So you are upset that you could have gotten it cheaper 10 years later?
I think you’re mad it isn’t exclusive anymore, rationalizing it with “principle”, but we both know that’s rubbish.
I think you people are so used to people throwing a fit over whatever that you’re not getting what I’m doing.
This section on the forum isn’t just for whining and trolling, it’s also for feedback. My feedback to Blizzard is if they’re not going to stand by their promotions then I’m not going to participate, especially if in the future they start putting (for example) collector edition and Blizzcon rewards on the Trading Post or stand alone purchases in the shop.
I’ll probably still buy it but I won’t get it from their promotion.
News to me.
Oh man, I go out of town for a few days and I miss all the fun.
I had Tyrael’s Charger on a previous account. I do not understand why people like the cross breed of a horse and a dachshund (because of the short stumpy legs) so much.
So just like the fel drake mount from the Twitch drops, I wholeheartedly approve of Blizzard doing this simply because of the tears of nerd rage entertainment value I get out of this - and even more than the fel drake mount, because I don’t have to do anything here!
From who? Wasn’t me because I was never crying about anything.
Matter of fact, looks like you poorly read the OP and didn’t actually read anything else.
P.s. I owned the Fel Drake before the Twitch drop thing and I’m fine with it being a Twitch drop. I’m also fine with the tigers and rooster being a Twitch drop or reward from the Trading Post.
The words you’re hung up on don’t mean what you think they mean. Your interpretation of their phrasing has nothing to do with the contract stipulations.
I get what you’ve said, but the base of your argument springs from two phrases that undoubtedly had contractual obligations behind them.
Well, you’re right about that. I’m genuinely confused.
You keep saying that blizzard didn’t stand by their promotion but that simply isn’t true. The promotion was a bundle deal, not an agreement that you were getting a once in a lifetime item.
What about all the collectors edition mounts and pets from previous expansions that you can buy separately? Is that also not honoring promotions?
No it’s pretty legitimate for a concern. It’s the same case with Mage Tower. Nobody has a gripe with other people getting the rewards, people have a gripe when they’re told “THIS IS GOING AWAY FOR GOOD, YOU BETTER ACT NOW OR YOU’LL MISS OUT FOREVER!” only for that to end up being fake. Most of the pushback against Mage Tower giving the same rewards stems from the fact we were told about 100 times before release, and another 1000 during Legion that “These rewards are going away, you had better do the Mage Tower now while you can!” Which did cause people, especially those with armies of alts to play in very unhealthy ways in order to complete all 36 challenges just on the premise these things were not going to be attainable later.
If enough people honestly wanted to, this would probably hold up in court because it’s creating a false sense of urgency which is illegal. This is why companies can’t release products ludicrously high, then reduce them to the actual price via a sale like Bethesda did for Fallout 76.
I’m not saying this should happen by any means, but if enough aggrieved parties decided to class action over this and cited the fact this promotion and its included goodies were said to be limited time and presumed to never return to the game so they felt compelled to buy in and maintain their subscription through a drought and one of the worst periods of the game (post DS) they’d probably win but would at most get back their sub fees and basically end up in debt because lawyer fees etc.
It’s not legitimate at all. You’re complaining about a mount being put on our store when it’s been on the store in taiwan for awhile now. You’re not ‘special’ because you bought the worst diablo game and a year of dragon soul.
Well, I can tell that reading isn’t your strong suit as I made it fairly clear my gripe was about being told one thing in order to drive action only for that to end up being false. This is more a case of being aggrieved by false marketing practices. If I was told back then “We’ll probably bring it back at some point” then I would not have bothered with it.
It’s literally no different than card collectors getting mad when they do reruns of limited edition cards. Or when Beanie Babies died literally overnight because a lot of the older and far more rare items they had they decided to rerun which collapsed that entire fad because people came to believe “Well, nothing is ever going to be limited edition with these people.”
I really don’t know how to make it clearer.
If you can get the reward without participating then what is the point of participating? I get that they waited 10 years to go back on what they said about this mount but the point of my feedback is if we starting seeing other limited time only items showing up on the shop and/or trading post then I’m not going to participate. Why would anyone? They’re showing people that they don’t have to… which is counterproductive for a promotion, don’t you think?
Can you show us that statute? Didn’t know all these companies have been breaking the law for decades with limited time marketing gimmicks.
This may be a hot take, but stop allowing yourself to be mind controlled by corporations to make you part with your money.
A wise man once said “A fool and his money, are easily parted.”
You got exclusivity for a good decade. WoW/Blizzard is moving away from that now.
The majority of the players want access to everything in the game so that they will continue paying for it, and Blizzard wants that money.
Your piddly subscription vs potentially millions? I think you are heavily outnumbered here.
I would save that energy for “actual achievements”. Now if they start handing out World First Achievements to everyone that was logged in when a World First happened on a server, that’s one thing. That’s an achievement.
But you spent money on something and got a free gift and are complaining that other people are able to buy the gift you got for free, with money.
Such an absurd stance to take. You should be happy you got it for free while everyone else has to pay cold cash for it.
Because let’s be honest, you were going to subscribe that 6 months/year/decade regardless.
It depends on the context, like this Tyraels mount for example or the TCG stuff they never once said it was going away forever during it’s limited time window, while for the OG mage tower stuff they specifically stated that you had to earn it in legion because it would be going away and NEVER returning.
So with this said I’d expect any kind of old promotional item that was not stated to ever be returning to make it’s way back via trading posts, twitch drops etc…
Exactly. I have never subbed in 6 month chunks, I either bought that mount with gold or $25.
So I would not have participated in the annual pass if they vaguely said “well, it’s not gone forever…” They definitely implied it was in two different websites.
Edit: Oh I almost forgot. I did do the year thing because I thought it was going to be like the original annual pass.
So beetle and hulk murloc on the trading post soon? $25 on the store? Yeah I won’t be doing this again.
I bought it when it first came out – BUT I rarely use it because it screams out a whinny when you mount that gets really annoying really fast. I didn’t care if it became rare because it’s so freaking noisy. Bliz can you put a muzzle on this thing?
Because we want it now and not ten years later.
Right and I addressed the 10 year thing.
