It does have the best mount system out of any MMO.
They didn’t create it, it’s just action game mechanics in an rpg. Also, latency is main stat.
FFXIV pls
FFXIV and WoW pls
SWOTOR pls
months of grind for 5 extra stat points that don’t amount to anything in the grand scheme of things.
GW2 is a dead game
Latency>skill. Again, Latency is main stat.
Buggy Gem shop causes lag to make the server registers single clicks as double from time to time. ANet has a no-refunds policy
Max level doesn’t matter when progression is horizontal and everything scales
It’s not THAT special, but it’s definitely good.
And then any good merit I have toward it is totally negated by the boon stacking meta that’s been present literally forever. Have a build that isn’t constantly stacking like 3+ boons to max on your whole party? You’re bad. Not standing in a little 5 yard circle on top of every other member of your party literally all the time forever? you’re bad.
It kills the fun of the game if you either care about performing well or NEED to perform well for the content you’re doing.
Never stood out to me. Nothing wrong with them ofc. Just not something I’ve thought about.
They do have good mounts. I’ll give it that. Although the mounts themselves are a more involved part of gameplay, so I’d expect them to be.
How so? I recall it being very microtransactiony the vast majority of the time to use it basically at all. And it not really being any different than something like… Runescape other than that.
Idk about out of the game, but in-game just seemed kind of dead in general tbh.
Literally my biggest complaint about the game. There is basically 0 gear progression. There’s nowhere to go. I might as well be queueing for matches in Halo 5. Progression is kind of why I play this genre, and that game offers almost none.
Also, I’d like to point out that even in WoW, both things matter immensely. The gap between a good player and a bad player with the same gear is still huge. But yes, the gear itself is also a big deal. And that’s fine.
Like most B2P games that don’t require a sub, you’re not directly buying power, but you’re buying things that make life significantly easier and farming significantly more efficient. It’s not nothing.
Just wait till you get the dragon mount and find out it’s just a glider and doesn’t actually fly.
I will admit to enjoying my time in GW2, though I prefer GW2 before the expansions came out. Sword/Scepter+Focus Power Guardian ATW.
They just released a bunch of information about the next expansion too. Def a good time to look at it.
Have you even played the game???
The best thing about GW2 is the PvP.
Love it or hate it, that is by design. The fact that they even put Ascended gear in the game was highly controversial at the time, because a cornerstone of the game philosophy since yhe launch of the first game was that max-powered gear should be easy to obtain and not have to be gotten again. The upside is that you are never stealtf nerfed between expansions and have to level up and regear every year or two.
There are many other rewards the game prompts you towards instead, typically in the form of mastery tracks, that unlock new skill and convenience items, like mounts (actual, immersive mounts that matter and dont just exist to be a flat movement speed increase).
Still think it’s dumb that Elite Specs were even a thing. Just blatantly making the new spec OP so people buy the expansions. It’d be like if DK, Monk, and DH all arbitrarily did like 45% more damage than the other classes at all times.
Heart of Thorns was a really good expansion for the story though. That’s what I recommend everyone play through when I recommend GW2. Path of Fire is underwhelming and the base game takes the climax away from the player which is… rough.
There’s legendary gear to farm anyway, while it doesn’t offer a powerboost per say being able to swap stats around is very practical.
For example i play 2 different stats sets depending if i’m in fractals or doing WvW/Questing.
Its also tradeable between your characters of the same armor type.
