Gnolls would make a fair Alliance-counterpart to the Horde's Vulpera allied race

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NOO.
NO more furry races OR elves! We have enough!

We need at least 3 more scalie/humanoid races BEFORE adding another furry/elf!

Edit: Sethrakk are a perfect candidate for the next playable race; as they should’ve become playable in BFA anyways… :green_heart: :snake:

So long as theyre not like humans.

The alliance already has humans, dwarves, gnomes, worgen, nightelves, female draenei, void elves, dark iron dwarves, kul tirans, and mechagnomes.

There are so many humans and humans with slight tweaks added to them.

I still dream of a K’aresh expansion where Ethereals become playable.

What’s sad is they put the effort into those rigs and how many play KT. If I remember correctly, Rexxar uses either the male Kul’tiran rig, or a slightly modified version of it, so give that rig new life and give Horde Mok’nathal already. Female Mok’nathal can use the female Kul’tiran rig.

Real talk, anyone with a pulse should’ve known the Kul Tirans weren’t going to be popular. They deliberately made them ugly and fat. People don’t want to play ugly, fat characters in game, except as a joke. It’s one of those things people think “people just want to play representations of themselves”, but it’s actually not true; people want to play as idealized versions of themselves.

Make their belly a BIT less pronounced (they legit look like they’re smuggling a basketball under their shirt), give them a couple Face options that aren’t deliberately trying to be “fat/ugly”, and maybe some more rugged-looking hairstyles. THEN they might’ve been popular.

But yeah, I don’t remember a single person being excited about them even before their announcement, but especially when they actually became a playable race. They’d have been FAR better off introducing a small clan of Vrykul that had arrived on Kul Tiras.

Maybe their favorite fishing spots were getting eaten by enemies of the two major factions, and alliance showed up to the village with crates of fish relief supplies before horde did. As for the gnolls. Yeah. Definitely horde, after being murdered repeatedly in the same camp by humans, night elves, gnomes, dwarves, then alien invasions, and any other totally fun kind of person sporting some yellow and blue over 20 years. But they hung in there! As long as they could. Until that Hogger, oh our brave and noble king of solemn giggles, said one day “hey maybe we should move” and just like that, within seconds, there was a vulpera messenger of the vulpera express before him, informing him that the horde seeks council with one so brave and epic and historically stubborn as he.

I was thinking the Furbolgs you know bear people would be an Alliance unlike the Gnolls that act like more raiding Bandits and could work more as a Horde Allied Race. Or better Cat People for the Alliance more.

I wouldn’t mind Furbolgs, but I would say the point still stands that Gnolls are a more accurate comparison to Vulpera, as a “new race” that reuses a model available on their own faction. If they went to the Horde, then that means the Horde gets access to a Worgen model, which means the Alliance needs a race that uses a Horde model.

To be honest, Mechagnomes really throw everything out of whack, because if the Horde gets anything with any REAL effort, it’s still going to come across as an uneven playing field. Gilgoblins or “Wood Elves/Farstriders” are about the only things I could see as an actual counterpart to Mechagnomes.

But what will alliance complain about when Horde gets Sethrak allied race?

As far as Gnolls joining the Alliance, this is something I’ve said for years, but I genuinely think you could introduce a LOT of much-needed humor to the Alliance.

Obviously, the events of the past few years would have put a strain on Stormwind’s resources. The Gnolls, who rely on raiding said resources, would likely also be feeling the pinch, particularly as the Alliance have become more and more unified and likely harder for Gnolls to just “steal supplies” from.

As such, I’d have one of the Gnoll leaders (maybe Hogger, maybe Meatball, maybe someone new) come forward and basically say “You humans so weak and stupid, we see you don’t have as much food for us to steal. So we help you because you do pathetic, so we can have more food to steal. We show you what REAL strong look like!”, while the Stormwind officers are just looking around like “Uhh… okay? I guess you can just… separate up and a few of you join some of the Alliance expeditions about to deploy?”

So throughout various Alliance settlements, you might seen the occasional Gnoll or two. Some might be completely conceited, convinced they are the mightiest hunters in existence, and that everyone else is stupid and primitive compared to their cutting-edge technology like “a sharp objected tied to a stick”.

Conversely, you might have others that, the moment ANYONE around them uses even the simplest form of magic – or even just actual technology – they run around manically screaming “WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?!? THE END IS NIGH, RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!”

I honestly fee like they could just be SO much fun. And like I said, I think would serve an important counter-balance to the Alliance, which does tend to feel a little too “serious” and plain-jane most of the time. I think having these stupid, aggressive little guys running around would be kind of endearing. Plus, let’s face it; the Alliance has way more interactions with Gnolls as a race. It might be fun seeing them “bury the hatchet” after all the years, even if they’re more of a “minor annoyance” to the citizens of Elwynn Forest these days than genuine threat.

Humor can be covered for alliance easy.

Just have someone steal some beer from a drunken dwarf.

Then hillarity will ensue.

I’d happily play a gnoll even knowing they wouldn’t be a good fit for the Alliance.

Bad dwarf! No brew for you!

I’m more than happy if they insert that Hordeside. Or hell, now that we can all group together, just make every new AR available to both factions ala dracthyr

Gnolls would be Horde given the lengthy conflicts with humans.

They would basically be the Horde’s Worgen.

Ya’ll might be interested in my thread…

All i know is, if they keep adding new pairs of races (one for each side) and the horde one is better time and time again, we won’t need to worry about factions because there won’t be any alliance left lol

The fact that they thought the little gnome variants were a good idea just speaks to how out of touch the dev team is, there’s no way in hell they have a single alliance player in the core team or they would have chimed in and been like “Ummm guys, this is going to go over like a lead balloon”.

Why would they be Horde though?

Well we only killed their champion, Hogger, over and over again.
