I mean losing all my gold is good enough lesson to never do it again. Not helping is enough reason for me to feel as slapped in the face by blizzard as i was by the scammer. If something isnt against the rules you should 100% help your customer who was victimized instead of blaming them.
If we restored the gold you lost you wouldnât really be losing it, Mcstabbz, youâd be relying on our Support staff to serve as a guarantee that you could engage in unsupported behavior without risk. It is also about more than you, if we recovered the loss in this instance it would also encourage others that they could engage in such behavior and be able to rely on Support to negate the risk.
We do help, by penalizing those who violate our policies on scamming.
People trade gold all the time for any number of reasons. If this were against policy trading gold of any kind between any two characters would be suspect. It would also require enforcing said rules, verifying all gold trades were for legitimate supported reasons. That isnât feasible and weâre not going to micromanage your interactions in-game.
Weâre not blaming you, Mcstabbz, weâre saying that weâre unable to support these kinds of transactions and that if you engage in such behavior that you take responsibility if something goes wrong.
The bank didnt create the world. The bank doesnt have the power to reverse the wrong with the click of a button. Blizzard does but refuses⌠[quote=âVrakthris, post:45, topic:879992â]

Banning the 2 dollar argentenian account used in the scam doent penalize anything.
But i did lose it, recieving help from the people making the game just makes it feel like its even worth the time reporting. And if this happened a second time that stance would be justified. But ive never had anything like this ever happen to me. Its redicilous policy. Its flat out victim blaming and refusal to help people.
Good gravy, itâs notâŚ
Sometimes harsh lessons need to be learned.
good lordâŚ
Losing gold in a video game is not the equivalent of being assaulted in real life. You might want to scale back the rhetoric.
Bottom line this this: No amount of trying to flip this, or trying to put it in a different light will get you your gold back. Blizzard isnât going to get it back to you because youâve played the game for 14 or some years, or how much money youâve spent.
You threatening to not return isnât going to make Blizzard do what you want, or change their rules because you feel entitled to such.
I didnât say they were the same thing. Im saying that refusing to help so the victim learns a lesson is the same ignorant thought process.
The other issue here is that is seems the transaction was arranged by Discord as mentioned early in the thread, something that is neither owned or operated by Blizzard - making investigation of the terms of transaction extremely difficult at best.
Iâm so confused. How do you even trade gold between realms?
Nobody likes getting scammed. The issue other people in the thread are raising is that youâre just lashing at out at everybody that had nothing to do with what happened. Ultimately, you were the one that chose to engage in a trade. Just like it isnât the bankâs fault when people get tricked into sending large sums of money to their long-distance Nigerian âlover,â it isnât Blizzardâs fault that you traded with a scammer. You voluntarily handed your money over to another person. There is no reason Blizzard should give you that gold back. You literally chose to give your gold away. The scammerâs malicious intention is independent of that.
Although, Iâm still very confused about how you even trade gold across realms in the first place.
There is a big difference between Refusing to Help and Canât Help, if you go out side Blizzardâs venue to arrange something, thatâs on you, Blizzard cannot help with that, they are not ârefusingâ to help.
At this point i dont even care about the gold anymore. Blizzard just doesnt care about their customers anymore. If they looked into it and were just unable to verify that is what happened thatd be one thing and id be happy they atleast tried to help me.
You trade gold with someone on one realm and trust that theyâll trade an agreed amount with you on a different realm.
Mcstabbz, weâve had this policy about this kind of unsupported transaction for as long as I can remember, it isnât new. We care about our players and always have, nothing has changed there. Not being able to grant a request doesnât change that, sorry.
Then perhaps you might want to wait until your initial ticket is actually addressed, Mcstabbz. Since you submit your ticket nearly 12 hours ago and it hasnât been answered yet I canât say what theyâll find.
However, you already outlined much of what happened here, and in the ticket, you made the agreement in Discord, something we have no means of verifying. If we can verify a scam weâll certainly apply any applicable penalties.
At this point this thread is becoming increasingly unproductive so Iâm going to lock it up. Good luck to you, Mcstabbz.
