Gold theft on Defias Pillager alliance

A guy named Bankbross/Greatwariorx is stealing people’s era gold with a toon named Xferera on Whitemane, asking for 5 to 1 trades Whitemane to hardcore. He stole 9800 gold that we know of.

Keep an eye out, don’t give gold to level 1’s, demand to see their mains or show the gold first. It’s sad that scammers feel the need to lie, cheat and steal to get by in this world, but let this be a warning so this does not happen to you.

Using peoples specific names on the forums is against forums TOS.

Also why would you trade first on something that is unregulated with someone you don’t know.

“The exchange of gold or items with another player on a different realm or faction is entirely at your own risk and is unsupported.”

I can’t find a specific article that references the name and shame rule but here but here is a GM talking about it.

This isn’t theft. Nothing in this game is one-sided and trades are no different. If people are getting fooled then it is on them to not be so gullible. One of those rare times when life lessons apply to a video game.

“If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.”

I have a couple bridges in Ironforge available at reasonable prices ranging from 500 to 5000g. Let me know.

OP isn’t trying to get anyone banned. Just to be on the lookout for a scammer :expressionless:

it is absolutely theft :expressionless: whether or not it’s bannable is another story.
not sure why people are tripping over each other to defend a scammer.

It still falls under the name and shame/calling out rule. OP and you if you want can feel free to ignore it at your own risk.

again, not sure why people are tripping over each other to defend a scammer :expressionless:

I have not posted anything that constitutes defending the scammer. I pointed out a lack of judgement in OPs part and posted a Forum TOS rule he should be wary about

No, it’s not. Just because you don’t like what’s going on doesn’t mean you get to label it however you choose.

I don’t see that happening at all. What I do see are people explaining the name and shame policy (which you and op don’t seem to care about even though it applies to someone doing this to you) and people like me that don’t see what is going on as theft.

Unless this/these players are somehow pickpocketing other players, then people are giving up gold voluntarily which is the opposite of theft.

I mean you are right, its not theft. Its fraud. But that is semantics. Calling the person a scammer is correct.
