The big issue is that, since BC onwards, High Elves have been portrayed as a faction within the Alliance. Hell, in BfA, NPCs literally titled “High Elf Sorceress” were added to Stormwind.

Thalassians really conflate “faction identity”, because they’re depicted on the same sides of the faction line. So, in my opinion, it’s natural that Alliance players want the option to play the race they’ve been shown. It’s not their fault that High Elves have been depicted as an Alliance race for 13 years, while Blood Elves have been depicted as a Horde race.

If they look indistinct from each other, well… It’s because they are indistinct from each other! If you take issue with that, then the source of the problem is the fact that the lore has two factions of the same race that just wear different colors.

Belves also have unique heritage armor, a capital city, their racial leader is one of the front-line characters. And those haven’t been changed! If anything, they’ve been gained over the last year or so.

Look at the Sunreavers and Silver Covenant. Those are the exact same race, but look entirely different. The character themselves doesn’t make the blood elf aesthetic. It’s all the other stuff that makes them distinct.

Let’s not pretend they’re all buddy-buddy with the Horde in the way they are with the Alliance. Their whole schtick is that they wanted to kick the Horde out of Dalaran

Not all of them. We have the High Elf Wayfarers and Silvermoon Scholars in the Rift as well, studying the void to become the next gen of Void Elves.

But when you think about it, we can also call Blood Elves mutants as well, because of them using Demonic Magic to power up there… once so everlasting carboard cutout… city.

Well, except that we haven’t seen the Void Magic transformed the Void Elves, because the only ones that have transformed, was Umbric and his followers, and they were transformed from Etherals, not the Void itself.

Alliance players already have the option to play a High Elf with the Total RP 3 addon and imagination.

How can you give Void Elves options and not have them on their parent race Blood Elves?

Since Blood Elves are the renamed High Elves the Alliance apparently should have gotten in TBC, even though the story doesn’t suggest it.

So how? How can you give Void Elves anything not void based and not be able to give it to BE?

How can BE get anything anymore without Alliance wanting it for their High Elves RP?

It’s impossible now. Blizzard messed up on this whole thing big time.

It would have just been easier to give Alliance High Elves with a new model.

No, instead Blizzard copy/pasted BE over to Alliance and have caused nothing but drama.
