Guild Banks Pt. 14

Ick. I think that is the end of the world.

Of Warcraft.

We have no idea what Blizzard has in the works for addressing low populations. A suggestion is not required for Blizzard to use it. They do have the tech that means itā€™s a possibility

Blizzard could let people transfer for limited times from high servers to low pop servers.

That can work but it doesnā€™t guarantee population shifts. Players have to opt in for transfers.

Yah. Thatā€™s a problem. A solution Iā€™ve thought of to avoid dead servers is to just shut the server down. Give a good warning about it to let every decide what server to transfer to before it shuts down. For overpopulated servers, Iā€™m not sure what they could do.

That would cause people to quit and never return.

Depends on how itā€™s done.

Letā€™s say there are 3 very low population realms and one very very high population realm.

They could first offer the transfers off the high population to any of the 3 low population realms.

Then if after 1-3 months those low population realms have two that hasnā€™t filled out very well, you then remove the one that did from possible transfer options. Then let more time pass. If after 6 months those two realms are still very low population then announcement that X realm is being shut down in 1 month and all characters on X realm will be moved to Y realm. And if you would end up with to many characters on Y realm because of the transfer then those extra characters would be considered deleted but recoverable after you make room to recover them.

Basically try transfers first, then do a realm merger if it fails, but not in the way they have from retail where the realms touch, but move characters to the selected sister realm and delete the other realm.

They could also try forced transfers from dead population realms to a ā€œnew start realmā€ after the first lvl 60 is reached on the new start realm. For example take 3 dead realms, kill off the realm by transferring all the characters to a new start realm and let it roll. But blizzard should announce that X new start realm will be the transfer for characters from realms A B and C.

Killing a really doesnā€™t need to mean people lose their characters.

Itā€™s doable tho

Forced transfers or mergers is why Blizzard invented their combined realm system.

I canā€™t see them ever choosing to merge servers over combining. Anything is possible but itā€™s not probable.

The fact is guild bank alts and guild banks do the exact same thing. Hold items for guild use. The tracking, and the convenience or inconvenience of use is shifted around from one user of the system to the other.
Iā€™ve seen some call outs in this thread for mental honesty. Letā€™s be honest. They do the same thing. With exceptions to tracking, who can see the actual inventory, and the shifting of convenience/inconveniences.

I had a reply to this but it ended up devolving into an AV rant, so I deleted it and left you a like instead.

Then there should be no problem if the QOL convenience of guild banks which were NEVER part of vanilla was not implemented in Classic.

Players can use the more authentic alts to store those guild mats.

They can also use the more secure in game UI that is actual guild banks. Which will provide better guild leadership by keeping the officers in game instead of doctoring 3rd party out of game logs.

Thatā€™s why I like you.

At the cost of authenticity and opening that door for further non vanilla QOL conveniences.

That is too high a price, IMO.

Iā€™ll take security over authenticity.

Starman advocating non vanilla changes.

Making things up?

Are you saying that you do not advocate any non vanilla changesā€“including, but not limited to: guild banks or a ā€œmodernā€ LFG tool?

Iā€™m saying that youā€™ve said in the past that I want classic to be ā€œas distant from vanilla as possibleā€, which is a lie.

Because those non vanilla changes you advocate would be as close to vanilla as orcishly possible, right?

I see you refused to answer the question which I asked, BTW.

Big surprise.

Iā€™ll say it again. Who would have thought that Starman would advocate non vanilla QOL convenience changes?
