A person might have good interview skills or a resume but there’s no guarantee what kind of worker they will be until they start. What your customer base is is what your percentages should emulate for workers. Male is the majority and should be by far.
FRAT CULTURE TOADS!
GAH! BLIZZ IS NOT DIVERSE ENOUGH FOR ME…
GAH! BLIZZ IS JUST PRETENDING TO EMBRACE DIVERSITY!!
LYING FAKE POO-POO HEADS!

Big “Oh, hi Mark” vibes here lol.
Perfect description for most of these…people. Pretending to care harder than Blizz is…
Yawn
Being diversified is fine, but if you don’t get quality of workers. It doesn’t mean a thing.
I prefer the best candidate for the job. Affirmative action is pathetic.
My concerns with these kinds of issues is alway: are they hiring capable minorities solely on their abilities and knowledge, or are they just hiring cheap workforce just to fill in the blanks?
Of course, full meritocracy is hard and only possible in a utopic society, but still.
Well, there’s always the option to remove the cubicles and rename them Produce Sections.
No, not even in other first world countries. This whole obsession is purely american.
Please provide proof of this claim
What i think happens, is that people process anecdotal differently than they do actual.
Anecdotally, it would seem that Blizzard only responded reactively to public outcry, where had they responded proactively i think no one would question their motive.
Some people seem to forget (conveniently) that people - and yes even corporations - can employ introspection and say to themselves “hey, maybe we werent quite doing the right thing here”. I suppose it’s just easier to make a claim of insincere.
40MPH was their expressway. Regular roads were like 25 KPH. It was a very small island.
Also, I agree that it’s pretty stupid, but it was a good example of a cultural difference. The people in Japan think we are stupid and terrible parents for letting our kids eat McDonalds and use guns but that is part of our culture so /shrug.
Nobody is perfect at the end of the day.
So I would be justified to complain to the NBA that there isn’t enough Latino white or Asian representation in the NBA and they to start firing black players to make room for the under represented races… also the nfl as well
commenting just on the OP , all those numbers are presented as percentages… a classic method used to make unpleasing hard numbers more acceptable looking.
.
Its like when the company insurance ,wants to make a change that will in the end benefit themselves most, they will tell every one how much they had to part with on everyone’s sickness’s and illnesses’ … while not showing at any place or point …how much was taken in. the outgoing numbers will of course be impressive… but if you do even rudimentary guesstimates on the incoming dollars they are picking out of everyone’s checks… its nothing.
the too long didn’t read… I take their ‘numbers’ with a rather large grain of salt .
No, thinking your kids are OK playing in a car at 40 MPH is not an example of a “cultural difference”. I’d be willing to bet that the vast majority of Japanese parents do not think it’s OK to let your kids be playing unbuckled in a car at 40 MPH. The laws of physics are the same in Japan as they are in the US. And if an unbuckled kid is in a car involved at an accident at 40 MPH, regardless of whether or not it’s in Tokyo or Dallas, the kid is at just as much risk of injury either way.
Just because different types of individuals may take different approaches to problem solving, does not mean that their “different solutions” are good ones.
Exactly. Hence why diversity is better.
Also, you are being kind of high and mighty with your judgement of Okinawan people.
You’re not wrong that having a seatbelt is better than not having a seatbelt…but I’m sure Japanese people look at 50% of our population just refusing to vaccinate their kids or buying them hand guns as insane and irresponsible. Cultural differences my friend, cultural differences. Nobody’s perfect.
I think it’s rather strange that you are citing an example of a person who thinks that playing in a car with no seatbelt at 40 MPH as an example of why diversity is better.
I stated that most of the parents there most likely are smart enough to realize that having your kid unbuckled in a car at 40 MPH, and you accuse me of being “high and mighty”? Whatever.
Again. Seatbelts making a person in a car safer is not a “cultural difference”. That is acknowledging the laws of physics.
The other items you are bringing up are transparent trolling, irrelevant to the topic at hand, and completely made up anyway. That’s not worthy of my time.
Have fun trolling somewhere else. I’m through with you.
Diversity and stats on select groups is so prejudice to me. The only good system is purely merit based. It’s a shame people can’t let “diversity” flow naturally.
The US definitely lives in a bubble of its own self-inflated importance.
Twitter is a riot with topics like this
Honestly, I don’t condone companies having some bias ~ but if it’s genuine just hiring on pure talent, needs etc ~ going the diversity route isn’t gonna get you the job done better. There will be more and more youngins growing up thinking they are owed a position just because X or Y. That is a dangerous route to go.
