Gold Seller Tactic

Just had two random players try to invite me to a channel which had the gold seller URL in the name. How does one opt out of having other players being able to invite you to channels?

Not much you can do as far as I know. best thing you can do is /w the person who sent the invite and just say “Hey” or whatever. then right click and report.

Interface Options -> Social -> Block Chat Channel Invites

You’ll still get a message in the chat log but you’ll not get the dialog popping up to annoy you.

They’ve been doing this since a couple of days after release.

just had the same thing happen on Pagle . Hope they get these guys quick. If not the economy will go down the drain.

This. Then report them and /ignore.

History tells us Blizzard failed completely to deal with gold sellers … but then all MMOs suffer from gold buyers.

It’s not the sellers who are the real problem it’s the BUYERS, if Blizzard perma-banned the buyers the sellers wouldn’t have a market of any size but Blizzard have always refused to ban such players … so in effect Blizzard is condining gold buying.

Yes, Yes you do. There is a reason Thrall gave you a job in the Bleu Cheese Dressing Factory…

…and how the hell did these gold sellers amass gold to sell so quickly? Is there some kind of hack or exploits going on?

Past history suggests underpaid Chinese farmers, bots, or hacked and stolen accounts.

FFXI had a terrible Gil buying problem. It was so bad the average player couldn’t afford most items or get enough edge to participate in end game content. However, Square formed a task force that started hitting those sellers hard and auction house prices plummet to reasonable and affordable levels.

This is why gold selling is bad and buying it makes the problem worse.

How do we report said players inviting you to their channels?

it’s listed above. Whisper back to the goldseller, then use their name to submit a report.

You write a GM ticket.

So…Thrall wants to kill me?

(Bleu cheese = highly allergic to the mold in it)

Thus is the fate of all cows, to be led to the slaughter.

One does not simply opt out of having other players being able to invite you to channels.

It’s the layering hack.
