Gnome Starting Zone proves We're missing a class

Step 1) create a gnome
Step 2) pick up the profession engineering.
Congratulations, you now have a gnome tinker.

Nope. Id be a Gnome of whatever class I Picked.
None of them are Tinkers actually.

a Profession is just a Profession.
You could pick Engineering but you wouldn’t be a Human Tinker, you’d be a Human Warlock.

In fact, in the Current expansion, engineering doesn’t give you a single one of the Tinker abilities from Warcraft 3.

Not all abilities will translate well going from rts to mmo.
Tinker is a profession in WoW. Even the game calls engineers tinkerers in various places.

Actually, Every single Class has abilities from the RTS, so… Sorry but that’s wrong.
Literally every class.
You’re playing a Warlock For Example.
Rain of Fire, Doom, and Summon Infernal are all from the RTS.

No Engineering is a profession in WoW, Tinkers are hero unit Engineers.

I want my Tinker Mech :robot:

See? He’s not High Engineer Mekkatorque, is he?

He’s clearly cut from a different cloth, he’s a level above usual engineers.

Anyone can be an engineer, but to be a Tinker takes another level of skill.

You misread what I said. Yes the other classes have abilities from the rts, but not all the abilites from the rts have made it into the game.

In Warcraft 3 yes, not in WOW. In WoW Tinkers and Engineers are one in the same.

This is True.

I Think the tinker abilities should be put into WoW.

This is incorrect. And I can prove it with simple gameplay.

In WoW, we see Tinkers, they Pilots mechs, use guns, Missiles, and Turrets, they can Also heal with Guns and Healbots.

The Island Expedition teams are Tinkers, High Tinker Mekkatorque is a Tinker.
Gazlowe is a Tinker.

In WoW there is also the Engineering Profession.
It allows you to make gizmos, an incap that doesn’t always work, and a battle res that doesn’t always work.

You’ll note, none of those are the same abilities that The Tinkers use. None of them were on Tinkers in Warcraft 3 either.

I’m sorry, but a Profession =/= equal a Hero Unit.

You can do your own research if you want.

Speaking of Engineers!

If there is going to be Tinkers, I hope that Tinkers are given some incentive to learn Engineering, for some BoP items and added content.

Especially in the Gnome/Goblin Engineering areas.

Personally, I don’t want a single darn thing from the Maw. We already see the limitation of the Monk class and how underwhelmingly underrepresented it is in Lore when they based it solely on the Pandaren. Had they made Monks more racial faith theme. (Auchenai Monks, Argent Monks, and Scarlet Monks all existed prior.) The class would be more prominent in the game.

If we do get a new class, it needs to have various takes on the class, while still being at its core. Tinker works as Goblins and Gnomes are distinctively varied in their engineering pursuits. But they both follow a similar road. Draenei and even Orcs have been shown to have technical minds.

you’re thinking of engineers. those are engineers.

You can also make turrets, rocket launchers, parachutes, a gun that shoots bandages, helicopters, mechs, motorcycles, goggles, and other objects. So make a gnome hunter whose an engineer. Make some turrets, the rockets, and use a gun.

Considering There’s only 2 specializations out of 36 that use ranged weapons

I would want a Tinker class would use ranged weapons as well, ideally for all 3 specializations, Tank Healer and DPS.

None of those are in Modern Shadowlands. So Wrong again, would you like to try again?
The mounts are cool, I use them already.

Then I’d a Hunter who tames animals, and shoots Arrows.
But nice try anyways.

Those are clearly based on the Orc Beastmaster Hero unit, and the Priestess of the Moon Unit. with abilities like “Tame Beast” and “Trueshot”

No, “Tinker” is literally in the name “High Tinker Mekkatorque”
Just like the “Goblin Tinker” from Warcraft 3.

This is like saying an Enchanter and an Enhancement Shaman are the same class.

Engineering doesn’t give me any “Tinker” abilities from Warcraft 3.

that’s his title, not his name. it’s no more a class than “Chef” or “Professor” is

Actually, Tinkers were Hero Units in Warcraft 3.
Just like Death Knights or Demon Hunters.

Did you actually read my post?

Engineering Doesn’t give you any of the Tinker abilities from Warcraft 3.

We See NPC Tinkers all the time, using the Abilites from WC3… So Tinkers ARE a class, just not one we can play.
yet.

i did. i didn’t see anything that explained why every class from WC3 has to be implemented in WoW.

It’s right in the OP.

See?
It’s all about representing a Fantasy that is missing from the Class roster.

Guns for sure! Although for some reason, I kind of figured that a Mech-Jockey would use a 1-Handed Mace. Seems like a giant wrench would be in their hand, over a gun. I’ll take either!

Both Work, Perhaps they could use a Variety of Weapons, and simply use it as a “Stat Stick”

Dual Wield Wrenches!!!

Yes! There’s also an off-hand toolbox that would be an amazing addition.
