Spoken like someone who doesn’t know the industry at all.
Logic escapes people sometimes. Nobody would invest millions on a product doomed to fail.
People are so jaded on WoW and have no idea how the gaming industry even works that they jump at any straw they can to bash how bad another game is, all while STILL playing WoW.
They gonna add the Canon turtle from GW1 in next opus i wonder how its gonna be. Also saw u can buy your own customization boat to do fishing gonna be a cool one.
Im most excited to see the change of world tough
That’s what happens when you choose the philosophy of “the whole game is the endgame”. If you played the game in 2012 and got the best gear that you could obtain it’s still the best stuff you can get in 2021.
I think the games fun personally but there’s no way I could main the game. Collecting things just isn’t an “endgame” for me.
That’s where I went. I enjoy MMO type stuff (group dungeons and pvp) and GW2 is a lot more beautiful than I remembered and I have someone to group with. Also the community chats are super nice… but their playerbase is a bit more hardcore than WoW and they get salty over some of the numbers so stay away from their reddit. Animations are by far the best out of all the MMO’s. Fifteen bucks a month goes super far with GW2 or pocket your cash and just faff about
Guild wars 2 is a fun game, finally got my dreadnought raptor I’ve been after for a while. A former friend introduced me to it when I was on hiatus from WoW during early Legion, it…plays different than I was used to but I’ve found a guild and people I enjoy spending time with in it. Unlike WoW you’ve got to really work at getting upgrades and such where as a lot of things in WoW are handed to us now. I may look into pre ordering End of Dragons expansion for GW2 as when I get time for it I seem to be happy and focused on it for several hours…where as I…just do what I set out to in WoW lately. Less drama too…
Man you guys are making me want to go play guild wars. I really don’t know why I never got into GW2 to the depth that I did WoW. My favorite part of WoW is arena, which to me feels more gratifying than any GW2 pvp.
used to pop up my commander tag and work round the map. Find an enemy zerg and keep telling everyone to stay close to the group and burn through the enemy while our few aoe heal effects kept us up. good times.
I was in it a few months back. (Though I wasn’t commander then) Seemed about as it was when I was doing it.
I think I missed the organized strike teams hitting many places bit.
When I got to it it was already a bunch of zergs bouncing around. Occasionally the swarms would stand off from one another till one got too excited and charged in to die.
This is such a flawed mentality to have as an MMO player.
MMOs don’t need to beat one another.
There is more than enough space in the genre and playerbase that every MMO can succeed and thrive.
We lost a lot of great MMOs because they kept trying to beat one another instead of focusing on the product they had and letting players who wanted that come and enjoy the game for what it was.
That whole mindset, enjoying something for what it is, needs to come back to this overall community.
I don’t hate Guild Wars 2, but I don’t understand why people keep praising its combat. It’s a colossal downgrade compared to what Guild Wars 1 had, with its fantastic skill and class system, and all the variations and options it allowed. Guild Wars used to have a livid PvP community but it has completely evaporated after GW2 because the combat is just not as good.
And no: a dodge button doesn’t make up for it, even less in group PvE content which is what I care about in an MMORPG. The gameplay there essentially boils down to dumping 4 weapon skills (1 is always auto-attack) then weapon swapping and then doing it again with your other weapon. Some classes have interesting F skills, but for many of them it’s just some form of “builder-spender” mechanic.
Guild Wars 2’s combat gets dull pretty quickly for me, the only class I enjoy playing is Elementalist but it’s still not as fun for me as playing my WoW Shadow Priest or my FF14 Black mage or Summoner.
The first one is still the best in my heart.
GW2 is good but I dont really like having spell tied to weapon and having no real role. I love beeing healer but there is no realy point in GW2 which is why i dont play so much.
The rest tough i really like it
I never played GW1 so I have no comparison and I generally don’t compare sequels, either, since the direction of a new game will be that: a new game. Similar to how I don’t compare expacs in WoW to a former one because they change literally every system into a new power curve, new grind mechanic and more currency with an anime-based DBZ story. I’m one of the few people that detests Legion on many levels but I adored WoD and BFA was amazing (until the end story bit which I never quite understood OR felt as doomy as other expacs).
Everyone has opinions and things they like. I can’t support this company any longer, whatever I enjoy of this game won’t matter when people aren’t treated humanely and my money needs to go to places where game devs are treated with respect and decency. Our bars should not be set low. So for me, I’m going to find fun where I can and even if I don’t like every system, or some things rustle my jimmies, there’s always enough positive to outweigh negatives.
Complete misinformation. They actually made that move to refocus Anet on GW2 that they had left with a skeleton crew to work on other R&D projects that amounted to nothing, they laid off people on these projects and put back the people who stayed on GW2, hence why we’re getting a new expansion.
They also had some PR nightmare employees that they had to let go around that time as well. It was just rough for them at that time, i think we can relate to that now as WoW players.
I love PvP myself, although I’m not going to pretend I’m very good or that I’ve done arenas more than fun and giggles. That said; GW2 is mostly based around PvP than it is PvE and PvE is a lot less “healer, tank dps” meta which means unique combinations of players for tackling content. And the one thing I really enjoy about GW2 is there’s lots of content and exploration. The game is free and if you like it, you can upgrade and if not, no skin off your nose
