Level as arms and 2h tank. Deep prot at 50 for dungeons. Fury prot for raids. Fury prot sucks in dungeons big time! You never have rage and without tactical mastery its just bad. In raids its a completely different story.
Deep prot has always been and will always be a terrible spec. The problem is you get very little of value in anything past the 15-20 point talents. The higher level stuff adds almost no survivability, doesnât help with rage regeneration and doesnât increase threat, its also often ineffective in raids, and simply adds utility which many will infrequently use and which can negatively impact your rage regeneration, such as stuns.
If you want to sword/board look at an Arms/Prot or Fury/Prot build as overall you will find you are just as tanky as well as can pull much better threat and more rage while having more usability utility. Also while traditionally people will go 2h with Arms, or DW with Fury Prot, both can be effectively used with 1h/shield.
They donât. Theyâre used to Cata/Retail/SoD threat where the only person even thinking about threat is the tank.
90% of pugs will not read your mind and theyâll just assume all threat issues are on the tank. You need a guild and set expectations to get a group expecting the slow runs, and even then youâll have the guildie tell you to 2H most likely. Itâs hard to find casual guilds, and casual guilds are full of people that donât want to understand threat
Youâre right about Fury Prot being awful in dungeons for sure. Donât agree about ever needing deep prot, though. Itâs a PVP spec after the first 10 points or so
This is wrong. Deep prot is great for dungeons because the rest of those points give you rage management and you get tactical mastery. Once you have gear you could go full fury DPS spec and tank 5 mans fine but before that deep prot is great for 5 mans once you are high enough level. 1-50 arms is bis for TM and SS
So youre a troll. Got it.
Forever box.
Iâm a troll for having a warrior get to 51 tanking every dungeon without a single death? Got it
God forbid Iâm right and Arms tank is so OP it makes dungeons faceroll
I actually like 17/3/31 for dungeons due to tact mastery and adding deep wounds to enemies. The only way to make fury prot not suck in dungeons is to stay in def stance and bank rage for the next pull.
no tact mastery feels so bad as a warrior in classic whatever the spec is. I like 17/3/31 because it works in all aspects of the game as a sword and board player. PvP, Dungeons, raids.
Can you please look at the Prot tree? Itâs literally a PvP tree after the first 10 points.
imp shield bash is great for pvp
Yeah agreed if you get Tact Mastery it works fine. Missing it is the issue for sure
it would be sweet if classic warrior got some talents from BC/wrath like -3 cost to all offensive abilities, because its definitely not all that great deep prot even though I do value the ones I do pick.
What skill exactly are you getting that makes it great for 5 mans that Fury/Prot or Arms/Prot wouldnât simply be better assuming all 3 specs are using a shield? I mean the big struggle that most warriors have in 5 mans is lack of rage. Nothing deep in Prot will help with that for the most part, and most of the really useful skills defensive skills are in the first 4 tiers of talents, meaning you can go to the 20 in prot and 31 in to either arms/fury.
-3 cost to sunder aint nothing. imp shield bash is incredibly useful for pulling back casters/preventing casting even if you miss the cast interrupt. I like 1/2 imp shield wall for the 3 additional seconds. 10% 1h damage synergizes with deep wounds. Concussion blow acts as mitigation by stopping an enemies attacks for 5 seconds. I pass on imp taunt, disarm.
Maybe they arent the best options available but they are incredibly useful if used properly
imp sunder - rage management
Concussive blow - Awesome for aoe pulls when a mob goes to run off
Imp shield slam - great for positioning casters
1h spec - threat
Shield slam - cheap threat
imp taunt - more control on aoe pulls
tactical mastery - required in 5 mans
Arms/prot would be decent as well
Fury prot is garbage in a 5 man⌠straight trash
Fury/arms - bis for 5 mans once you have a little gear
Literally makes it the cheapest threat per rage that ever exists in wow
2H Tank doesnât need cheaper sunder as it has near unlimited rage
PvP ability. Mobs canât run off if theyâre dead, 2H tank obliterates 8 mobs at once
This a pvp utility. Shield slam already spell locks them, this just spell locks all schools rather than the one you bashed, which is very niche for a caster mob to have more than 1 school of magic
Just go 2H for threat, itâs many time the threat
Actually comically bad rage per threat ratio, thatâs literally the primary reasoning for going Fury Prot for raid lol, BT and MS are both better for threat
This is Arms not Prot
I mean believe what you want, its ok to be wrong. TM is taken in all flavors of deep prot spec but it can not be picked up in fury prot.
bottom line? Put on a shield no matter what your spec is so you donât grief you healers
I am the healer. This character is literally 8/8 T3 RDruid.
As the healer who has done hundreds of dungeons, PLEASE do not Sword/Board a dungeon. Just griefing your entire group and going to force me to drink the entire run
Meh, I havenât equipped a shield yet
